El Caballa: As an unemployed graduate since 2010,why am i still alive when others who passed out yesterday are killing themselves?

Have patience, you will still die. There is no need taking your life, since no comes out of life alive.

I understand what happened, may his soul rest in peace. I have been reading ppls posts here n no 1 has said my mind on dis case.
One thing is certain, as one of his neigbour said, he complained of unemployment..No he just finished service on february just two month b4 his death, so I disagree partially on unemployment but rather it gets us to some clues why he took his life.
Depression,..Yes but what state I ask? My wide guess goes to one thing...his Degree status. Considering the school n frustration he must ve passed through I guess the deceased was a smart guy but probably lost his targeted grade of degree to get him his dream job maybe he graduated with a 2.2 or 3rd class, believe me I ve dealt n counseled such depression Amongst my peers,...all he needed was to confide in a friend or a relative but I guess no one really gave dat attention to him y he was fighting depression n sucide forces.
Pls have time for a depressed fellow, show them u are able to share their burden in secret then help them out...since they can't voice out, ask ppl that can help n relate it as a solution to them.
Finally Nigerians should cultivate d habit of visiting a psychologist or a psychiotric doctor when depressed because depression is a form of mental illness.

that guy had a bright future but for reasons best known to the killers they killed him b4 he could achieve anything.maybe he would have been the one to elevate his family name
dude, you are getting me wrong. what i meant was that somebody actually took a knife and stabbed the guy. i am basing my assumption on
1)nobody saw the guy stab himself (they just assumed he did),
2)it is practically impossible for a guy to stab himself twice without screaming
3)it is almost impossible for a guy to stab himself thrice

they say don't speak ill of the dead, but in this case, he's remarkably foolish if he did that
Re: Unemployed-Graduate Stabs Self To Death In Lagos by StateOfMind: 9:18am On Apr 22, 2013
Something probably went wrong during his service year that led to depression which wasn't taken care of. I really dont think it has anything to do with being unemployed 2months after nysc.

So sad sad
Re: Unemployed-Graduate Stabs Self To Death In Lagos by obi123: 9:20am On Apr 22, 2013
Definitely depression, its a real disease , so i laugh when people instead of saying i'm sad they say i'm depressed so passively like its nothing.
We cant understand what he was going through, do you know what it takes to decide to commit suicide ? then decide to stab oneself repeatedly, this boy was mentally disturbed.
Common to give yourself insulin shots is a problem for the average human being talk less of stabbing oneself

am short of words. my brother is a gradute, graduated 5 years ago, unemployed but very happy and optimisstic about life. i find this story rather bizzare cos this young man will never want to take his life. but God knows our end from the beginning. He alone sees where we cannot see. i pray the young man finds rest in His bossom.

Y'all should spare me the sermon, the employment situation in Nigeria is enough to make someone go mad, now is that not death in itself?

When contacted on the telephone, the acting spokesperson for the state police command, Damascus Ozoani, said the matter could not yet be classified as suicide until autopsy was concluded.

“Although the family claimed he killed himself, the police will have to do their own independent investigation to ascertain what really happened. We will wait for the outcome of the autopsy and this will determine our next line of action,” he said

What's the Police problems here? Which yeye investigation they wan come carry out for here? The poor boy took his own life and you are talking about investigation. Depressed or no depressed, the guy has no right, in fact, no suicidal have any right to take their own life, no matter the circumstances they found themselves. God is the giver of life and He will hold anyone accountable that does so.

teeo: So sad.. But it beats my imagination that a young man who has a bright future as a graduate would allow the temporary situation around him force him to take a permanent action.

When people complain about being unemployed, the first thing i ask is what steps have you taken? How many companies have u applied for as just a free intern. Every graduate wants to end up in chevron even though they dont know how to use a photocopier. People should wake up abeg, the boardroom is way different from the classroom.

So sad that that guy wld rot in hell.
my guy d concept of hell is gettn less scary dis days.we live in one already.

Ur somehow right, but not 2months unemployment would cause 1 to commit suicide!

The cause of his death could be depression from low grade result or heartbreak from his girlfriend. It could also be manipulated from d spiritual realm, since the spiritual controls d physical. The bible says we wrestle not against flesh and blood(visible), but against principalities and powers, demons in high places(invisible)

Also; 1 peter 5:7-11 (pls read)

I've had my own share of unemployment(2010-2013) as a 2.1 graduate. Even when I thot I finally got a job, it came crashing after a month, but I'm still grateful to God and still hopeful that all will be fine someday!

Unemployed graduates should get close to God, seek him and his kingdom, and everything shall fall in place and d devil will NEVER manipulate you!

God bless

kokoA: The guy was suffering from serious depression which might be as a result of a heart break or something not mentioned in the article. A good phycologist would have saved his life, but his parents over-looked this option. We need to start taking our mental helth seriously in this country rather than attribute cases like this to some none existing "spiritual forces".

God bless you. The other day a story about a girl going through depression hit the front page. it was the same old stuff. She needs to go for deliverance bla bla bla. Thats our attitude to mental issues in this country. Its well sha

i know oyeka very well, we are from the same village, went for villa escortion last xmas to the beach, the truth is he didn't graduate as people say, i believe it must have been the harsh words from parents , family, the berating, insults, that forced him to take his life, may his soul rest in peace

The first part of your statement is silly and uncalled for and yes, there is more to this!
Do you know the number of job offers he's been promised while in service and all of them turned Nil?
Or it didn't occur to you that disapponitments can lead to depression and then suicide?
How many workers [in Nigeria] have even committed suicide? With the rate of corruption going on, do you think any worker would?

Note that, am not supporting his actions, but if this country were a lil bit accommodating with the large number of graduates purged out, lotta of things would be right!
