The are always quick to point out that d governors have xtian wives and I always laugh within me as this lie continue to hold sway.
in case u don't know, this is a political strategy to win the votes of majority xtians in the state..
If ur religion permits you to marry four wives, for variety sake,y not get an infidel among them not that the governors really love them and in most cases, the are closet muslims.
Those wives don't know that the are pawns being used to play games..smh for them.

You're very very on your own. Your argument is not only wrong, but completely baseless. We Yoruba are more advanced than this crude way of thinking.

Atleast i thank my God as an igbo man that the yorubas are not radicalize like the a.nimal northern hausas. The only way to flee the ignorance of islam is to be educated and i think yorubas are equal to the task. Let the (yoruba )muslims rule lagosian for all i care for 50yr but not Nigeria again. We igbos can even manage yoruba to rule Nigeria but not the northern islamic b.igots

That's what most of them don't know. Islam was prominent amongst Yoruba's way before Christianity and Uthman Dan Fodio. And a lot of Yoruba Muslim scholars schooled In Timbuktu under the tutelage of Baba Ahmed, when Songhai reigned supreme in West Africa.

A little bit of history....

thats where the KAKANFO in the title "Aare Ona Kankafo" came from.

OYO had a tributary frontier that bordered into Songhai. Kakanfo was in Songahi and the military outpost that commandered the whole front was under the Aare's command. It stretched from Ilorin to Kakanfo in the Songhai Empire and served as a protectorate for Yoruba commonwealth.

There were, as you said, scholarship and trade exchanges. It also explains, partly, why Dan Fodio did not enter Yoruba soil with Jihad.....The Mali (IMALI/IMALE) Islam was already in practice.

As a christain Lagosian, I have never for once viewed any of the past Lagos state governors through the veils of religion. All I want is someone that can move this state to an enviable height. For all you religious bigots, sorry to burst your bubble, true Yorubas are very tolerant of each other irrespective of their differences. So, move your bigotry elsewhere.

Its all about lagos being in good hands. Should you get a christian as the next governor of lagos, you'll probably complain if he is not from your denomination. This mentality must change!

This clearly shows that many Nigerians especially the ones outside the SW are still socially and culturally unsophisticated and undeveloped.

Sorry , we just see thing differently or should I say one of the most culturally advanced and spiritually emancipated people on the planet.even more than the American ,Europeans etc.
Even on an empty stomach, a Yoruba man will not lash out over religion.but European, Arabs and Asians lash out all the time even on a full stomach

Mimiko is a practicing CHRISTIAN!

U can vote for any candidate of your choice but we should not pretend as if religion is not a deciding factor. Fashola cannot and will not support a christian candidate that is the bitter truth.

LOL. It is politics, if you want to be Governor of Lagos, contest. It is that simple.

Stop whining.

it is not wise blaming SS/SE though, but it seems that we have more religious bigots from that side. Most of the posters who insult Muslims and Islam are from there.

The only part of Nigeria I see religious intolerance is in northern nigeria. Just this morning fulani herdsmen went on killing spree in southern Kaduna. In Edo state there are mix of christian, muslim and traditionalist and for any region to say they are more tolerant than others is laughable. Oshiomhole is a muslim yet christians from edo state voted for him . The OP of this topic is from Lagos state and I think its mischievous of him to post such article .

The poster is from River State. Click on his user name and find out. There are Igbos who are Christians, and how many times has anyone of them been allowed to contest for offices or been appointed as commisioners?
