Jonathan is the dumbest President ever, very ignorant Nigerians are hailing this decision, the basis of the declaration of state of emergency is already defeated if the governors are kept in power... THRE IS NO STATE OF EMERGENCY WITH THE GOVENORS IN OFFICE!!! Nigerians are so easy to govern because of our short memory, if you follow the decisions GEJ has taken on boko-haram, you will see that it is filled with blunders and political undertones rather than the interest of the security of the nation. He once declared them as ghosts, offered amnesty and even set up committee....suddenly they are to be 'smoked' out by this dead on arrival state of emergency? Common? this was just a way to dissolve the governors forum, even my grandmother know that! STOP CELEBRATING MEDIOCRITY NIGERIANS! The Military has been in Maiduguri for close to three years still the menace is spreading and spreading fast...Boko-haram is like fire, you need to deal with it from source not just the flames....some key individuals are the source and the members are just flames there is little you can do to flames if the source of ignition is still active! This Aba made state of emergency is going after the flames and leaving the 'source' in power. IT WON'T WORK!!! Jonah Grow some Balls and stop playing balls with the lives of millions of Nigerians......I dey Vex!!!!! |

Pukkah: Although this seems like a good move, it's imperative to ask some questions: Well-said. The part in bold is the crux of the matter. No doubt GEJ, at crucial moments, needs the support of all Nigerians when the security of every citizen is under threat. Nonetheless, I join you to express pessimism about this development because, glaringly, we all know that the fundamental players, i.e sponsors enabling terrorism to flourish, are not being hunted down, shut down and killed aggressively and decisively as is the case elsewhere when a "cut-the-head-of-the-Snake" dedication has delivered enduring peace. Deploy military might to States under emergency rule, and against foot soldiers, while deliberately avoiding the sponsors you tell us you know, will simply never deliver lasting solutions because the "head of the Snake" is free to replace foot soldiers in his determination to continuously sponsor terror against innocent Nigerians until he gets his way or is taken out. GEJ is the worst President Nigeria can hope for in this situation since he is callously devoted to his 2015 agenda to the extent he can view Nigerians as cannon-fodders to be sacrificed in the war of deceit him and his Party affiliates are engaged in. Anyone who is against my opinion should show me, factually and without insults or emotion, a single effort GEJ has put in to deal with even one prominent sponsor of terrorism. Instructive that Ndume, perhaps the most prominent alleged sponsor of terror, and as an aberration against what 99% of Nations worldwide would allow , remains on bail and travelling freely back and forth. Nigerians, open your eyes or you will keep dying as pawns in the game of very wicked and callous men who view you all as expendable and "unimportant". 1 Like |

mikeansy: The President did the sensible thing to leave the democratically elected structure of Government in the states intact OBJ did nonsense by removing the Governor(s)? Anyway, you've already stated that you weren't sure of what you said. The President does not single-handedly remove the Governor as the National Assembly still has to approve the declaration of a state of emergency. |

nuclearboy: While this is good news on the surface, I fear it will force the BH animals to move to other areas. This will in turn trigger wider SOEs and gradually, the entire country may be turned into a theatre of urban warfare.Good point there bro. |

fkaz: What kind of state of emergency is this? When he still ask the chief security officer of the state i.e the governors to remain their. JTF are their in borno, yobe, and others state, with the state governors beforethe Governors will remain there ceremonially(without power) while the soldiers would take control of the state. |

Re: State Of Emergency Declared In Borno, Yobe and Adamawa by Gbawe: 10:47pm On May 14, 2013 |
Mogidi: @Gbawe. Are you not ashamed? You are mentioning Politicians not in any government role yet your own C-in-C has confessed impotently that Boko Haram has infiltrated every level of his Government, with no one seeing any action whatsoever against these 'infiltrators', while his VP, Namadi Sambo, has been publicly linked with a Boko Haram gun runner. No less than the Nation security advisor (Azazi) revealed to Nigeria that "Boko Haram is PDP". How long will people like you continue this nauseating self-deceit all for the sake of sectional bias that will, sooner or later, ensure you may personally be affected by the mad dance between GEJ and his bloodthirsty brothers in the nest of killers (PDP)? 1 Like |

SOE with the governors still in office? This clueless man called GEJ just keeps pushing the bar lower and lower. How did this man attain a doctorate? Next thing he will set up committees to sort out the rift between governors and military administrators. What sort of SOE is this? He is just breeding more confusion and anarchy in the land. Even the bible tells us how God deals with lukewarm folks. We need to spew this man out of Aso Rock in 2015. He is neither hot nor cold. All his balls is reserved for fighting the likes of Amaechi. That is the only time when his tactical ingenuity comes alive. A president must not know it all and this one seems to know jack but what are his advisers doing? This sort of SOE portents confusion of all sorts. |

Let the army of soldiers comb the nooks & crannies of these states, even the borders and arrest/ eliminate all the militant Boko shitz in there. If I'm in Jona shoes, noffin can stop me from running d 2nd term...except if I fail 2 be re-elected. |

[quote author=kaorama] Your beloved GEJ obeyed the conditions given to him by the governors forum to the letter. The governors of these states will still receive their FG allocations & the political structures of these states were not tampered with. |

lee007: Jonathan is the dumbest President ever, very ignorant Nigerians are hailing this decision, the basis of the declaration of state of emergency is already defeated if the governors are kept in power... THRE IS NO STATE OF EMERGENCY WITH THE GOVENORS IN OFFICE!!! The irony is that you are actually the ignorant one for claiming that there is no state of emergency because the "elected governors are still in situ". You are wrong. The constitution does not empower the president to remove a sitting governor via a state of emergency. You cannot use the events of Plateau state under OBJ as a binding precedent. OBJ acted illegally and unconstitutionally then. Don't be one of the "very ignorant Nigerians" who did not bother to read section 305 of the constitution before coming online to rant. 305. (1) Subject to the provisions of this Constitution, the President may by instrument published in the Official -Gazette} of the Government of the Federation issue a Proclamation of a state of emergency in the Federation or any part thereof. |

van bonattel: Lwkmd! Anyway, this SOE is incomplete as far as those Governors there. But wat is on ground now will be beta dan before. Its beta we run to UN to dissolve dis union now , cos after all dese measures, a war might erupt, u know say dose northerners get as dem dey take tnz. Every event is an occassion for counter coup for them |

GEJ just made official what has been in existence in the north east for the past two years. Those JTF guys are the meanest and most unfriendly set of human beings I have ever met. Those guys shoot first and ask questions later. Inspite of their actions, boko haram insurgency is still waxing stronger in the north east. GEJ should try another tactic cos this one ain't gonna work. |
