Nigerians should be glad that God has finally answered the prayers of my fellow illiterates who wants so much for pigin english to be legalized as our unic language in this country. Since it was nominated as the second most sexiest language if am not mistaking (stands to be corrected). Now with the help of our beautiful damsel first lady, through her numeroustic, jargonistic, flabagasted and pompousoteric englishcomia, we will achieve our goals come 2015. Yehhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!! Up naija! Up black race!!!

boron10: GEJ plus Ruben Abati can't stand Soyinka in a high profile debate let alone Nigerian first ever illiterate first lady.
I'm not so sure. Ruben is much younger and holds his own quite well too...
Re: Nigerians Challenge Patience To Debate With Soyinka by Zither(m): 12:38pm On Jul 15, 2013
Unless the First Lady has a death wish, then she should appear in a debate with him.

However, this is unnecessary as this debate is not geared towards thrashing present national issues rocking the country with the aim to proffer lasting solution to the economic, religious, and social crisis threatening the peace and unity of the country.

The section of Nigerians who clamour for a showdown between PEJ and Prof. Wole Soyinka have only the ulterior motive of gleaning sadidstic satisfaction at the public humiliation of the former warranted by her improper use of the English language.

What is being debated (if there is at all) has no significance to the listeners...what they want to hear is that blunder that will make them burst into laughter...is that any reason for calling a public debate between two national figures?

I never intended to comment on this rubbish thread until I read ur comment, it is quite unfortunate that kids has envaded naira land.of what benefit is therein calling for a debate btw d two?why not call wole and pat utomi, prof salami of uniben to a debate,or maybe wole's wife and dame to a debate...how many times did wole write jamb and what did he graduate with from unilag?pls I wud like to know.thanks
Is it a must that you have to post a comment? Do you have to show what utter slowpoke you are through your ridiculous post? If you have to refer to others posting on this topic as kids, it shows you're an old fool (since you're claiming to be a grown up). I don't know if the Prof. is corrupt as some people have said and I'm not in support of the statement he made concerning the first lady, but you should be ashamed of yourself and your ridiculous post.
P.S: You can find several short biographies of the Prof. all over the internet, you should also look for the dates that WAEC and JAMB were established. The information above is not only for you, but also for others who would let themselves be deceived into believing that Soyinka wrote WAEC exams nine times.
Finally, the word is INVADED and not ENVADED.

As for chidindufrank, frederal and others of their ilk, I'll suggest that you've been reading too much lies from your so called heroes; why not try and ask the truth from your parents and those alive during the war? Ask them how your fake legends were living then and why they ran away when it was obvious they were going to lose.
Chike Obi is still a famous name in many circles in the southwest, I suppose the men who still praise him do so because he is a Yoruba man don't they?
Re: Nigerians Challenge Patience To Debate With Soyinka by Briareos(m): 12:49pm On Jul 15, 2013
This is what the inability to read has caused on Nigerians. Many people here haven't read a single page before on Wole Soyinka. They heard somebody who heard another person heard that Wole Soyinka is a Nobel Laurette. They also heard he came out with a third class. That is the extent of their knowledge on him. With that in mind, it is not difficult to understand all the rubbish they are spewing on him here.

My heart bleeds for my generation. undecided cry

JAMB? UNILAG? When did they create both JAMB and UNILAG? Are u ok? Anyway, Wole Soyinka graduated from the First/Oldest university in Nigeria - University of Ibadan (U.I) and also the University of Leeds at the United Kingdom. And, during his time, JAMB was decades from being created. I think you should ask your president, Jonathan, the same question. Let him tell you the school he went to and what his JAMB score was. Mofo....

While the Southwest press is busy trying to dent the image of our first lady by asking for a foolish debate, their brother Fasheun is busy betraying them by aligning with their former tormentor-in-chief, Mustapha to throw mud in their faces. The OPC leader even chartered a plane full of his members to escort him to Kano, yet they vent their frustrations on GEJ and PEJ. No wonder they have no single political position amongst the first 6.Confusion is their midle name.

My people, grammar no be success (with due respect to Shina Peters). Patience Goodluck, by God's grace, is up there (highly powerful) and no grammar can bring her down. In the same vein, Soyinka is a force to be reckoned with in his own field but no grammar can take Soyinka up there. Both are operating at different levels and the earlier we recognise the levels for what they are, the better for us all.

One thing i despise in these Patience Jonathan detractors is that they think English is our mothertongue. They also think speaking big grammar is a key to bulding a successful business empire or winning elections. Some of them, their parents have not even won common deputy councillorship elections, yet they come dey insult our first lady and president. I see that as a result of poverty. Pls tell me if speaking big grammar will make you a billionaire. PEJ should ignore them because it is poor man mentality that is worrying them. Debate ko, Phd Thesis ni. Nonsense.

Is it about having political position amongst the first 6 or having competent people in the first 6? Don't let tribalism destroy this country.

GEJ has been prez for quite sometimes now - of what direct benefit is it to Bayelsans? Sambo has been vice for sometimes too, of what benefit is he to his state? Even David Mark? Lets see beyond our noses and understand the political structure of this country. It is never inter-tribal, but between the politicians and the rest of Nigerians.

madam police can't you read between the lines. that the man you lick his yansh religiously is the one using fasheun as a tool in the hand of the devil. last time it was the pipeline deal and silly noise with asari to tell us how gej is better than angel micheal now teaming up with Mustapha to pacify northerners to vote gej. anyway all those plans is dead on arrival and fasheun can sell his life for a plate of porridge who cares Yorubas already know the senile old man is an hungry vulture.

You are now playing the tribalism card when it suits you. Why will Jonathan not be allowed to complete his term before crucifying him? Do we know how enormous the problem of this country is? The guy is trying. I agree there are areas he needs improvement. But an outright condemnation is not something i will agree with.
