Am baffled.
The last time I was in a programme anchored by this priest, he talked about how difficult it was for him to become a priest and how much he cherished his priesthood. So whatever made him throw away the much labour that got him to priesthood and his love for his priesthood is unimaginable.

I don't know him personally but i have a vague idea of his problem it is found every timw priest and bishop aren't on the same wavelength, the priest will continue to fill caged and the bishop has very terrible powers over his priests and will use his plenitude of powers to ensure obedience unknowingly caging the priest further . The priest either bends or breaks, if he bends he loses a part of himself in the process, he will either become a better pastor for it.... Or the bending may be too much and he loses himself in the process and enters crisis. Or he may break and say "no more" .

I don't think he is a bad person and his bishop may be totally in the right for curtailing him, actually this situation may be nobody's fault. This is why we must pray for our priest. The successful exercise of the priestly office is grace.

Have you prayed for your priests today?

In as much as I agree with almost all you said, I disagree with line "the situation may be nobody's fault"

Resigning one's priesthood is disobedience to that calling. There are better ways of reconciling differences.

The Apostolic Constitution of Pope Pius XII on the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary
Your body is holy and glorious
In their sermons and speeches on the feast day of the Assumption of the Mother of God, the holy fathers and the great doctors of the church were speaking of something that the faithful already knew and accepted: all they did was to bring it out into the open, to explain its meaning and substance in other terms. Above all, they made it most clear that this feast commemorated not merely the fact that the blessed Virgin Mary did not experience bodily decay, but also her triumph over death and her heavenly glory, following the example of her only Son, Jesus Christ.
Thus St John Damascene, who is the greatest exponent of this tradition, compares the bodily Assumption of the revered Mother of God with her other gifts and privileges: It was right that she who had kept her virginity unimpaired through the process of giving birth should have kept her body without decay through death. It was right that she who had given her Creator, as a child, a place at her breast should be given a place in the dwelling-place of her God. It was right that the bride espoused by the Father should dwell in the heavenly bridal chamber. It was right that she who had gazed on her Son on the cross, her heart pierced at that moment by the sword of sorrow that she had escaped at his birth, should now gaze on him seated with his Father. It was right that the Mother of God should possess what belongs to her Son and to be honoured by every creature as the God’s Mother and handmaid.
St Germanus of Constantinople considered that the preservation from decay of the body of the Mother of God, the Virgin Mary, and its elevation to heaven as being not only appropriate to her Motherhood but also to the peculiar sanctity of its virgin state: It is written, that you appear in beauty, and your virginal body is altogether holy, altogether chaste, altogether the dwelling-place of God; from which it follows that it is not in its nature to decay into dust, but that it is transformed, being human, into a glorious and incorruptible life, the same body, living and glorious, unharmed, sharing in perfect life.
Another very ancient author asserts: Being the most glorious Mother of Christ our saviour and our God, the giver of life and immortality, she is given life by him and shares bodily incorruptibility for all eternity with him who raised her from the grave and drew her up to him in a way that only he can understand.
All that the holy fathers say refers ultimately to Scripture as a foundation, which gives us the vivid image of the great Mother of God as being closely attached to her divine Son and always sharing his lot.
It is important to remember that from the second century onwards the holy fathers have been talking of the Virgin Mary as the new Eve for the new Adam: not equal to him, of course, but closely joined with him in the battle against the enemy, which ended in the triumph over sin and death that had been promised even in Paradise. The glorious resurrection of Christ is essential to this victory and its final prize, but the blessed Virgin’s share in that fight must also have ended in the glorification of her body. For as the Apostle says: When this mortal nature has put on immortality, then the scripture will be fulfilled that says “Death is swallowed up in victory”.
So then, the great Mother of God, so mysteriously united to Jesus Christ from all eternity by the same decree of predestination, immaculately conceived, an intact virgin throughout her divine motherhood, a noble associate of our Redeemer as he defeated sin and its consequences, received, as it were, the final crowning privilege of being preserved from the corruption of the grave and, following her Son in his victory over death, was brought, body and soul, to the highest glory of heaven, to shine as Queen at the right hand of that same Son, the immortal King of Ages.

Happy solemnity of the assumption.

Today,23 september is the memorial feast day of St Padre Pio of Pietrelcina (1887-1968)
Padre Pio was born to a southern Italian farmer in 1887 at Pietrelcina as Francesco Forgione. At age 15 he entered the noviciate of Capuchin Fiar, and fully joined the order at age 19.He suffered several health problems, and at a point his family thought he had tuberculosis.
Padre Pio was ordained at age 22 in 1910.In 1918 while praying before a cross,he received the stigmata, the first priest ever to be so blessed. He would hear confessions by the hour and was abld to read the consciences of those who held back.He was reportedly able to bilocate, levitate, and heal by touch. For fifty years at the monastery of San Giovanni Rotundo,he was devoted to Eucharist and prayer and was a much sought after spiritual advisor, confessor, and intercessor. He founded the House for the Relief of Suffering in 1956,a hospital that serve 60,000 a year.
Padre Pio died in 1968 of natural causes. He was beautified in 1999 and canonised in 2002 by Pope John Paul II.
So,the church in her divine mystical union commemorate and celebrate the memorial feast day of St Padro Pio. The life of the saint is memorised and presented to us almost every day, then what impact and changes have it make in our life? We must be holy and perfect as our Father in heaven is, and never to forget the agonising and suffering departed souls in purgatory through the help of our Mother, Mary for we are on journey in this earth.

St Padre Pio of Pietrelcina, pray for us

The *Our Fathers* remind us that Jesus' Father is the initiator of salvation.
The *Hail Marys* remind us to join with Mary in contemplating these mysteries. They also make us aware that Mary was and is intimately joined with her Son in all the mysteries of his earthly and heavenly existence.
The *Glory Be...* remind us that the purpose of all life is the glory of the Trinity.
The Rosary, though clearly Marian in character, is at heart a Christ-centered prayer. It has all the depth of the gospel message in its entirety.

We will start *PRAYING* this *NOVENA* on *THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 28th*
*WE ARE LOOKING FORWARD TO PRAYING WITH ME AND FOR YOU.*

Luke 9:1-6

*DEALING WITH REJECTION*

*"And as for those who do not welcome you, when you leave that town, shake the dust from your feet in testimony against them.” Luke 9:5*

This is a bold statement from Jesus. It’s also a statement that should bolden us in the face of opposition.

Jesus had just finished telling His disciples to go from town to town preaching the Gospel. He instructed them not to bring extra food or clothing on the journey but, rather, to rely upon the generosity of those to whom they preach. And He acknowledged that some will not accept them. As for those who do in fact reject them and their message, they are to “shake the dust “ from their feet as they leave the town.

What does this mean? It especially tells us two things. First, when we are rejected it can hurt. As a result, it’s easy for us to sulk and stew over the rejection and hurt. It’s easy to sit and be angry and, as a result, to allow the rejection to do us even more damage.

Shaking the dust from our feet is a way of saying that we ought not allow the hurt we receive to affect us. It’s a way of making a clear statement that we will not be controlled by the opinions and malice of others. This is an important choice to make in life when facing rejection.

Secondly, it’s a way of saying that we must keep moving on. Not only do we have to get over any hurt we have, but we need to then move on to seek out those who will receive our love and our message of the Gospel. So, in a sense, this exhortation from Jesus is not first about dealing with the rejection of others; rather, it’s primarily about seeking out those who will receive us and will receive the message of the Gospel we are called to give.

Reflect, today, upon any hurt you still carry in your heart because of the rejection of others. Try to let go of it and know that God is calling you to seek out others in love so that you can share the love of Christ with them.

*Prayer*: Lord, when I experience rejection and hurt, help me to let go of any anger I have. Help me to continue with my mission of love and to keep sharing Your Gospel with those who will receive it. Jesus, I trust in You
