I do not how many of us has doubts about what the church teaches about mary or will like to deepen the knowledge on mariology and see how it connects perfectly with the bible.
Anyway i found a beautiful online free course that anyone can enjoy during the few lenten days remaining, it is beautifully biblical, doctrinally sound and i hope will effect our spiritual life positively.

It is by Dr Hahn, the writter of rome sweet home and i heartily encourage everyone to at least glance through it. It contains invaluable resources.

After about a year.... I attended Mass in the east.... Noticed a huge difference with the northern churches esp Kano.

Kano diocese are more like Pentecostal... There preaching, Choristers way of singing.... Infact, everything.

The only thing I find the same is consecration.

Won't lie, I felt at home.

From a commentary on the psalms by Saint Augustine, bishop (Ps. 85, 1: CCL 39, 1176-1177) Jesus Christ prays for us and in us and is the object of our prayers God could give no greater gift to men than to make
his Word, through whom he created all things, their head and to join them to him as his members, so that the Word might be both Son of God and son of man, one God with the Father, and one man with all men. The result is that when we speak with God in prayer we do not separate the Son from him, and when the body of the Son prays it does not separate its head from itself: it is the one Savior of his body, our Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God, who prays for us and in us and is himself the object of our prayers. He prays for us as our priest, he prays in us as our
head, he is the object of our prayers as our God. Let us then recognize both our voice in his, and his voice in ours. When something is said, especially in prophecy, about the Lord Jesus Christ that seems to belong to a condition of lowliness unworthy of God, we must not hesitate to ascribe this condition to one who did not hesitate to unite himself with us. Every creature is his servant, for it was through him that every creature came to be.

We contemplate his glory and divinity when we listen to these words: In the beginning was th Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through him, and without him nothing was made. Here we gaze on the divinity of the Son of God, something supremely great and surpassing all the greatness of his creatures. Yet in other parts of Scripture we hear him as one sighing, praying, giving praise and thanks. We hesitate to attribute these words to him because our minds are slow to come down to his humble level when we have just been contemplating him in his divinity. It is as though we were doing him an injustice in acknowledging in a man the words of one with whom we spoke when we prayed to God; we are usually at a los and try to change the meaning. Yet our minds find nothing in Scripture that does not go back to him, nothing that will allow us to stray from him. Our thoughts must then be awakened to keep their vigil of faith. We must realize that the one whom we were contemplating a short time before in his nature as God took to himself the nature of a servant; he was made in the likeness of men and found to be a man like others; he humbled himself by being obedient even to accepting death; as hung on the cross he made the psalmist’s words his own: My God, my God, why have you forsaken me? We pray to him as God, he prays for us as a servant. In the first case he is the Creator, in the second a creature. Himself unchanged, he took to himself our created nature in order to change it, and made us one man with himself, head and body. We pray then to him, through him, in him, and we speak along with him and he along with us.

See, the days are coming, says the Lord, when I will make a new covenant
with the house of Israel and the house
of Judah ... I will plant my law within them and inscribe it in their hearts. I will be their God and they shall be my people ... All shall know me, from the least to the greatest, says the Lord.

It was Christ who established this new
covenant, the new testament in his blood,
calling into being, from Jews and Gentiles, people that was to form a unity, not in human fashion but in the Spirit, as the new people of God. Those who believe in Christ, reborn not of corruptible but of incorruptible seed through the word of the living God, not from the flesh but from water and the Holy Spirit, are constituted in the fullness of time as a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy
nation, a people God has made his own
..., once no people but now the people
of God. This messianic people has Christ as its head:
Christ who was given up for our sins and rose again for our justification;...

bearing now the name that is above every name, he reigns in glory in heaven. His people enjoy the dignity and freedom of the children of God, in whose hearts the Holy Spirit dwells as in a temple. They have as their law the new commandment of loving as Christ himself has loved us. They have as their goal the kingdom of God, begun on earth by God himself and destined to grow until it is also brought to perfection by him at the end of time, when Christ, our life, will appear, and creation itself will be freed from slavery to corruption and take on the freedom of the glory of God’s children. This messianic people, then, though it does not in fact embrace all mankind and often seems to be a tiny flock, is yet the enduring source of unity, hope and salvation for the whole human race. It is established by Christ as a communion of life, of love and of truth; it is also used by him as an instrument for the redemption of all, and is sent out into the whole world as the light of the world and the salt of the earth- L.G

Mehn after reading plenty topics and posts here in NL it shocks me to see that, Protestantism has done a lot of damage, people don't know Christ like I thought they should, it pains so much that I have been left speechless, because it's one thing not to know someone and a whole different thing to try change someone's wrong thought about that person.

May Christ truly help the church in ministering the truth about Christ and help in changing the wrong thoughts that have been taught over the years by Protestants.

Now I truly understand why the word says one should tests the spirits.

This is a great shock to me.

You're very correct, but I must point out that Protestantism is not all bad. They have strong points that we Catholics can learn from.

They might be preaching untruths along with the truth...but they still proclaim the name of Christ more fiercely than we Catholics do in many cases.

There is a saying that "the problem with the world is that intelligent people are full of doubts, but stupid ones are full of confidence."

How many Catholics are bold enough to preach the truth in a bus, market, to friends in school...how many Catholics can boldly make the sign of the cross in a restaurant etc.

Exactly Bro.. that's why Pope St John Paul II called for the New Evangelization, so that we can re catechize the poorly catechized Catholics and spread the fullness of truth to our separated brethren..

Thank God we have the Church and it's teaching authority (the magisterium) to guide us.. unfortunately our separated brethren do not have that while others reject it without fully grasping its significance..
They rely on their fallible interpretation of the Bible and hence are very prone to error.. they reject the Apostolic tradition which was meant to help us interpret scripture.. to be a boundary for faulty and correct interpretation..
as John says in 1 john 4: 6 We are of God. Whoever knows God listens to us, and he who is not of God does not listen to us. By this we know the spirit of truth and the spirit of error.

SO WHOEVER CLAIMS TO HAVE THE SPIRIT SHOULD LISTEN TO THE TEACHING AUTHORITY OF THE CHURCH
Re: A Thread For Catholics by Ubenedictus(m): 5:03pm On Apr 30, 2017
From the first apology in defense of the Christians by Saint Justin, martyr
The celebration of the eucharist No one may share the eucharist with us unless he believes that what we teach is true, unless he is washed in the regenerating waters of baptism for the remission of his sins, and unless he lives in accordance with the principles given us by Christ. We do not consume the eucharistic bread and wine as if it were ordinary food and drink, for we have been taught that as Jesus Christ our Savior became a man of flesh and blood by the power of the Word of God, so also the food that our flesh and blood assimilates for its nourishment becomes the flesh and blood of the incarnate Jesus by the power of his own words contained in the prayer of thanksgiving. The apostles, in their recollections, which are called gospels, handed down to us what Jesus commanded them to do. They tell us that he took bread, gave thanks and said: Do this in memory of me. This is my body. In the same way he took the cup, he gave thanks and said: This is my blood. The Lord gave this command to them alone. Ever since then we have constantly reminded one another of these things. The rich among us help the poor and we are always united. For all that we receive we praise the Creator of the universe through his Son Jesus Christ and through the Holy Spirit. On Sunday we have a common assembly of all our members, whether they live in the city or the outlying districts. The recollections of the apostles or the writings of the prophets are read, as long as there is time. When the reader has finished, the president of the assembly speaks to us; he urges everyone to imitate the examples of virtue we have heard in the readings. Then we all stand up together and pray. On the conclusion of our prayer, bread and wine and water are brought forward. The president offers prayers and gives thanks to the best of his ability, and the people give assent by saying, “Amen.” The eucharist is distributed, everyone present communicates, and the deacons take it to those who are absent. The wealthy, if they wish, may make a contribution, and they themselves decide the amount. The collection is placed in the custody of the president, who uses it to help the orphans and widows and all who for any reason are in distress, whether because they are sick, in prison, or away from home. In a word, he takes care of all who are in need. We hold our common assembly on Sunday because it is the first day of the week, the day on which God put darkness and chaos to flight and created the world, and because on that same day our savior Jesus Christ rose from the dead. For he was crucified on Friday and on Sunday he appeared to his apostles and disciples and taught them the things that we have passed on for your consideration.

A very clear explanation of this is given when Christ met the Samaritan woman at the well, she knew about God but on a shallow view, until she truly encountered Him and never remained the same.

Actually you very right to the extent that, even non Catholics have over time made the statement that we Catholics we truly don't know what we have that others long to have and yet we don't use it.

Good examples are:
Non Catholics going for the sacrament of reconciliation. Imagine that weigh u feel lifted off ones shoulders.

Non Catholics visiting the blessed sacrament

And very rare I have seen non Catholics become members of Catholic societies.

It sometimes makes me ask the question why do most Catholics prefer to be lukewarm in faith.
