slyzy: Forget that thing! How many doctors have been sued in Nig in proportion to the number of pple they give permanent disabilty with injection we see limping about? What of those they kill with misdiagnosis? Have u not heard of cases that they forget some tool in a patient stomach after operation? An the chain continues... An average Nigerian will let go even if the doctor tries to deny unprofessionalism saying is the will of God. So, how many doctors are sued in Nig as u are trying to claim?direct your issues and questions to lawyers. |

iiiyyyk:we have no sonographers in my department. we don't allow radiographers touch the ultrasound machine. why? because they dont know that a very echogenic liver + mild ascites maybe very early cirrhosis OR an echogenic liver may be hepatitis. they can only recognise an echogenic liver. QED. I hope you know your idio.tic senators earn more than their US counterparts just for sitting on their a**** all day. channel your queries to them.don't point your fingers at the doctors. 4 Likes |

prettyprettywow: You forgot that these are salaries of specialist Doctors(consultants) with over 12yrs of education and average of $300k in student loan (for US Drs) as compared to the salaries of an entry level nurse ( 4yrs degree and less than $50k student loanfor US graduates)). You fail to realize that in US, resident Drs earn an average of $45k, quite below the salary of the least hospital worker. So when they say Drs aern 200k, know that they are talking about consultants, and if you wanna compare with nurses, talk about nurse practitioners where some specialist nurse practitioners earn more than some specialist Drs e.g Anaesthetic nurses (CRNA) earn more than family physicians. Our Drs want to reap where they did not sow.Well said pretty.... You've just said it all.though I don't know much about other foreign countries but here in 9ja, d stand of doctors is out of it. I support ur say that doctors here hardly accept their misdeeds, they're good in shifting blames to other proffesional cadres (Lab,Nurses) most especially. 2. Doctors here, really mock their patients as u said. Except their customers at their private hospitals. That they introduces to public hospitals because of the equipments available in public health sectors. Even they make their private patients float public health sector orders at d expenses of public patients who souly believe in govt. Settings cos of prices and cost differences. 3. Even d doctors are most taken care of most compared to other health pratitionals. 4. And with one saying here that doctors are d brains. To me doctors can't diagonised without result from labs, that why they'll trying to steal shows from other health pratitionals. They're now going into d fields of other proffesionals as doctors studies. In hospitals nurses take care and spend time more with patients than doctors. 5. What of Medical health recors officers, that stands as statisticians for hospitals. They are d first bulk stop for patients. 6. Even with d setting on ground , house officers n students doctors her rated high than other health professional that has passed through their student levels. because house officers still under tutorlage (get paid from level 10). When other health proffesional cadre starts from level 9,6 and 7. Yet they've passed d level of students. And yet d consultants receives heavily.... 7. Moreso they now heading and being d directorate of every departments now ranging from Medical health records, Lab e.t.c. It will get to a time that all will be medical doctors no more lab.,Pharm.,Medical rec.,nurses. If cautions are not taken. In my sense of view, every health practisional should be able to raise to post of Chief Medical Directors, Minister or commissional of Health. 1 Like |

phantom: coming from sagamite.........a board certified re.tard. grasping at straws as usual while his betters argue the essence.....lol person, someone certified you as a doctor? No wonder the life expectancy in Nigeria is in the early 50s. Now I get it, in a person's view, the essence is not 'value for money' in the public sector. The government should just throw the money away at inferior productivity and products. God save Nigeria. Moronic nation, moronic people! 3 Likes |

Lets not forget what obtains in other developed countries is different from that of Nigeria. The federal government should at least improve the working conditions of these doctors. All the medical equipment and facilities in our hospitals are not up to international standard. God bless Nigeria. |

phantom: direct your issues and questions to lawyers. This is the person that thinks he is underpaid compared to Western doctors? A sane professional, like the ones we have in the UK, would think about patient care and start exploring how to collate the errors, do some root-cause analysis and then talk about solving the problem. But this person of Nigeria says "Fck you, sue us if you want". 2 Likes |

Why are you people disturbing yourselves? There must be relativity in salaries and other health workers are not fighting against it. The op is a real mumu for posting this. Aren't there better n more pressing issues to be addressed? What about the lack of sophisticated medical equipment in our hospitals which has made docs to be unproductive (mind u, if given the needed facilities they would perform better)? Wake up from your slumber, Mr op and stop majoring on the minor. May God help us in this nation. |
