One scandal after another. This government is determined to defeat itself at the polls. I cannot see any reason for this except to add further voice to those who feel a lot of people are profiting from this conflict. I can name at least a dozen countries that will gladly donate the kind of weapons we need to handle BH. There is no need for this. 2 Likes |

People commenting on this thread are just wasting their time. Nigeria has no shame. This is a big disgrace to Nigeria and all the retired Military officers serving in the present government. This government is a failure and only mediocre who are embezzling the wealth are enjoying themselves. For an information to every Nigerian on this medium, Nigeria has military officers on diplomatic appointment in various countries. They are called Defence Attache, Deputy Defence Attache and some other military office holders. Also, Nigeria Intelligence Agency (NIA) has officers in some countries as well. The duties of these officers are strictly defence and intelligence relationship management between Nigeria and those countries. What happened in South Africa without the Knowledge of defence and NIA team in South Africa and the South Africa military and intelligence agency leading to gross embarrassment of Nigeria as a country and intelligent Nigerians is a case of greediness and great corruption in this government. God will judge. I rest my case. 2 Likes |

manny4life: Most of the funds transfers in today's business environment is done through SWIFT because of its widely acceptance due to openness and transparency upon which the funds are transferred. Making reference to SWIFT was never a mistake or using word out of context, it's just that you lack understanding. |

successking: You sir, is bereft of wisdom and lack the understanding of what SWIFT is. If you had ANY CLUE on SWIFT: what it is and how it works, you wouldn't have made such a reference to the U.S. You wrote "How can a reasonable person transfer money meant for arms through "SWIFT" when it is clear that the American Govt has taken it upon herself....?" What does that infer? Mr. context, please explain in your own words the reason why a person can't transfer money via SWIFT "IF IT IS LEGAL" and heck, please explain, what is the relationship between money transfer via SWIFT and the American Govt..Just in case you forgot what you wrote, here it is again... successking: Btw, is arms dealing not a trade? Don't U.S., Russian and Chinese companies and their govt trade in arms? How is the settlement done? Through the backdoor right? Why can't the Nigerian govt, just like others do not transfer money through that same system? Answer that question and then come back with another answer... For once, CONDEMN THIS ACT. As much as I like GEJ, his officials goofed on this one... Period. If it wasn't that Nigerian Govt was involved, this is a clear case of money laundering. 1 Like |

manny4life: The settlement of the arms cannot go the same way other countries do, because the country (US)that believes she has equal power with God is poised to ensure that Nigeria is divided in 2015 through blocking of arms shipment to Nigeria. |

Rilwayne001: Cock and bull storyAnd do you think if the FG was involved in this it would have been exposed. Common, somebody some where is doing things to shame the FG. If the FG wants to purchase arms they can easily do so legitimately and will use Boko Haram as a cover. Do u think Jonathan administration is that stupid? What does he needs the arms for when PDP Governors are more than APCs. Somebody is painting Nigeria a black image but does not know it turn back to them soon. It is no more news GEJ has won so people tryin to tarnish his image will be covered with same. He left Chad he would had purchased these arms in the name of to fight boko haram. Think before u analyse and make mockery comments. |

EroZA: Interesting.....no one in their right minds would think SA sells arms to countries such as US when Lockheed Martin Corp of the US which makes about $45billion annually from arms sales which is probably half of SA annual budget is still in buisness, there is no SA company on the list of the first 100 arms company in the world neither is SA among the top 10 arms producers in the world,if u in doubt, google is ur friend. The only thing SA can sell to other countries is probably HIV. |

Oh really,so your confisticated oil money wanted to buy HIV?i can't believe my short sentence caused such sweatings....take your spectacle and read this again,SA is one of the top ten BEST ARMS MANUFACTURERS Rooivalk attack helicopter is regarded as one of the top 10 best attack helicopters globally,The G5 and G6 guns are regarded as the best,SA produces best armored vehicles...note that South African armed forces don't use AK47s and don't use Toyota hiluxes...since you are a Nigerian, you will find this difficult to understand, remember SA and Nigeria are not in the same league... neyobills: |

From info I gathered, the arms deal was legitimate and it was a security firm contracted to do the deal on behalf of the FG that ran into hitches. But it's all legit. |

DaBullIT:Well, I have also noticed the consistency in the statements coming from government's direction. It looks like they are telling the truth. What I think happened here is that in a bid to collect kick backs MoD people decided to use third party in the purchase of arms as they usually do, rather than government to government transactions. What I don't get is how we got to such a low point where bunglers are allowed to run things. See embarrassment. 1 Like |

nuclearboy: Ridiculous lies - is it an army general that went to CBN, changed 1.6Billion into dollars, then managed to find Mr BlingBling's jet, an Israeli and 2 of his friends, gave them 9 million dollars in cash and asked they go buy weapons?I think he's being briefed on the mess in Johannesburg. Plus he wouldn't know the small details after approving an arms purchase. There's been a consistency in the government response so far and it doesn't look like there's a cover up. A few months back there was a detailed report written by some international journalist about how our MoD people opt to purchase arms through third parties - to expand the opportunities for kick backs, of course. It has been going on like that forever and our course you can't expect Jonathan's government of Corruption Incorporated to do anything about that. I believe this third-party wheeling dealing led them to this mess. |

ISpiksDaTroof:@kipesco: there are arms embargos places by the US on Nigeria for human rights violations by the extraordinaire naija army. South Africa has since been manufacturing latest high tech weaponry such as the Dassault Mirage multirole fighters, conventional attack submarines, etc.. Do you know the popular Baretta company has a huge manufacturing unit in SA?? What baffels me is this foolish mafia style approach of coming to a country with a private jet & $10m in briefcases wanting to buy weapons. The UK (our godfathers & colonial masters) are the ones all those stupid foolish service chiefs & GEJ would have consulted in principle without prejudice for the sale of armaments! Instead they prefer the big boi rude boi levels!! Appearing with a private jet...... Coming out with designer suits & briefcases! The most painful thing is the C-in-Cb(Jona) is directly involved!! Are they looking at regional distances Why didn't they even ask that devil Putin He would have gladly given them all they wAnted!! |
