Gowon and Obasanjo are also war heros; highly respected by both parties in the conflict and less controversial. Meanwhile Adekunle who played a smaller role is vilified by a section of the country to the extent that few people associated with him before his death. The big question is how do you do your job? Sometimes, result is not the most important aspect of every task.

Thank you for seeing my worries too. Ours is a system that extols illogicality and mediocrity. True heroes and heroines are hardly recognized. Yet if Adekunle had not done the job as duty called, he may have been court-martialed. His rising profile gave his seniors the jitters so they sidelined him. Am beginning to doubt if Gowon is a man of honour or courage. He was head of state and hence prosecuted the war. The buck stopped on his table. In decision-making, theres something called collective responsibility. Awolowo was only a civilian member of an army-dominated cabinet in a military regime and in a time of war. Adekunle was a surbordinate under orders. Awolowo and Adekunle, as men of honour and integrity, had acknowledged their roles under the principle of collective responsibility which are the qualities we admire in the white man but which are so lacking in us. Yet, Gowon, under whose watch the whole episode occured had kept treacherously mute while these two men were being wrongly vilified. He is in a vantage position to clear these men of wrongful accusations or own up as a responsible leader but failed to do either. His shallow thinking and lack of leadership quality led him into a dead-on-arrival movement called "NIGERIA PRAYS" which profitted nothing before its inevitable crash. Why is Nigeria always saddled with bad leaders ? Pensioners who expended the productive part of their lives to serve the country are made to suffer for their retirement rights. Under these circumstances, how do we expect people to give their best to the country ? People that suffered for 35 years for the country suffer for pitance as pensions whilst rogues who serve in national and state assemblies and governorship capacities for 8 years or less will take bloated but undeserved pensions for life after having plundered the common wealth. CAN ANYONE CONVINCE ME NIGERIA IS NOT UNDER A PERPETUAL CURSE THAT CAN ONLY BE EXHORCISED BY DISSOLUTION ?

We all know why Jonathan gave Ojukwu a state burial, to the extent of attending it personally - to get Ndigbo votes in 2011.

Nigeria is a theater of absurdities my brother. Head is tail and tail is head. We are not going anywhere until we get it right.

Time to meet some dead Biafrans in Hell with him. My uncle he killed during the war would torment him. They are all waiting for him to arrive the gate of hell. He murdered a whole village, anything moveable

At least you have acknowledged the fact that your uncles and biafran soldiers who died unsong went to hell. FYI, Adekunle was licensed by the state to kill her enemies which your uncle and rebel soldiers represented, he lived and died as a hero and buried as a hero. To add to your abject sorrow, he is in the bossom of father Abraham. So, your nightmare has only just started.

Delusions. Ojukwu who vowed to make a minced meat out of Nigerian army was draped in Nigeria flag and you are still here talking about finishing. Who finished who?

And to crown his glory in death, some.of the officers who carried his coffin with honour and awe are ndigbo. In other words, Adekunle carried his clinical triumph over ndigbo to the grave. What a truely great man that was.

Trash! Answer the question about bbc?

A hero dies and the world media are mute? The world media are unaware from the day of death to date of burial?

the flood happened only once sha.
The point is that many Yoruba prominent men didn't attend not to talk of people from other regions .
Even Gowon . but none of you want to answer why Gowon didn't attend.
That's too low key for a supposed Nigerian hero.

Lol.
other nationalities carried that of ojukwu.
The question is why did a non hero( Ojukwu) record more befitting burial than a national hero, adekunle.

Sharrap dia

I have seen those floods at least 5 different times in the news.

Where you at the burial? How do you who attended and who didnt?

How do you know Adekunle's family even invited Gowon. It was a befitting burial for a GREAT GENERAL. You dont know his impact, next time you go to your village, ask your father and uncles and see if they wont shiver at the mention of his name

Adekunle was never a political leader like Ojukwu. Ojukwu was both a soldier and a political figure. Adekunle got a military burial and I don't think he would have expected more than that. In life he did not contest for office like ojukwu, all he did was bring the black sheep back to the fold.

Must he be internationally recognized? He was accorded a full military burial and that is what most soldiers get.
