What feat? What rubbish feat? What is it with we nija pple nd calling little springs og glory feats? 4000 megawatts of electricity and we shout halleluyah! South africa with all its vices is sailing on 40,000 megawatts. What is this craze about qualifying for the world cup? Why can't we go crazy for reaching d semis? Must we qualify nd leave after d first round and say, "afterall all we reach 2nd round?" Must u base ur assessments on matches won? Wateva happened to the real deal, d world cup? By now, in all sincerity, we shud av been at d semis of d world cup at least once! All these settling for 'wateva' must stop!

Oga, one achievement ought to be a springboard to another achievement. I am not saying that Keshi shouldn't be relieved to pave way for another to come and see if they can do better if we think he has stalled. However not to acknowledge he achieved something is wicked and callous. No nation achieve anything if his people carry so much vitriol, bitterness, ingratitude, resentment and anger in them. The truth is that concerning the qualification, Keshi is yet to fail, Nigeria can still qualify and the fact he was not left to fail absolve him of any blame should Nigeria fails to qualify. He can say I would have won my remaining matches had I been allowed to finish. In that case, how would you disprove his claims. Whether you want to accept it or not, he won the nation's cup and beat Cote D'evoir and Mali enroute to the final. He achieved something and must be acknowledge for that. You can't want to count from 0 to 100 without counting small figures like 2,3 etc. Great achievement starts with apprecaition of small ones. How many Nigerian Coaches can lay claim to wining Nation's cup. Drop your sentiment and learn to appreciate what people have achieved. I am not saying Keshi should be retained but the attitude of fans towards him is totally repugnant. Afterall, NFF cannot even claim to have sacked him since he didn't have any contract with them in the first instance. His contract long expired and he was only holding forth because the glass house is in tatters and the minister pleaded with him to hold on. Let say Thank you to him for the little he has achieved and let wish him luck in his future endeavour. He deserves more than he currently gets. My opinion.

what I saw was a barbaric display by the Nigerian fans and Nigerian police! even when Sudan won us at home, they didn't rush to the pitch to jubilate but our sunburned brains couldn't help us to be civilized and the Nigerian police even with the dogs, horse riders and ground staffs couldn't control the crowd! such a big shame is my country Nigeria.

I wonder what was Coach Keshi's crime. He should call Uche? Or Martin's? Are there not players in the country who could do better?

I do not think they was a hostile reception of Coach Keshi because he left his technical area through out the game. That does not signify a man being pelted,

Thank you Coach Keshi for your hard work. The new stars you discovered for the country and the home based lads you exposed and gave them hope for a better life.

By John Egbokha

President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Amaju Pinnick has said that Coach Stephen
Keshi was sacked to safeguard him from the wrath of enraged Nigerian fans, who were on the
brink of lynching him during Wednesday’s 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier with Sudan.

Pinnick and other NFF Executive Committee members watched with awe, as fans pelted Keshi
with water bottles and stones as they demanded for the head of the 2013 AFCON winner at the
Abuja National Stadium, venue of the match, which Nigeria won 3-1 to keep alive their hopes of
qualifying for next year’s tournament in Morocco.

Chants of “Keshi must go:, “sack Keshi” and “we don’t want Keshi
again” rented the air as fans went overdrive in their bid to get their
voices heard by the NFF, who swiftly swung into action in the wee
hours of yesterday by axing the former Togo and Mali coach.

And speaking when he paid a courtesy visit to the Minister of Sports
and Chairman, National Sports Commission, Dr. Tamuno Danagogo
yesterday, Pinnick explained the personal safety of Keshi was
considered more important than anything else.

Pinnck, it was learnt told the Minister that he was shocked with the
hostile reception of the fans towards Keshi, arguing that it would be
dangerous for Keshi to remain as coach in the face of such hostility.

He added that it was the first time in recent years that abuses and stones were rained down on a
Nigerian coach by fans.

“It was too much to bear. The fans were coming for him and it was going to be a security risk for
us as people had ran out of patience and were prepared to break the law to achieve their aim.

Keshi’s personal safety was paramount in our decision to relieve him of his duties”, Pinnick said.

The Chairman of the NFF coming out to tell the whole world and whoever cared to listen that Coach Stephen Keshi was 'SACKED' to save his life from being 'MOBBED' by angry fans due to recent results in the on-going nations cup qualifiers. Can you imagine this statement?

What a lame excuse!!!

Anyway, anything and just about anything goes in Nigeria.

Too Bad!!!

As per my own opinion , more reason why nff gave this lame excuse , nff would have love to at least allow him to clean up the ground , let see the outcome , but you no ur country pple nau , nigerians are most hardest set of pple to govern in this world , many calls for for keshi head to roll nff may not be able to risk the outcome if they don't follow suit on time .

And for amodu ? I'll say Lord knows ...

It's "most stupi.d" sir.

My guy you are wrong!! So wrong!! English has evolved. Both are acceptable. Google is your friend.

The American Heritage Dictionary of the English Language (4th ed.), for example, gives the forms as “stupid” … “stupider” … “stupidest.”

And this is not just about American English... H. W. Fowler’s Dictionary of Modern English Usage also gives the correct forms as “stupid” … “stupider” … “stupidest.”

If the reason for sacking Keshi is true, then we need to do the same with our non performing goverment officials who watched the country deteriorate to this level. Pelt them all the way from the top to the NFF level. Hian.

Truth be told this pinick will likely ruin our football further with careless statements like this, this means that it is the people who have little or no knowledge of the game that now determine the fate of coaches, now this is a bad precedence

NO, we could have celebrated in defeat if he had played an appealing brand of football, the only match i can celebrate Keshi was the match against Cote D'voire AFCON. The only thing Keshi has as a coach is boldness. Siasia is far ahead of him when it comes to substitution, timing, appealing, purposeful and attractive brand of football.

i congratulate u for daring to hold out for praise when others are hauling an endless barrage of criticism and invectives. More often than not we forget that this people are humans with feelings. Keshi did his best and gave the best for his country. For what it's worth his efforts in the last Nations Cup tourney stands him out amongst many. Much as it's severally reiterated that he's got no tactical and technical inclinations, he's proven he can deliver where certain other expatrates with 'profound' understanding of the game have not! SO HAIL STEPHEN KESHI, FOR HE HAS TRIED.....

Good luck to Keshi. He has definitely done his bits. He has it on record as an indigenous coach who won the nations cup for the country.
And to Amodu, I wish u a successful tenure.
Amodu isn't yet hired on full-time basis. He's just interim coach till qualification is over.

And who in Nigeria had ever been celebrated in defeat? Many Nigerians are purely emotional people who would rather appeal to tribal affiliation, luck, etc than logic. The same Siasia you are routing for now, is he not the same man you all called for his head some years back? What did he achieved? What did he win? Winning is what matters and that's why the world hailed the likes of Mourinho even when he played dirty. Consistently win your game and whatever style you play becomes a brand on its own. Time is of essence when you focus on long term goal. People who focus on long term achievement don't take decision in haste the way we do in our society.
