Religious permutations don't matter so long we have competent hands assigned. GEJ/Sambo a christian/muslim ticket has so far given us boko haram, corruption now called stealing, missing girls, missing 20billion dollars, thuggery at its finest, immigration job scam which led to thousands of youths parting ways with their hard-earned money and also 19 colleagues of theirs etc. What good has religion brought to the nation if not private jet pastorpreneurs? We need to use our heads now and do the right thing. Do we now want to throw away fashola's achievement and track record just cos he's muslim? Where were all that when we were enjoying the massive transformation of lagos? Muslim/muslim ticket in the sense of buhari/fashola will have the north vote in bloc and the sophisticated SW region who are not bigoted towards religion unlike the SE and SS who dislike islam and would dislike a good and performing man just cos he's a muslim. What is the SE not bigoted towards? They call their fellow brothers OSU(outcast), anglicans dislike the catholics while an anambra man feels other ibos are inferior to him. If we make the mistake of listening to the cries of these visionless people who have pitched their tent with a clueless leader who blinded them with crumbs and empty promises, we'll only have ourselves to blame.

First of all, a Buhari/Fashola ticket is not going to happen. Don't ask me why.

That aside, why is a highly influential party elder like Akande pre-empting the outcome of their party primaries by touting Buhari as the preferred presidential candidate when he knows there are other contestants in the race who also paid for their nomination forms ? This will give other contenders the idea that they won't have a level playing field in the party primaries and could cause discord within the party.

Not Bisi Akande

im sorry but no no
look bro,the issue is not even about muslim ticket or not. Abiola and kingibe were both muslims but yet they won overwhelmly, but that was a 2 party system and the party they were in sdp was very very strong with a national base . Apc has not even reached half of that level ,there is no 2 way about it whichever candidadte apc presents will lose woefully in the next elections .the reality on ground doesn't favour apc one bit. Don't be surprised that akande is playing a card they instructed him to. Apc is testing the waters to see nigerians reactions to this combination. My own advice to apc is too concentrate and win more states .there is and will be no vacancy in aso rock

religion should not be invovled in politics. Religion is suppose to be a personal relationship between you and God.
That's how it's suppose to be but unfortunately, it's a factor to be considered in Nigerian politics and politicians are very much aware of it...that's the reality and we have to face it squarely ..

Will you be saying the same if both were christians?
Can you tell me why the Presidential ticket of APC cannot go to anyone other than a northerner?
Stop pretending like Nigeria is one super-liberal country like that.

I will say thesame if both were christian.
The problem is that we live in a country where a greater percentage o f Nigeria lives in the North. This guys are super conservative, at this point we need to give the presidency to them. We are now lucky that the best man for the job is fron the region, so it all play well.

I'm not denying the fact that northern Muslim will not support a Christian candidate. my question is, must we be as stupid as some northern illitrate folks ( I'm not generalizing, only the illiterate ones)?

not really. Abiola and his VP candidate were both Muslim and they won the elections. Most people care more about tribe or region than religion in politics.

This combo is a killing and a sure banker( credibility and performer/reformer)

The only people who will negate this combo are TANdroids, bigoted ethnic and religious fanatics who forgot that Christians have ruled Nigeria in the last 12years out of 15years of our democratic experience since obasanjo in 1999 yet there is poverty, corruption, insecurity and impunity pervading our nationhood.

Let see who have the bloc to deliver electoral victory between a North that hero worship Buhari and a SW that loves Performance and purpose driven leadership irrespective of religious creed and some elements in the SE who assume an Ebere/azikiwe is getting.revenge for them for the events of 1967-1970 whether he perform or not doesn't matter as long as he has waged an illconceived and illprepare war against supposed terrorists that should have been exterminated years ago by a responsive Govt, he has their vote and that of their unborn children and also some elements in.the SS who feel na our pikin and our oyel he can do anything.

If the country is properly and govern purposefully it will be for the general good of all. We can't.continue to have PDP 15years of the Locust. We have suffer enough misery through the irresponsible style of governance they have given Nigeria.

I will rather vote individual with credible and known trait of responsesbility than think of which region he comes from or which religion he practised.

Salahadeen was a Muslim yet he is reverred and celebrated in Jewish history for saving thousand of.Jews but Hitler was a Christian but cursed for.the killing of millions of Jews during the 2nd world war.

Buhari/fashola is a yes yes for me based on their antecedents. A nightmare to the PDP and all ethnic/religious jingoist who can't see beyond his selfish prism/horizon.

It is obvious from comments on this thread that many nigerians don't know anything about nigerian politics or even nigerian politicians.

Nobody should try to takeaway the credit from him

Buhari/Fashola combo is toxic. It will re-affirm that APC is a Muslim Brotherhood Party of Nigeria which will vindicate Metuh and PDP who accused the party of nursing Islamic agenda. So such combination is dead on arrival.

nomination form is open to both christians and muslims. There will be a primary election and the most supported candidate will win the ticket irrespective of religion. The candidate as a solution to our national problems of insecurity, corruption, power failure, unemployment, poverty, underdevelopment, dented foreign relations, lies about booming economy that does not reflect on the common man, just to mention a few should be the issue. Can you show me any of this problems above that religion of the president and the VP had solved?

even then sdp had the strongest politicians in their party, people like shehu yar adua , adedibu and co. They had almost all the ex generals in their fold it was more or less like the official goovt party. They had politicians that could influence votes in all states and region ,but apc hasn't got any of these. Even if pdp presents 2 candidates from the same religion they will win because of the party structure and national spread which they have. Like I always tell people there is no way apc can win the presidency in 2015 no matter who they present

I concur...I think APC would've concentrated in winning more states and National assembly seats, and when they've captured a greater percentage of the states, then they will move and capture the FG in one swoop..Tinubu did a fantastic job in SW by capturing almost all the states there but I guess he is gradually loosing it because of over concentration at the center as a result of this meager..Ifh care is not taken,he is gonna loose more SW states to PDP..Though his followers are not aware especially on NL here..Tinubu has concluded arrangement to secure his pride(SW) he so much labored for because he has been skimmed out from the presidential race and if APC wins, they gonna hijack the SW party structure from him using federal might, but Tinubu will never allow that happen..Instead he will secure it using every available means...a bird in hand is worth more than millions in the bush

Gullible Nigerians. Always bringing irrelevant factors into governance as if good or bad governance discriminates with religion, tribe or colour.

The problem is mostly with the so-called elites (and semi-illiterates just like many NLers) who you would think should know better. Unfortunately they're the ones who mislead their beneficiaries/followers blindly.

If corruption is drastically reduced, is it only the Muslims that stand to benefit from the positive results? Or is it only the Lagos Muslims that benefit from Fashola's achievement in Lagos? Surely it's not only the Christians of Nigeria that suffer the mismanagement of GEJ's administartion.

It really is amusing how some ethnocentric and religiously intolerant element blind themselves to what is very obvious because of how they desperately want GEJ to continue in power. How many in the North will reject Buhari today considering GEJ has totally abandoned the North in the past five years and treated the region like some unfancied outpost of Nigeria ala 'Chukotka' Ambramovich? It is crystal clear to Northerners that GEJ and his ethnocentric supporters host disdain for the region and her plight. Boko Haram was allowed to spiral out of control and GEJ was busy dancing Azonto at a political rally literally before they could take away the dead bodies of the Nyanya bombing victims. This is the same GEJ who has failed to visit the North and show solidarity with the people of the region as all focused and brave leaders do worldwide. The North has seen a ferocious and unrelenting attack on its right to exist and be a legitimate part of Nigeria by the 'Lord's resistance army' movement of GEJ. My conclusion is that GEJ should forget the North if contesting against any Northerner let alone the ultra-popular Buhari who is a cult-like figure amongst the ordinary folks of the North GEJ has failed the most.

In the SW, and without dragging issues too long, is it not obvious many will go to the poll to vote for Fashola becoming substantive VP to Buhari because he is a much loved and proven performer most people in the region place far above the dour and misruling duo of GEJ and Sambo? Does it not make sense also that many in the SW, plus even Nigeria and the world beyond Africa, will believe Fashola will contribute immense technocratic finesse and efficacy to a Buhari presidency?

Secondly, it is most people's belief that Fashola is a Nigerian President in waiting. What better way to make this a foregone conclusion than by voting him as VP and next in line to replace Buhari? How many South-westerner, even if not particularly fond of Buhari, would sabotage the much loved Fashola for GEJ and Sambo who have done absolutely for the entire nation let alone the SW?

This is a potent combo for the reality of today but we cannot expect the ethnocentric, religously biased and "chop sand crew"(hell bent on post civil war vengeance against others to the extent of desperately viewing GEJ as the man to help them attain such never mind his hideous misrule of Nigeria ) to ever agree with the state of affairs on the ground and the commonsensical permutations matching the reality of today

bros ,thank God at least someone is facing the truth. Apc and tinubu are presently fighting the full onslaught of pdp on the sw, so far apc has dropped 2 states and from all indications they will still drop more states in the south west maybe 1 or 2. The mistake of tinubu and his psycophants was the merger which they did with other parties . Believe me ,ac n then was getting stronger and they would have penetrated into the south east easily but the merger has so far proved to be a stumbling block. What apc didn't know was that the merger they did was to pdp advantage. Now apc is booged down with internal wranglings which has seen them lose some states. What will eventually happen is the repeat of what happened to ribadu , when it becomes obvious that apc will lose ,tinubu and co will prefer to spend their money on retaining their power base in the sw and leave the presidential candidate to sort himself out. One thing people don't realize is that absolute power corrupts absolutely , that is the reason why tinubu and many many other nigerian politicians will never allow a person like buhari to win because he can never trusted with power.

In other words, any other combination cannot defeat GEJ. We dey wait for unable. After you will say GEJ govt marginalised the Yorubas. If Fashola is that good n acceptable why not propagate for Fashola to contest as president instead of Buhari's running mate. So Yoruba's are good enough for second position.
