INEC is satisfied because he presented an affidavit but we the masses he is aspiring to lead is not satisfied because the affidavit is false which is against the law, that's why we will go to court and pursue the matter to a logical conclusion.

What is false in the affidavit? Are his documents not with the military? Are you also aware that the military ransacked his house when he was overthrown by IBB,carting away his vital documents, including certificates? You need to do more research,Google is your friend!

Please do not commit perjury ooo..

Who are ''we the masses''? Have you conducted any poll? If you are not aware, most of the masses of Nigeria are satisfied with the constitution and the electoral act requirements. You do not need a PhD to be president of Nigeria, but experience, capacity, capability and vision.

Anyway,GMB has more than school cert.He has complied fully with the laws of the land.I admire his calmness over this nonsensical hooey.A general that has attended the best degree awarding military institutions in the world(local and international),has enough education to lead Nigeria. He has done it before!!!!!!!

Section 31 of the Electoral Act and 318 of the constitution are very clear(The law is not interested in any certificate, but just an assurance that you are educated),an affidavit is sufficient ,according to the law:

This can not be said for Buhari who sat for the exams probably more than 50 years ago. Now the military has photocopies of these certificates and PDP knows this. Like I said, the General owes them no explanation whatsoever. They should go to court.

did waec tell you they no longer have records of exams conducted fifty yerars ago? if that is the case it makes it easier for buhari to forge any results and claim it was written in the 1960s.

WAEC actually has records for every exam it has ever conducted, and if buhari actually has an waec certficate, this issue would have long been resolved

I really don't understand why you've chosen to disgrace yourself or exposed your ignorance in this manner.

First, you forgot to quote the electoral guard line for the 2015 election.

War College certificate is a professional certificate - not an academic certificate.

After all,it takes about five years to get WASC. You go for a short training in War College
Re: Certificate Saga: PDP Rejects Buhari's Explanation, Demands His Certificate by munex007(m): 12:20pm On Jan 20, 2015
Prof. Itse Sagay (SAN), the Constitutional lawyer has stated that Buhari's academic qualification is equivalent to a Master's Degree.

He said this in response to Mr. Mike Ozekhome (another lawyer)'s claim that Buhari was not qualified to contest in the elections due to his failure to provide his certificate.

Saga has argued that thee's no requirement in the constitution saying he must provide his certificate, noting that Buhari attended the Military Training College in kaduna; the Mons Officer Cadet School in the United Kingdom; and the Army War College in the United States.

His words: “This whole discussion of Buhari’s qualification is a negative distraction from the legitimate process of electioneering which should involve issues, records of the candidates, their character, and their capacity to govern. These are things we should be talking about.

“The constitution is very clear on the issue of qualification. It states that you are qualified to be a President if you have achieved the level of school certificate or its equivalent. Buhari has been to Military College in Britain, he has been to colleges in India and USA, involving high level of training and intellect.

“We need to ask if participation and completion of courses at these levels and the basic officers training in Mons Officers Cadet School are less than school certificates. On the contrary, you need school certificate to attend those courses. So, if he has attended all those courses, then there is absolutely no need to be talking about secondary school certificates anymore.

“So, this man attended secondary school and we hear he was even the head boy. He has been to the Cadet School in Mons, he attended the War College in the US and was given a certificate which is equivalent to a master’s degree.

“If I may add, how has the Ph.D of the President helped this country?” he concluded.

Chynx:

There is nothing shameful there my dear. Here's a comment from a reasonable fellow below:

ApexTitan:

If you lose your certificate the proper thing is to go to the certificate issuing body and request for a new copy, getting an affidavit is a temporary solution. For someone who is running for the office of the president one would assume that Buhari would have sorted this matter a long time ago. He should go to whatever school he attended and request for a new copy of his certificate. Surely the school will be oblige to help him, which school will not want to cash in on the fact that one of its former students is vying for the office of the president?

Buhari's insistence that he has fulfilled the INEC requirements even when these questions remain is damaging to his cause.

it is either apc took a political gamble on buhari, knowing fully well that he doesn't have the required documents but banked their assumption on the fact that since he got away with it thrice ,then he will get away with it again OR buhari fooled tinubu and co into believing he was fully qualified and not disclosing the fact that he doesn't have the necessary papers .

Constitutional lawyer, Prof. Itse Sagay, says the qualification Maj.Gen Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) has is equivalent to a Master’s degree.Sagay, who is a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, said this while reacting to a claim by another senior advocate, Mr. Mike Ozekhome, that Buhari was not qualified to contest because he could not provide his certificate.

Sagay said there was nowhere in the constitution where it was stated that a candidate of a political party must provide his certificate.

He said Buhari attended the Military Training College in Kaduna; the Mons Officer Cadet School in the United Kingdom; and the Army War College in the United States.

He said anyone that did not have a secondary school certificate could not have attended such prestigious military schools.

Re: Certificate Saga: PDP Rejects Buhari's Explanation, Demands His Certificate by PointB: 12:24pm On Jan 20, 2015
The truth is that he was never qualified for entry into the Military Academy in the first place and consequently he should never have become a commissioned officer let alone a man that rose to the rank of General. At best he ought to have remained a non-commissioned officer. As long as he cannot produce that secondary school certificate, we believe that he is not qualified to run for the Presidency of Nigeria. This is a matter of law and not sentiment.

The is hitting the nail on the head; the heart of the matter!

Buhari is running foul of the law because he believe he has the backings of almajiris (like himself) who are ready to unleash mayhem should he be disqualified. It is best he honorably withdraws from the race, to allow those more eminently qualified to enjoy the fruit of their labour.

It's become glaring that indeed Buhari is an unlettered bigot; a bloody semi-illiterate! Buhari has longed reaped where he did not sow; this impunity should stop! Enough is enough!!

Buhari should bow out of the race or #Buharishowyourcertificate

He would have been better off declaring it lost in his oath than telling INEC and all Nigerians that the certificate is in existence, available and within reach but he's either just too lazy to secure it from his previous place of work or he doesn't give a flying fvck about constitutional/statutory provisions.

Anyone not satisfied should approach the court or contact the school buhari attended. This is how civilised people do things.

That is not good enough. Buhari is essentialy asking the Nigerian electorate for a 'job'. So if I go to look for work and they tell me to bring my qualifications, I should tell my potential employers to go to court to get it? I believe that there is something not right about Buharis qualification otherwise his campaign team would have published it by now. I think that it's either Buhari has no qualification or that the result of the certificate is so bad that if they publish it, it will make Buhari a laughing stock.

Buhari was trained in War College as a soldier - not taught how to resolve Mathematical equations, History, Economics, Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Commerce, Geography, etc. that are taught for five to six years in secondary schools.

Five to six years in secondary school is not a joke.

War College Certificate is never equivalent to Masters degree. In any case, one needs WASC and First Degree to proceed for Masters degree. Buhari has neither.

War College certificate is a professional certificate, just like a certificate which a carpenter, bricklayer or Machinist gets from any college after a few months training.

I think I am begining to love Buhari and his team of CHANGE like they call themselves, but a leader should lead by example and I think no one is asking for anything more than his SSCE result which I believed he used in entering the millitary academy.
Let him go to that millitary academy and collect his admission details and we'll see if truely he entered the school with a SSCE result.
This one that he is talking about a school in America, I believe he attended the American school after he finished in the Millitary academy. A Post graduate studies aspirant won't be asked to tender his SSCE result but his University certificate. So I believe the school in America admitted him based on his NDA certificate and the NDA admitted him based on what?
He should just stop this madness.

The most crucial matter concerning GMB's certificate saga is the addiction by INEC of its constitutional role of ensuring compliance with the electoral act.

Jega is wrong in stating that INEC lacks statutory right to demand compliance with electoral act.

PDP or its sympathisers have definitely approached the court on the matter, but guess what: it is not about asking GMB to produce his certificate which he, obviously doesn't have, but to compel INEC to perform it's duty of demanding GMB to provide the certificate or his name will not be on the list of candidates.

Now, why this issue is truly a headache for APC:
GMB claimed to have WAEC (mind you, not the equivalent). If he fails to produce the certificate (which is pretty obvious at this moment that he doesn't possess such, never attained such), his crime will be that is making wrong declaration (under oath). No more issue of equivalent of WASC which is basically a judgemental matter.

Howbeit, basic fact is that Nigeria of today has gone beyond what such people like GMB represent. Favouritism of people of northern Nigeria since the colonial era is the root cause of corruption and lack of progress in Nigeria.

I expect the educated people of Nigeria to stand their ground and say in unison that Nigeria of today deserves a leader with much better qualification than WASC. Otherwise the gains we made in the education and other sectors will be in vain

GMB has consistently asserted that he possesses education up to senior secondary certificate level, the burden is on him to prove said assertion as required by law. Nobody has gone on oath to state that GMB got into d NA without requisite academic qualifications, it is mere speculation arising from the failure of GMB to discharge the burden placed on him by reason of his assertion on oath.

I won't be surprised if pdp is just bidding its time,so that by the time they go to court ,it will be too late for apc to substitute buhari name with another .

Dear buhari,as an igbo man,i refuse to be fooled by tribalistic sentiment. GEJ is an ijaw man while am igbo so i dont see the connection,i can as well call u my broda since jonathan is now igbo. Leadership shouldnt have anytin to do with tribe bt 2015 campaigns have made me to see otherwise from our supposed leaders who are supposed to be nationalists. In summary,i want u to kw that even if u eventually present Milo satchet as ur certificate........YOU HAVE MY VOTE

No, PDP was good enough to APC when in late December 2014, PDP said Goodluck Jonathan was to contest against a semi-illiterate in next election.
It was a coded message to APC regarding Buhari's certificate issue,

but APC could not decode the message. If APC got the message then, it could have substituted Buhari with another clean candidate before it became late shortly after.

Clueless APC bandits on this forum should earnestly tell Buhari to obey the law. Jega and INEC must submit to the extant laws of the land as well. INEC telling PDP or aggrieved citizens to go to court is lazy and incompetent. It is trite that the requirement is WAEC or you are disqualified. If the executive president can submit himself, then others must comply. APC are handing JONATHAN an easy victory by default.

I am pissed off by people like you.You are referring to the law,but you have not read it!I am deliberating re-posting because of mischief makers like you:

INEC says it is satisfied,in tandem with the constitution and has accepted and published GMB's name as a presidential aspirant.

What's this hooey all about?

Anyway,GMB has more than school cert.He has complied fully with the laws of the land.I admire his calmness over this nonsensical hooey.

Section 31 of the Electoral Act and 318 of the constitution are very clear(The law is not interested in any certificate, but just an assurance that you are educated),an affidavit is sufficient ,according to the law:

But where is WAEC in all this? Is WAEC office in the moon? Don't they have records?

Are his documents not with the military? Are you also aware that the military ransacked his house when he was overthrown by IBB,carting away his vital documents, including certificates? You need to do more research,Google is your friend!

You do not need a PhD to be president of Nigeria, but experience, capacity, capability and vision.

You are out of touch. Without prejudice. The constitutional requirement quoted above has since been amended. The candidate must attach his minimum qualification, WAEC in the case of Buhari to his application. This is why his affidavits sufficed in the earlier elections. But since 2012, you must attach a copy of your certificates. What INEC should do is to obey the law, by cancelling his candidature instead of suggesting that they are not constitutionally allowed to disqualify Buhari, out of fear. Perhaps jega needs to be reminded about the oath he swore, when he accepted the job. Buhari is looking increasingly forlorn, and exasperated by all these. He is increasingly looking jaundiced.
