How about jamming the frequencies those shit use? Won't cost much

ugo4u:

Shooting them with rifles remains the most effective and cheapest way to bring them down.
Note BH drones are not sophisticated (military class), at best they're the type used by TV stations and school kids which could be gotten over the shelf. It doesn't make sense to use bombs or sophisticated missiles to neutralise them because
1) the drones usually fly at very low altitudes making it very difficult or almost impossible to be picked up by radar.
2) Air strikes or similar force will lead to collateral damages.
4) Again the cost of running sorties and logistics alike is unsustainable.
Possibly snipers placed strategically within the four walls of the base will do the job without sweat.

As a
But despite the huge amount above we are still proud of flying F-7, Alpha Jet and L-39 as front line aircraft.

Our Naval flagships are oil-spill control equipped OPVs.

Vickers is still our front line tank.

Yes I said so.

With less than 60 T-72 inducted, even before attrition started, it was never our front line tank so please don't tell me what I know.

Giant of Africa for mouth, yet ordinary Uganda have or are awaiting a total fleet of 100 T-90 S.

Yes they may be mostly un serviceable, but at least they are there for reactivation in times of need.

Which one we get, dey claim Giant?!!

Who do us this thing abeg?!!
I don't believe anyone here is proud the NAF is flying F-7s and Alpha jets.

We deserve a military that is strong and well equipped, and also well trained. Very important.

Until our defence budget is significantly improved, wouldn't it be best to invest in the military equipment and training that is needed?

Maybe if we had, had this sort of air chief in the period of crooks Badeh and Amosu we would not be talking about 6 JF-17s for the past how many years.

Despite the huge efforts of this current Air chief we can see that for the level of Nigeria we still have a poor air force. I mean Morocco recently ordered 24 F-16V Block 72 fighter jets and hundreds of M1 Abrams tanks, including 24 Apache helicopters.

So yes, our military is still poor.

To change this our Defence spending has to improve by a minimum 100%.

Uganda doesn't have 100 T-90s, they only have a few.

if we had this kind of CAS back then our Airforce would have seen a turn...the guy is trying Even due to budget restrain he still tries to acquire small/cheap and capable platforms just to meet up....He has engaged personnel on Research and development just to reduce the importation of some aircraft spares we now proudly produce the Hydraulic diaphram of the MI helicopter series,we produced the Test bench for the Alpha jet Anti skid system,I don't think we still import Rockets and it's pod for Alpha jets cos we have improved a lot in our Rocket technology,The NAF has added another advance ISR platform to it's fleet thanks to R&grin,NAF is working alongside NASRDA for the development of Missile technology and Extended Rockets,We are on the verge of unveiling the NAFSA eagle Aircraft and Ichoku combat drone,If we eventually upgrade the hexacopter UAV it will be a very perfect battlefield instrument All thanks to R&grin we have gone a long way in the 4yrs of the Current CAS rule... We should appreciate their efforts....

The current CAS is trying his best, but we can all see that he does not have money to spend.

So he's making judicious use of the money he has. The last time, he was begging the senate to help fund deals.

Look at the procurements he has done, he goes for platforms that are multirole. The AW-139K, Super Tucano, JF-17 and MI-35M.

In 2014, NAF base was attacked and 2 MI-24 aircrafts and MIG-21s were burned down. In response to this he pushed for heavy investment in the NAF Regiment and Panther units to not only force protect, but to actively seek out on destroy enemy elements before the can launch an attack.

Yet you have the likes of SSBN ranting unnecessarily to the contrary.

NDA Excercise Camp Highland.

EXERCISE CAMP HIGHLAND ENDS IN KONTAGORA, AMIDST PLANS TO EXTEND EXERCISE TO OTHER PARTS of NIGERIA

The Exercise Camp Highland for final year cadets of the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA)has concluded at Kontagora, Niger State, with plans to extend the exercise to other parts of the country to give cadets a more diverse training experience.

This information was revealed by the Commandant NDA, Major General Adeniyi Oyebade, during the closing ceremonies of the exercise at Kontagora. According to him, this was necessary in order for the cadets to be adequately acquainted to all different terrains possible so that they could function optimally in any military operation. "On my assumption of command at NDA, I presented a plan to the NDA Council to have different training grounds for our cadets training. And it was approved", he said.

" The essence is that on commission, we would have different courses who are trained in different terrains exchanging ideas on how to go about any challenges they encounter in an operation" he added.

The Commandant, who noted that over the past 40 years, the training exercise has primarily been conducted around the Jos - Kaduna axis, gave assurances that this new trend will make the cadets more ready for deployment to tackle security challenges in the country.

"I assure the leadership of our country and the leadership of the military that these cadets, on commission, have been trained adequately and given the necessary fundamental training to be able to carry out tactical operations at whatever level and they have been sufficiently trained to deploy and to conduct operations in the face of the security challenges we face now, essentially asymmetric warfare, kidnapping, banditry and others", he revealed.

Speaking at the Battle Inoculation and Fire Power phase of the exercise, the Executive Governor of Niger State, Abubakar Sani Bello, buttressed the need for joint military operations in forest areas of the state in order to reduce banditry attacks, cattle rustling and kidnapping accros the state. While noting that Niger State has large forests areas that have become hideouts for bandits assured that his administration is ready to partner with security agencies that want to conduct extensive military exercises in the state.

Earlier, NDA's Director of Military Training, Brigadier General Victor Onumajuru disclosed that the aim of the exercise is to give the officer cadets basic experience of tactical military manoeuvres carried out in land operations. He praised the efforts of the current NDA Commandant for his foresight and vision in ensuring the cadets are exposed to all kinds of terrains in the country, noting that on commission these cadets can quickly deploy and fight to win.

The Exercise Camp Highland which for cadets of 66 Regular Course, 67 Regular Course and Short Service Course 45 had a total of six hundred and thirty five cadets participate in all activities during the exercise. Of this number, forty-four were female cadets.

A nationwide march/protest in the interest of security and social needs is just and the way to go; couching it in terms such as Revolution was the wrong move.

Nigeria is long overdue for a revolution against this inept useless APC government of president Buhari. These guys have been committing sacrilege against the state and to rub insult on injury at every turn of their maladministration they continue to talk down on the Nigerian people like we are gullible. An example is when the president's spokesman said at the height of the herdsmen murderous rampage: "it's better to be above ground than beneath". A quote you can directly read off the lips of Buhari himself. I mean these guys say publicly what they hear him say in secret. That's how useless the current president is. The list goes on & on including stealing the election by game of cards.

The word revolution in itself is not a bad word depending on how you adduce it. There's violent revolution and there's peaceful revolution. The Nigerian people have every right to revolt against a government that does not care for it but only exists for itself. This is a country that citizens are molested by it's own government that has not provided one dynamic social service since inception rather taking us back by every matrix of measuring social development indicators.

Such a useless president in Buhari. I regretted ever having supported that man to get there in the first place. See our people treated like garbages around the world. Our military asked to fight with lean means and dying everyday against a better motivated enemy while them and their children go abroad for the best medical care yet send wounded soldiers to die in ill-equipped hospitals. How bad can it get. Other north african countries where there's been revolution like Algeria or even Sudan has not had an absentee president like this. Enough is enough. People should wake up.

Example: New recruits of the German Army. These guys are so well remunerated and insured that you want to do the job and do it well. Now Germany has just ordered 6 new C-130Js and 3 new KC-130J. You think that's impossible with Nigeria? Nah, it is not, don't listen to them. They are stealing your money. We have guys ready to die for the country for nothing yet look how they are treated. People die in war but in our case many could have still been alive if not for the backwardness of our leaders since the 80's.

If Buhari the "Mr Clean" could steal an election with Tinubu's help by game of cards and voter suppression while his cronies are walking free lining their pockets and the opposition hounded like rats for the slaughter then mark my words there's no hope for the common man. Besides these guys who are benefactors of PDP's Jonathan goodwill are not looking to relinquish power anytime soon in order to fulfill their AKP Party type politics in Nigeria where everyone is so subjugated including the military that if care is not taken we might end up even becoming both a feudal and theocratic state. The cards are already been gamed playing Nigeria's ethnicities against one another. Painful it is. You keep asking how did we get to this place. Just how could we allow a closet dictator with a religious strain take high office and now taking us back to the stone age. Nigeria can't survive this except a change is made.

See something about revolution is that they are called "revolution" only when they succeed. If they fail they are callef act of terrorrism
