Learning how to speak English correctly starts in primary school and ends in secondary school, you can improve on your vocabulary by either the books you read, movies you watch and of course the people around you. Also family background and environment affects ones fluency. No body teaches you English in the university unless its your course of study. 5 Likes |

OP, you don show yourself to be a 1/8th graduate sef! Lol! You can actually look for someone. Duh! Ola, something is smelling. Can you hear it...ehen!!! 'HEAR'? English!!! Seems you concentrated on the HEAR. What is 'Something is smelling' in the 1st place? One very common one that irritates is eg: Let's make it better for you and I. It's you and me please! 1 Like |

BomboyOnline:Most English words are supposed to be used appropriately. The verb, 'look', mostly connotes 'searching for a missing stuff or person'. It is not appropriate to use it when you have gone to check on someone but met someone else. 1 Like |

Rapmoney: I wish you had put this effort refining our native languages, so we could also learn something new about them. Nigeria have over 370 languages begging for your attention. By the way, ''Oya, come and go'' and ''you're showing yourself'' are phrases created by Nigerians and there's nothing wrong using them, as long as you're talking to a fellow Nigerian. In fact, if we use them proudly all over the world; like Americans do, it may end up in the Oxford English dictionary as reference to Nigeria. Americans do have so many of such phrases in English dictionaries, and they call it American English. some graduates would say.'expansiate'when they want you to explain in greater detail. The correct word to use is 'expatiate'. The former is not even in the dictionary. |

Re: 10 English Sentences That Can Make You Appear As A 'Quarter-Baked' Graduate by Rapmoney(m): 10:43pm On May 02, 2016 |
floragregs:You are wrong! 'Yet' is a conjunction while 'still', in the context it has been used, can still serve its purpose because it emphasizes something. Do a thorough ground work before you claim chief of mistake detectors! Now, take a look at this: 'I was hot and exhausted BUT I STILL finished the marathon'. Does it mean because 'BUT' that happens to be a conjunction is in the sentence so we should throw away the 'STILL'? |
