There are a lot of guns better than AK47. Even Russia where the gun was designed stopped using it since 1978. mrvitalis: |

Can you count how many boko haram have killed? can you count the number if women and children they have raped? the number of people bombed?/the number of families whose lives have been forever ripped apart?? Those who have lost their homes? Those displaced? Please let's apply sense to whatever situation or topic we encounter. |

PaulIdu:Guy, no army uses ak47s again, except armies of third world countries like somalia, Afghanistan and other african countries, but not by an army of our standing, it is also mostly used by terrorists. The ak47 the NAF are using was designed in 1947 and started production 1949 -1959, barrel: 7.62 × 39mm . New assault rifles are now being produced with, better accuracy, light weight, easy handling, and can be used to launch grenades, like the MI6, m4 and beryl assault rifles etc 2 Likes

It's an unarmed vehicle used to look for and disarm bombs planted in the ground i.e. IEDs. Serves a difference purpose from an armoured tanker or other vehicles and will not be used under fire but to clear the ground of bombs so soldiers and tanks can go across safely misgab: |

IRobot7: The RPG is basically a grenade with a mini solid propellant rocket attached to its base to help the grenade cover distance that the hand or spring loaded grenade launchers cant.... While the Bazooka is a recoiless anti tank Rocket armed with High Explosive Charge. 2 Likes 1 Share |

PaulIdu:M16 is better in accuracy and range, it is lighter, more balanced and less recoil than Ak-47 its bullets are faster than Ak47. But Ak-47 is more rugged, easy to use, its bullets are heavier and it has more penetration power and its easy to maintain while M16 is not easy to maintain, you have to use the kit that comes with it for its maintenance so I think overall they are on the same level 1 Like |

dopedealer: Okay one thing you have to understand is that there is a big difference between theoretical rate of fire and realistic rate of fire. The guy i quoted said the AK47 has a rate of fire of 60 rounds per minute. How i wish i could give him a dirty slap!! The AK47 theoretically can fire 600 rounds per minute and the Tavor can fire theoretically 700-900 per minute. The difference is not that significant. But crucially, like i said, these are theoretical figures and the real-life rate of fire depends on how fast the person firing can re-chamber their weapon because no assault rifle currently can chamber that many rounds. Realistically the highest rate of fire a human soldier will achieve should be around 200 rpm. 5 Likes |

Kathmandu: Abeg, nor mind that guy, he proves to be a wiseacre and meanwhile he knows nothing,i ve seen his comments severally.Even though I am not a gun buff, I know AK -47 still can't be the most sophisticated, reason being that it was first produced a long time ago and with the advancement made every now and then in researches in military stuff, I doubt if it will still be high up there. I even believe that the TAVOR range of assualt rifles mostly used by our D. S. S operatives re more balanced than the AK - 47. |

@ topic... this wasn't a gift. I'm sure the cost of this 'white elephant' could've been spent wisely to upgrade the military in other areas.... whether it be personal equipment... to boost morale... or always needed helicopters. Where in the country was there or is there a need for this equipment? .... who would maintain it?...and at what cost?... or is this all about giving the military something to brag about? On AK47..... I know very little about guns..... but it is common knowledge world wide.... that the AK 47 is the most common assault rifle world wide.... and there's one reason for that... a longggg track record of being efficient under any condition... in the desert.. in the snow... in the swamps.... regardless.... that's the little I know. |

adegeye38:guy the most effective rifles r still d ones made between 1960 and 1979. U can't just believe in a rifle if it has not been used in a war before. Its not about testing it. its about continuous usage for a long period of time in different climates. Dats how to trust a rifle....not because it is a newly built machinery. 2 Likes |

anonym0us: My brother in educating us, you have chosen to look past the faults of the M16. I will help you here. The M16 was designed and built to rival the AK47. This was done in the heat of the Vietnam war to help ground troops equate the firepower of the Viet Cong's who where totting soviet union issued AK47. The AK47 was such and still is a weapon that is very rugged, easily maintained, can fire and sustain fire in very harsh conditions. Unlike its rival the M16, the AK47 was not susceptible to jam and this made it a weapon of choice for both the Viet Cong's and the Americans. The issue of American soldiers picking up and converting to use captured weapons from the Viet Cong's has led to a lot debate (just goggle it) but the fact remains that the AK47 was a better assault weapon than the M16 and its progenitor the M14 in the 1970's and it still almost in the same form and design as at when it was first design and massed produced tells you that the efficiency of the weapon cannot be questioned. 1 Like |

MONITZ: Criteria for ranking assault rifles is a lot and aesthetics grabs the least .. Most people are just wowed by the cosmetic cladding of newer rifles and not their overall performance ..I have been a rifle enthusiast for many years and i havent still seen an Assault rifle ranking that the AK47 didn't top. We all love the Tavor for its looks but its actually just a close quarter combat carbine meant for door to door combat, in a real theatre they wont compare to an AK 47 in most yards http://www.thetoptens.com/best-assault-rifles/ 3 Likes 2 Shares |

bettercreature:My brother, none of the rifles you listed here is capable of releasing 2000 bullets per min. In fact i dont know of any rifle capable of such unless you are referring to GPMG which is not your normanl service rifle. You have to consider magazine capacity. How many bullets can your magazine hold? Certainly not 2000. The purpose is defeated the moment you have to change your magazine. AK47 is still the most durable rifle for all weather. Our special forces are already using AK-74 and Tavor SAR. 2 Likes |
