Government should also buy some sophisticated guns for our soldiers,i always feels like crying any time i see our soldiers carrying AK 47 in 2016

The type of guns the NA use is is a question of function. Specialised forces use the Bullpup assault rifle which is good for close quarter engagements. The NA also uses scoped sniper rifles for interdictions. The AK 47 used by regular forces is not to be sneezed at. It is far more reliable than the US MI-16. It hardly jams and is very reliable at 600 rounds per minute. No one would fancy standing up to those mothers!

What makes the difference is training communications tech and immediacy and adequacy of air support.

Smh, ignorance..the M136 and M141 are better rifles used by the US army among others. While the Ak47 is one of the best warfare rifles, the aforementioned are much better and lethal.

There is nothing wrong with AK47 my guy, its the condition in which you see the gun with them u should talk about (either rust or being recopled with a rope or copper wire gringringrin) AK47 is still one of the best riffles as far as am concerened.

cool M16(USA) The AR-15 was designed by Armalite to meet the US Army requirement for a new assault rifle, chambered for a new intermediate cartridge. It was adopted by the US Army as the M16 and became a standard issue infantry weapon. This weapon was designed in the late 1950s. At the time it was a very progressive design. The US Army demanded for a super light weapon. So the M16 has a number of lightweight materials in order to save weight. It uses aluminum in place of steel, fiberglass construction in place of wood. Also it has an ergonomic design. It incorporated many features, never seen before. At the time of its introduction it was called the "Space Rifle". The barrel is in one line with the buttstock. This feature significantly reduces the recoil. It operates smoothly during fully automatic fire and is very easy to control. Consequently it is much more accurate during automatic fire than many other assault rifles. Its superior accuracy gives it a decisive advantage. This superior weapon works great in battle, although it does have some faults. Newer models have a Picatinny-type rail and support various optics and detacheable accessories. It can be also fitted with underbarrel grenade launcher. Since its introduction this assault rifle was constantly improved. This influential weapon was built in hundreds of variants. Approximately 8 million of these assault rifles were manufactures. The M16 and its derivatives are used by more than 70 countries around the world. A lot of people like to compare the M16 vs AK-47. The M16 has 3 main advantages over AK-47, including range, accuracy and weight.

This is good development since the US is not ready to sell weapon to us. Thanks to the UK government !! cheesy

And why should they sell weapons to the army when they are killing Nigerian citizens? You want blood to also be on there hands?

Sorry but every country has it's ARMED FORCES and their primary objective is to PROTECT its territorial integrity(it's citizens). You can't protect yourself without weapons. This book haram war would have been crushed longest time if the "west" had supplied us with the weaponry we needed. Like I said, no money, otherwise it would have been time for us to look inwards.

Those guns are better than Ak47

M16 that used to be known for jamming while in the field? I remember watching a documentary where American soldiers who used it were frustrated with its use. I am sure the modern day M16 does not have the same problem as the earlier ones did but the AK 47 is still boss, that is unless you are not willing to look past the drab and unappealing design of the weapon.

Is there any assault rifle out there that is pound for pound better than the Ak47 in Pricing ,durability ,ruggedness ,accuracy and killing distance ...I don't think so
ak's have low range (300ft) compared to an m16 (1800ft). the ak only stands out because its less prone to jamming and ofcourse its power

It might not be the best in all aspects but for all round in African whether it is surly more flexible far better than any M-series in its class

Russians, China still use it till today

you obviously dnt knw anything bout guns, russia nd china use an upgraded nd mordernised ak,ak 47 has bn phased out ,production stopped a longtime ago.what you see in circulation are old stocks. Modern hardwares are aall around weather. Ak 47 is cheap and easily accessible so it looks like its more durable,so 3rd world countries see it as value for money

We are talking about assault Riffles that can release 2000 bullets per min not AK 47 with just 60 bullets

AK 47 is only good for Army robbbers not battlefield

please help us tell them o
we need sophisticated weapon/riffles not advance stick called Ak47.

The AK47 is a highly competent assault rifle in the hands of a well trained soldier.

With regards to your bolded, why are you spinning figures out of thin air? there is not a single assault rifle in the world that can churn out anything close to that many bullets in a minute. The only weapon i know of that can do something similar is a minigun which are usually mounted on helicopters.

First of all do you know how heavy a weapon that can chamber 2000 bullets would be?

I can't stop looking at this post and shaking my head. Assault rifle that fires 2000 rounds per minute? There is not even an assaullt rifle that can fire up to 500 rounds a minute.
