Lots of talk without substance.

Jonathan won half of the MB. Look at the results again. In fact, if not for the Northern sabos in PDP, there was no way Jonathan wouldn't have gotten 70% in the MB.

OBJ was the one who started with the de-northernization of the top military bloc, GEJ filled the civil service with Southerners. Who is talking about owing anybody anything? Did the SS/SE owe OBJ anything when we voted for him twice in 1999 and 2003? Why is it when it is time to vote for GEJ in 2011 and 2015, it sounds like you guys were doing us a favor.

Dismantling the Northern Hegemony does not mean the South would rule in perpetuity, it means Lagos, PH, and Enugu would be where national decisions are made, not in Kano, Kaduna, and Sokoto. We'd be able to give rule back to the North East in 2019, but neither of the Southern regions would have to go cap in hand to beg for VP, like both the SW and SE are doing ahead of 2019. It'd be our right.

It means that the North would not be bold enough to opine that they would continue to rule in perpetuity like they're insinuating now. And it means the North would not attempt to play games should something like what is happening to Buhari happen again. Why do you think they're emboldened, if not because they know they've cornered the West. It means we wouldn't have Fulani marauders killing Southerners and Belters without anybody getting arrested. It means they wouldn't dare ask to take Southern lands under the guise of grazing. We can't be the most educated and have the least educated run this country whether they're in power or not.

Or do you think GEJ was a fool when he let Tinubu amass political clout in the SW, even encroaching into the SS.

Tinubu is the SW. That is the SW for you. Once it was Awo, then Akintola, then MKO, now Tinubu. Even Fayose recognizes that. Tinubu took the entire region to the chopping blocks, and he has paid for it. Osinbajo is next on the hit list. A Tinubu that had 6 states firmly under his control in 2011, now has just 3. The party he helped form was hijacked from him and CPC that had just 1 state before the merger now has more than 12 states.

Look at that and tell me the SW didn't eff up. Now you talk about the structure being the problem. Tinubu has been very vocal about restructuring in the opposition since the NADECO days, why do you think he is not able to say a word now? Why is it the SS/SE talking about the restructuring and the SW has gone dumb? Even when our person was in the Presidency, we never kept quiet about restructuring. You talk about no Southern President tampering with the structure, did OBJ not attempt to in 2005, and did GEJ not attempt to in 2014. Both times what did Tinubu the so-called voice of restructuring do?

Just look at this thread and see if divide-and-rule isn't in full strength. You'd look at all this and say the SW didn't owe the South anything. How old are you?

-Lord

You will shine with these points in a primary school civic class, not any higher.

First off, don't turn history on its head. SW real party had no history of alliance with the northern party prior to CPC and ACN. If anything, it was SE/SS party that had been doing so - NPC and NCNC in the first republic and NPN and NPP in the second republic. In the third republic, only anambra was in SDP, the rest were in NRC where you had the conservative northern power brokers.

The time SW parties wanted alliance, AG reached out to NCNC to form UPGA in 1964 elections but after the alliance was defeated in that election, NCNC returned to NPC in which it had been in alliance since 1960 under which Zik was made the president. In the run-up to 1983 elections, UPN wanted to align with NPP to form the abortive Progressive Party Alliance. It failed.

You don't appear to differentiate between tribes or regions on one hand, and partisan politics on the other.

I said 'Tinubu of ACN/APC' owes no loyalty to 'Jonathan of PDP' in a partisan contest and you replied by asking what loyalty does SE/SS owe Obj. You are actually agreeing with my point. They owe Obj loyalty, not personally, but because he was the candidate of PDP which was and still is the dominant party in the two regions. If they had not wanted him, he wouldn't be the party candidate in the first instance. Once he won the primary, they are duty bound to ensure the party success. You even referred to some northerners that made GEJ lose in the region as saboteurs. It means you agreed they did something wrong and in real fact, they acted wrongly.

Contrast that to the same 1999, the dominant party in SW was AD and they cleared the polls. Obj's PDP lost woefully in SW despite his being the son of the soil but he was in a 'wrong' party so to say.

SE/SS and SW majority have never been in the same party from pre-independence to date. AG/NCNC, UPN/NPP & NPN, SDP/NRC and recently AD, ACN, APC/PDP except by some ephemeral alliance like in the first republic UPGA and AD/PDP in 2003. It therefore stand to reason that the dominant party in each region will have the majority vote though the other party will have some votes too.

Abiola of SDP got a number of votes in the SE but he still lost to Tofa of NRC in total votes in the same region because NRC was dominant there. That is party loyalty.

As for Tinubu, he was never ever in control of Ondo state, they moved from AD to PDP to Labour. In ekiti, they moved from AD to PDP and when fayose imbroglio happened in 2007, he teamed up with fayemi to get a court judgement reversal of the initial PDP victory. When fayose patched up again with PDP, he returned the state to PDP. I don't know who you attributed APC success in Edo state to. Is it Tinubu or oshiomole?

This is not to belittle Tinubu or ACN/APC, no doubt, ACN/APC is a big party in SW and during the last presidential election, majority of non-aligned SWner bought into its campaign promise to vote for APC but PDP still got substantial votes above constitutional threshold in almost all the SW state.

Until a single party becomes dominant in all the regions of the south, don't expect a pan-south support for a southern candidate just like Abiola of SDP didn't win in SE dominated by NRC and OBJ won in SE dominated by PDP but lost in his own region dominated by AD.
