MikeZA: So we(SA) are about to go on another shopping spree and the public still has fresh memories of the alleged corruption deals in the SDP. "How about we spread stories of the armed forces being in a bad state,to distract them"? Someone would say. A story to justify more funds for the SANDF without a public outcry? Who knows.

Yep these are my suspicions as well

Plus the DR calls for stabilization first

Which means that major aquistitions would only really begin in the latter half of this decade

Ie we have 5 or so years of increased military spending that won't have the cloud of the arms deal hanging over them which means that we can avoid the BS that those cvnts at Lawyers For Human Rights spew

BAE Systems to sell its SA armoured vehicle subsidiary to Denel

UK-based global defence group BAE Systems is to sell its South African armoured and mine-protected vehicle and related systems subsidiary BAE Systems Land Systems South Africa (LSSA) to South Africa’s State-owned defence group Denel. LSSA is located in Benoni, east of Johannesburg.

BAE Systems holds 75% of LSSA and Denel will also acquire the 25% of the company now owned by South African private sector (and black empowerment) company DGD Technologies (2001) to give the State-owned entity 100% of the Benoni-based business. The sale is dependent on the gaining of the necessary regulatory and other approvals.

LSSA is composed of three complementary divisions – OMC, which specialises in wheeled armoured, mine protected and patrol vehicles; Gear Ratio, which focuses on mechanical driveline components, gears and precision-machined parts; and Dynamics, which is responsible for turrets, remotely-operated weapons stations and fire control systems. It employs some 500 people.

BAE Systems has decided to dispose of LSSA because the global group sees wheeled armoured and mine protected vehicles as not being a core business. “This proposed sale will further shape our portfolio around our core capabilities in tracked, combat and amphibious vehicles and weapon systems, which represent markets where we possess strong franchise positions and discriminating capabilities,” affirmed BAE Systems Platforms and Services president Erwin Bieber. “We also recognise that the LSSA employees have made a significant contribution to BAE Systems over the last ten years and we believe that transitioning ownership to Denel will better position the LSSA business to achieve its full potential working with a strong South African company.”

“This proposed acquisition is in line with our company’s strategy to broaden our leading land system solutions through the addition of resources and assets, such as those of LSSA, which complement our capabilities in the design and integration of combat turrets, artillery and infantry systems and armoured vehicles,” stated Denel group CEO Riaz Saloojee. The intended deal between the two companies was announced on Monday.

Until you prove with clear photo showing South African Police markings on it, we say SA Police has NO mobile high power electronic jammers.

The photo you posted shows no Police logo or marks, or any police men using it.

Show us the full body photo of that your Cockroach vehicle !

It has no receiver roof dish, not transmitter head on its poles that look like bamboo trees.

No space inside it for computers electronic support systems and multi-band radios.

Many other things are missing from this Soweto 'Jammer' skeleton of a vechicle.

South African Police has NO and NO and NO Jammer until you prove it tongue shocked cheesy grin

Its good.

That pushes them up a couple of groupings for sales to the SANDF (locally owned and locally made gets first choice)

I guess the new RG series will be the replacements for the MRAP's and will be the new APC

I am not complaining... i get Hot thinking about Mechanized brigades comprised of Badger IFV's and RG-41 APC's and Rooikats

You are a fool for making such a myopic comment and I pray the virus visits SA the same way it got to Nigeria and strike your family members including the fool's that liked your post.

10 cases of a highly contagious disease in 3 weeks in a country of about 170 million people. Even your government will come begging to know how we contained it.

You are a fool Patrick for celebrating such nonsense. Your turn will come.

Other nations are already coming to us for help

Health ministers gathered in South Africa said they were stepping up monitoring at their borders and preparing hospital isolation wards to handle potential Ebola cases in any of Southern Africa's 15 countries.
http://online.wsj.com/articles/nigerian-health-minister-says-nurse-died-of-ebola-1407325187

And we are african and world leaders in research into ebola
http://www.nicd.ac.za/?page=alerts&id=5&rid=89

While we have the only true BSL-4 level lab on the African continent - the so-called Special Pathogens Unit of the National Institute for Communicable Diseases in Pretoria
http://www.nicd.ac.za/?page=special_pathogens_unit&id=25

And by the was BSL-4 is the highest and most advanced level of Biohazard that there is.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Biosafety_level#Biosafety_level_4

And no, you have not contained it

the incubation period for the virus is 2 to 21 days - and those whom are infected can still transfer the virus without showing symptoms
http://www.who.int/mediacentre/factsheets/fs103/en/

the 10 cases you are suffering are the first respondents to the ill man on the plane - medical staff who rushed to his aid
http://www.reuters.com/article/2014/08/12/us-health-ebola-nigeria-idUSKBN0GB0RT20140812

Thus, the number of infected is not limited to 10 and could, potentially, be every single humanbeing the man came into physical contact with - even the sweat of the infected can transfer the disease

You haven't quarantined it, this is only just the beginning.

Lagos is the prime setting for the kind of massive outbreak that the whole world has been worried about.

Yet again, I have found something we are superior at cool

lord knows i'm not going to get into a pissing contest with you or anyone over a virus. my gosh! how old are you?

all those 10 cases are strictly those who came in contact with the foolish liberian who purposely imported it. and those under surveillance as well. that is what responsible governments do. we have testing labs and isolation centers dummy. it's not about who has the biggest, it's about finding the infected and containing them on time. or is it your labs that will go hunting?

of the 10 people infected, 5 are recovering, 2 dead (including the liberian) so that means only 3 are still in critical condition. yet you still want to talk about a massive outbreak. do you think SA will be safe if such happens?(knowing fully well how easily it will get to SA from here). i hope you are not as intellectually incapacitated as this in real life.

i doubt you have a job dude, or else you won't waste so much time dick contesting over a sensitive issue like this.

like i said. i hope someone exports it to your country and hopefully doesn't collapse at the airport. then you'll understand how myopic and foolish your comment was.

please continue with your little game. i've made my point.
