Several but in this case it was created for the exersice. The navy can create a restricted area in where if we need to.
Professional navies do not conduct military exercise in public zones.

It would be a shame if after the hype, Armata comes out no better than the Leo 2A. I expect the Armata to be miles ahead of the 2A.

The T-72AV is good enough for the challenges Nigeria currently faces and would face in the next 5-10 years. The AV's come with more modern FCS and generally digitised/up-graded.

What I think is consequential is additional modern IFV's. Not MBTs.

The Germans have allready come up with the Leo 2 revolution which is supposed to be better than the A7

But dont hold your breath, the russians are only unveiling their prototype now - there is a good chance it can get sh1tcanned

The problem is that nigeria has spent moneh now and are then going to have to do it all again in under a decade

You know my stance on IFV's - if Nigeria is serious about military modernization they need to put in an order for 200+ platforms. And not for some russian monstrosity like the BTR series. A true blue next gen IFV is needed.

Some options are:

- Type 07
- Mowag Piranha IIIC
- Patria AMV
- GTX Boxer
- VBM Freccia
- VCBI

IMO wheeled IFV's at this stage are more important and relevant to Nigeria (and Africa in general) than tracked IFV's

Now, answer my question:

So, what are you saying? That MBT's float?

saengine:

Main battle tanks do not do sea operations.

Light infantry vehicles can. Light infantry vehicle =/= main battle tank..

You have been caught out. You fraud. Now you are panicking.

Thousands of main battle tanks have done major sea war operations in war history of amphibious battles.

Tanks do sea operations, and frigates are close to them in the sea, a tank can fire 4km range and sink a warship.

Below, I show you main battle tanks doing sea operations, that you Southies cannot imagine because your fvcking SANDF has never fought a sea battle since 1945 gringrin

Before you even waste your time typing. Let me remind you....T-72 tank has a maximum forging depth of 5m. Meaning it cannot traverse water deeper than 5m. What is a Navy frigate doing anywhere near water of 5m?

We all know you are going to type and type and type nonsense and try run away from your original point.

Let also remind you, before you type your nonsense that you posted the pic below...stating that this is how T-72 tanks do a water crossing. You said they DO NOT submerge.

You were asked the question....are you then saying the tank in the pic below is floating? Or is it driving on the base of that trench? You ignored the question because you knew it had destroyed you.

You were also shown videos of T-72 and T-90 tanks clearly submerged. Something you said they did not do. You suddenly became an engineer, telling us how the crew would die and how "small leaks would" stop the engine. Forgetting that while submerged all vital parts are completely sealed, and the crew get oxygen through a snorkel pipe.

You are arguing for the sake of arguing. Simple.

Again. You have failed. You have done nothing but embarrass yourself. Im sure even Nigerians on here are embarrassed for you. How can you say those are "deep sea" operations? You can clearly see the f*cken sand the tank is driving on. If the tank gets wet, that doesnt mean its "deep sea". Are you mad?

Frigates do go to shallow waters, they have depth monitoring equipment. Why do you think frigates run aground in navies around the world?

The T-72 can be at 5m water level, and from that coastal landing position, it's main gun can fire on a Frigate 4 km far away out of normal human eyesight range. That is how a tank can fight a warship. The frigate does not need to be at the same shallow depth of 5 m water.

A frigate 4 km far away deep off shore is an easy target for a T-72 tank near the coast.

The medical council stats are wrong - they pertain to violent deaths per day which includes car accidents, suicide, general accidents.

Henry120, desperatly grasping at straws to make Nigeria look less sh1t than it is.

Your country is a poverty striken failed state

Ours is not.

(and we are richer)

the Medical Research Council's statistics reveal that 89 murders are committed, on average, every day in South Africa.

32, 485 people are murdered every year in South-Africa.

the "easiest way for the police to reduce the crime rate is simply to do nothing but record only those crimes where a case number is absolutely mandatory ." Numerous experts are quoted as suspecting "serious under reporting"; "perhaps these figures are concealed for political reasons '; "the reason for this under reporting could be the desire to change the ongoing reputation of South Africa as the crime capital of the world."

With 89 murders a day in South-Africa, you are no worse than an individual living in Syria.

You can deny all you want, the fact is 32,485 people are murdered every year in South-Africa.

Facts are facts, deal with it.

Sout-Africa is also the most un-equal country in the world with 7% of the population controlling 80% of the land and Economy.

You have destroyed your own argument

1. A tank cannot float
2. A tank cannot stay submerged for long

So then, how does your T72 sail out to sea to attack the valour class?

Tanks are not submarines, if the fully snorkel and submerge, it must be for very few minutes, they have no 100% water-proof leak-proof superstructure and no 100% crew survival air compartment, they stay too long they will faint. They can only run across a river.

Have you ever seen a tank fully submerged travel across a long water region like a submarine?

Next the war zone operation requires ability to defend and fight, most tanks will not fully submerge, they will have main gun barrel ready to fire and tank commander outside watching .

Below is a photo that proves all that I said.....and the two warships in the ocean close to the tank, he can fire on them and sink any frigate.

Now go cry to mummy at home because a Nigerian has rubbed mud in your face on Easter morning cheesy cheesy

After inflicting massive losses on the enemy?

I don't see you telling us about the performance of the troops during the battle.

By that time the battle was over Seleka was in power and SA troops had no business staying in CAR.

You inflicted no significant losses on the enemy, as the enemy was able to take over the capital only a few hours after brushing aside your incompetent troops.

This is a fact.

Fomac and french forces had to be drafted in to reverse the gains made by seleka in the capital.

Exactly, your own comment alludes to this fact.

Only tanks that are amphibious are light tanks like the PT76. There armour is so thin it can be penetrated by light cannons or HMG fire. To become amphibious you need to sacrifice weight witch means sacrificeing armour.
