I heard all the visas issued prior to the WC have been classified as "World Cup Visas' and were cancelled the day after the games ended.
Someone with a 6-month multiple entry visa who visited SA during the world cup tried to board a flight over the weekend and was bumped off, as his 'World Cup Visa' was cancelled, with no information to the visa holder.

That said, I heard a nasty 'wickid' rumour. More than 100,000 Nigerians entered SA prior to the games. There's no record of more than 60,000 leaving

PLS YOU GUYS SHLD STOP SPREADING LIES…STOP THIS…THIS IS NOT TRUE…THIS ARE D KIND OF NIGERIANS TO BE SILENCED…WHO TOLD U THIS DO YOU WORK AT D HOME AFFAIRS,HW DO U VE ACCESS TO CLASIFIED INFORMATION.

Nigerians protest in Johannesburg
NAN

August 18, 2010 03:33AM
  print  email

Nigerians in Johannesburg on Tuesday staged a 90-minute march across the city to protest the killing of one of them and to demand better treatment from the police.

Theophilus Anielefo, a real estate agent, was allegedly killed by South African police on July 31, in questionable circumstances.

A large number of Nigerians carrying placards and singing protest songs, marched through the streets, escorted by South African Police and traffic officers, as they aired their grievances.

The protesters marched from Rossetinville Road to Booysons Police station, a distance of about 12km, where they submitted a protest letter to the authorities.

The widow of the deceased, Cynthia Aneliefo, and her mother participated in the protest march.

Speaking at the Booysons Police Station, President of Nigerian Union in South Africa, Jason Osuafor, said the peaceful demonstration was to show disaffection with the killing of Mr. Aneliefo and other cases of maltreatment of Nigerians.

"We are your brothers and are law abiding, contributing our quota to the development of the economy," Mr. Osuafor said and urged the Police to put a stop to such extra judicial killings.

He said the murder of Aneliefo was unfortunate and charged the authorities to ensure that the perpetrators are brought to book.

Mr. Osuafor said the harmonious relations between both Nigeria and South Africa displayed at governmental levels should also be seen among the people.

He noted that there were many inter-marriages between citizens of both countries and stressed the need for brotherliness.

Shadrack Khoza, an colonel and military officer who received the protest letter, assured them that their grievances would be forwarded to the appropriate authorities for necessary action.

Nigeria's High Commissioner to South Africa, Buba Marwa, in a visit to the home of the deceased on Sunday, promised to take up the issue with the appropriate authority.

"We are not taking this issue lying low," Mr. Marwa said, and urged the widow to take heart.

Mr. Marwa described the killing of Aneliefo as a "grave injustice" and assured Nigerians living in Souh Africa of the mission's determination to ensure that their rights were protected.

He said the mission had sought audience with the South African National Police Commissioner,

Bheki Cele to make a formal protest over maltreatment of Nigerians.

At least we're vocal. That should force the government to do something.
But we need to clean up our image, and find a way to make the country condusive for development. All Nigerians need to team up to do that.

The black character types on the left, the ones with the black hat and suit, talking forcefully are traditionally despised in America and by osmosis throughout the world.  The black coon character on the right, however is traditionally more acceptable to the "WEST"; he is simple and seemingly harmless and can be tolerated. The white man can trust him, he has the persona of a person who will not steal, and indeed, he has not the wherewithal to contemplate such a thing. He may be able to steal, he probably does, but the thinking is that he wont, he is safe. Even if he steals and is caught, he can be dealt with and henceforth you can be sure he learned the error of his way.  He wont run away with the white mans daughter, he is not even a creature of idle fantasy for the white women folk. He wont play the music loud or argue if pushed to the back, in fact he knows his place.

Well, Nigerians are like the characters on the left, the mouthy swaggering, potential thieves, troublemakers, bank manager, businessman, go getting normal human beings.  However, being black, being like that, you’re uppity and don’t know your place. Consequently, there is a pressure and an international need  for you  to change from a normal human being to one full of affected subnormal ways and be more like the character on the right.

South African whites of the types full of racism but forced by circumstance to comply with normal law would rather serve the coon type than the normal, know his rights, black type

Na wah oh! this topic is still on?!@

I guess as Nigerians we are about getting to that boiling point and from all the post here, some people are beginning to see why we need to get our acts together first, No country has the right to trample on our sovereignty, but until we get it right, clean up our bad public image( even if it means killing a few of our leaders) then we can start talking about earning our respect, For now its simply an apology

Big ups to you OBA, good talk.

So it is now our govt want to take this matter up, i mean lets just face it, the horror accident that happened a few weeks ago is all over the news and has the Nigerian Govt even bothered to try and come out publicly to give us their findings at to the cause of this accident, yet alone consider doing something worthy to help these families to get their lives up and running,

Its so easy to cuff out 150 million for a jet but they cant produce even a kobo to help the victims of the deceased, Now tell me if this is good for public image even within our own country oh! How much will it cost them to identify the families involved (that is of course if we even have a solid forensics dept) and compensate them no matter how small, not that this money will bring the dead to life, but just to show that they care,

Now tell me dou you think the Nigerian Govt in context of what i just said really cares? Let be honest here oh.

Nigeria has a full fledged community everywhere.
That's spectacular ; even the gypsies (romanians) couldn't manage that.
That is why i refer to it as an infestation on a regular basis.

Nigeria as a country has been mishandled since the British (foreigners oo! !) left.
All the politicians (both past and present) are fully accountable for every single ill that befalls any Nigerian abroad and if we dont tackle these politicians, nigerians everywhere will continue to be sub-human including in those oil companies in nigeria.

I refuse to believe that there were "mushroom " flea-infested nigerian communities in every country in the '60's, '70's and '80's because then,
the politicians we had weren't this terrible and useless.
I guess good governance wore off nigeria in the '80's.

You are morally impaired to make these statements because you did not have the balls to brandish your Nigerian ancestry when you were in RSA.  It's like  JFK denying his  Irish Catholic ancestry before the Unionist Party. Go and read about how Edward Kennedy played a huge role in  ending the conflict in N/Ireland between Catholics and Protestants. He was in Belfast one summer and was questioned by a stranger why he wasn’t doing enough to end the conflict. He was an American from a wealthy background and could have denied his ancestry, he vowed from that very day to work for peace in N/Ireland. Mind you that it was better to be a Nigerian in that circumstance than to be an Irish.

It might be OK for most Nigerians in RSA to be labeled as drug dealers according to your statements, but you get upset when a security guard follows around in a shopping mall because of your skin colour. Do you get upset when someone implies that you got your job or college admission through Equal Opportunity? Do you get upset when someone implies that you are on life support from welfare?

Signs like the above  used to be common.

The Irish thought that they were being discriminated against because of fear of them as a distinct and conflicting group , immigration and religion.

But, oh no, they were really being discriminated against because of their filthy habits. Habits such as Wife Swapping,Incest, Debauchery, alcoholism, laziness,  looking like Apes and so on.

When the the Irish people discovered this truth, they changed their ways. They gave up on incest, stopped debouching, drank less, and slept with the Germans in order to infuse their gene pool with superior Aryan  once.  Now the Irish are acceptable and no longer discriminated against. The only once still being discriminated against are the bad eggs who still practice cannibalism, incest, debauchery, theft and so on.

Nigerians wake up from your slumber, we have become totally insignificant because of the thieves we call leaders. 70% of the nations revenue goes to keeping your sacred cows in high places fat and you sit back and enjoy their clowning in corridors of power arguing about their useless policies in beer parlours, social network forums, hospitals and commercial buses where you sweat like animals. Talk of suffering and smiling! No country will respect you if you have no respect for yourselves. All this "we have Africa at the center of our foreign policy" is just what it is, B.U.L.LS.H.I.T. We have sacrificed precious Nigerian lives in peace keeping efforts and accommodated other African nations in their struggles. We may be blessed with natural and people resources but we have an irritating ability to withstand nonsense. I have met a South African who made the mistake of talking bad about this country and all his dictionary laden grammar did not save him. South Africans have a hate problem alright (see their history from the days of Shaka the Zulu) so it is easy to see that their "beautiful" country is just a white country with blacks in majority. If the Dutch and Indians were not in South Africa, they would have been like every other black nation. Still, that is no excuse for our continuous collapse as a nation and tolerance of tyranny. The more we sit in inaction, these other Africans who have NOTHING will continue to insult, humiliate and scorn us. So enough with apathy, Nigerians set your house in order before your nationality becomes a snare for your life.

Sadly, the above quote seem to justify the racist crap below:

http://www.amren.com/ar/2009/02/index.html:

Africans, I believe, may generally lack the concepts of subjunctivity and counterfactuality. Subjunctivity is conveyed in such statements as, “What would you have done if I hadn’t showed up?” This is contrary to fact because I did show up, and it is now impossible for me not to have shown up. We are asking someone to imagine what he would have done if something that didn’t happen (and now couldn’t happen) had happened. This requires self-consciousness, and I have already described blacks’ possible deficiency in this respect. It is obvious that animals, for example, cannot think counterfactually, because of their complete lack of self-awareness.

When someone I know tried to persuade his African workers to contribute to a health insurance policy, they asked “What’s it for?” “Well, if you have an accident, it would pay for the hospital.” Their response was immediate: “But boss, we didn’t have an accident!”  “Yes, but what if you did?” Reply? “We didn’t have an accident!” End of story.
grin grin grin grin

I agree with oba234, south africans are well within their right to discriminate against nigerians if they feel that their own survival is  under threat, first of all black south africans have managed to liberate themselves (partially) from a white racist system which kept them in bondage in their own land, they therefore have the right to dictate who should be let in to their country, if this nigerian doctor feels he's being treated badly he can try nigeria for employment and leave south africa for the south african people after all they have acheived what nigerians are too cowardly to acheive - they have liberated themselves from white apartheid.  Nigerians are yet to liberate themselves from the black on black apartheid which is currently masquerading as a legitimate government.

One day there would be a terrible backlash by Nigerians all over the world. When you push a man to the wall and he has no where to turn he would pounce on you to preserve his life. Typical human instinct. Aren't we wary of stereotypes already? The Arabs have it far worse. One look at an Arab man and we think he is a terrorist. Besides who wants to live in that AIDS infested country where they eat Zebra meat?

Nigerians brought this upon themselves here. I am presently a resident of Pretoria in RSA and there is nothing like that here. Nigerians living i this country have a bad reputation.
