Eyah I feel for him tho resigning wil be honorable but fighting to save name(money and Properties) may damage his future opportunities.

I wish him the best

Goodluck!!

Which future opportunities? He has reached the zenith of his professional career. I love the fact he wants to deal with this accusations on its merit. If he resigns, the intention of his opponents would have been achieved. Let him go through the process and either clear his name or be bloodied. There is nothing more to loose anyway.

Plus he may, on going down, take a few others with him. Is it not curious that those who wanted to skin him alive are proposing soft landing for him? He should go down fighting, that's what a real man does.

He who is down, need fear no fall.

The FG had ordered the disinformation against Onnoghen on the pages of the internet and social media, so as to convince YOU to convict Onnoghen in YOUR minds.

They claimed Onnoghen had sent his lawyers including Wole Olanipekun to meet Abba Kyari to seek a landing spot for him but Wole has denied that, claiming he has never met Kyari. https://punchng.com/onnoghen-i-wasnt-part-of-abba-kyari-meeting-olanipekun/

The foundation of the government's case is based on defective evidence because it acts on claims illegally gotten and there is also the possibility of a blowback, so they are trying to harass him into a plea bargain, which he has obviously rejected for a trial.

They want the CJN to plead guilty without him having his day in court. Ask yourself; Why? Then maybe, just maybe, you will begin to recognize the footsteps of their criminal conspiracy.

He's been offered a deal.
By the time he's brought to court in handcuffs like former IG Musiliu Smith, his career will be over.
Dem go seize him money still jail am.
Even if he's buying time to see if Atiku wins, its neither here nor there. Nobody's sure.
Even if Atiku wins, he will take over by june 12....its still far.

ONNOGHEN's legal casino

I cannot be retired quietly like a pauper with my 1bn Naira seized. I will rather face these blackmailers and beat them at a game I've been playing almost 50 years.

However if I lose, there's always a chance I may get a presidential pardon after APC lose the coming election.

As against what many people think, the Presidency respect the position of this man as a once Chief Justice of Nigeria and it's in the interest of the federal government to uphold the rule of law.

The deal being made is to have Onnoghen retire honorably and not shamefully. Hope he's smart not to fight this because he'd lose and retire shamefully.

Very big lie...they respect nothing.

If they did...if they had respect for the man or his office, all this won't have happened.

This same man was investigated thoroughly before his appointment about a year+ ago. You mean they found notin of this nature then?? They sure did but kept it, to use it when they felt like. What they did not expect was this level of blow back.

Let's assume they did not find out then and found out now...if this government really had respect for him and for his office buhari could have called him, showed him what they found out and ask him to resign quietly but they wanted to remove him forand whatever reason and decided to do it in a way that would make gullible people think that they are fighting CORRUPTION...which we all know is a sham.

Only blind APC supporters and 90% muslims applaud this action...they should keep deceiving themselves.

You're making me have a good laugh.

Who will be reinstated? Onnoghen? If that happens, I will deactivate my moniker.

You seem not to understand the magnitude of this offense even to an ordinary appointee it's a big crime not to mention a whole CJN of a country.

Ignorance is not an excuse in law.
Excuse me. Did Onnoghen say he was ignorant? He said he forgot. Two different things. The CCB and T Act does not criminalise forgetfulness.

And all the people saying he will go to jail are ignorant of the punishment the tribunal can mete. By suspending the CJ the worse has been done. He should fight till the end.

Its all political witch hunting. If he's guilty let him fall. All the soppy talk about the gravitas of his office to make him bend on a matter in which core legal principles are at stake is just plain childish manipulative talk. what's the big deal about a CJN being charged to court? is he not a human being? why do you think the symbol of justice is blindfolded?it is blindfolded because justice recognizes no category.
I thought you guys said that Buhari is fighting corruption? Why offer a deal to the CJN again. Ohhh so APC knows about amnesty to criminals. Useless bunch of hypocrites

he had already made a declaration of 'forgetfulness' and 'mistake' as an excuse for non inclusion of those assets.

I wonder what he is going to defend again at the tribunal. as there's no ignorance in the court of law
Did the CJN say he was ignorant? In ordinary parlance does ignorance and forgetfulness mean the same thing?

Onnoghen should resign and stop wasting his time. I can bet he’s holding on just to see if PDP will win the presidential election. Atiku must have assured him that he will drop the charges and restore him back to office if he’s elected. Sadly for him, Atiku won’t be elected president and he cannot clear himself. Before the CCT trial is concluded, EFCC will file another case of money laundering and abuse of office against him at the federal high court. The cases will drag for so long till he reach the age of retirement when he will be compulsorily retired.
Since you cannot deal with the hard fact that the CJN has decided to fight on grounds of principle you have taken refuge in the realm of supposition and you are now substituting your own postulations for the actions of the CJN. You don't know the man. You keep running your mouth talking gibberish.

Deal with it :he will not resign to sell his soul over a smelly pot of porridge offered by the lunatic Buhari.

Firstly, this have no political undertone.

Secondly, I don't belong to the category of those saying Onnoghen will go to jail.

Thirdly, even he confessed to his personal mistake of forgetting to declare his assests, that doesn't grant him immunity.

In law, ignorance is not an excuse.

Long stories. ...
If the CJN is not guilty as charged why would he in the first instance go to the court to put an injunction ?
Is it not this same court that his lawyers will be at to defend their client?
What's the tactics about not letting the acting CJN to handle the case on an alleged corruption case by the EFCC?
The CJN is only playing further into the hands of the executive's game.
Let's assume he even wins the case, there's no way the NJC will retain him afterwards.

You have no idea what you're saying. Just like many of you here on Nairaland, you're just being sentimental for nothing.

The former CJN was appointed into office in 2017, March precisely, he declared his assets first in 2015 and renewal of assets declaration is every 4 years but in between, you can update it. Hence, there's no provision for anybody to claim ignorance or say he forgot.

You guys had better stop supporting corruption. This man knows fully what he did.

The position of the President is clear on this and we salute his courage. He's every inch right about his judgment.
