Congrats @Kween on your successful entry. I would appreciate if you can send me a copy of how you wrote your letter informing them of your intention to birth in America. Thanks a lot. Would sincerely appreciate. God bless.

Kween2014:
Hello everyone, reporting live from Atlanta enroute Houston to the glory of God. This thread has been more than a blessing so I thought it wise to share my experience.

Background: I renewed my B1/B2 visa via drop box when I was already pregnant and later sent an email to the consular about my intentions, I got the standard response. I travelled yesterday at 33 weeeks, 6 days with Delta airline.

MMA Lagos: No one asked me for anything at the lagos airport, I was a bit pained sha as I had my fit to fly with me which i paid 10k for at the hospital angry...anyway, better safe than sorry.

My Flight experience: it was fantastic....when I got to the gate, I used preggy face to ask if I could be upgraded to economy comfort with extra legroom (usually costs about 25k more), the lady nicely told me to be patient and she would do all she can. After boarding was over, I was upgraded grin...lesson: never be too shy to ask, u deserve a priority treatment wink

At Atlanta poe: God took control, I was directed to the queue of a black young lady who at first looked mean but I just kept praying for favour.
Immigration officer: Good morning, what are you in the US for?
Me: To have my baby and a little vacation
IO: oh really, ur first?
Me: yes pls...
IO: where do u work?
Me: I work at.....
IO: Congratulations, do you have a doctor here?
Me: Yes, I do...in houston
IO: Have you made payments?
Me: Yes I have
IO: do you have your receipts? Can I see them?
Me: Yes I do (as I brought out my burden of proof envelope to remove the receipt, she just grabbed all the docs from me and scrutinised them one by one...docs include; my letter of appointment from doctor, receipts of payment from doc and hospital, email to the embassy and response, email correspondence with hospital and doctor, return ticket)
IO: who will help you with the baby after you give birth?
Me: My mum, she got in a few days ago.
IO:Where will u be staying?
Me: At my brother's house, he lives here.
IO: what does he do?
Me: he works with .......
IO: How much do u have on you?
Me: $3, 500
IO: do you have your credit card on you ntoo?
Me: yes pls
IO: in case of any complications, hope you can afford it?
Me: yes I can
IO: Where is your husband and what does he do?
Me: He is back in Nigeria and he works as a ......
....And so after the long epistle, i was stamped in B2 till April next year.
IO: Congratulations on ur baby.

All these took about 10 mins but no sec inspection and my luggage was not searched. To God be the glory.

Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedure? by shelly23: 4:32pm On Oct 09, 2014
@angel 55, please be very sure that your body can even accommodate a vbac.

I was advised by my doctor to do another CS and not vbac because he didn't think my body was ready for a vbac since I had the cs less than 3 yrs ago.

What you don't want is a situation where you'll need an emergency CS and then be forced to pay even more than you're trying to save now.

I'll suggest that you see a doctor asap and confirm if you should do a vbac before proceeding with it.

And above all, please be extremely prayerful, you are now at a very delicate stage of your pregnancy and it's not helping that you're still planning to move around quite a bit. The journey from texas to arizona is rather long.

Please take good care of yourself, God bless.

To

Today at 5:55 PM

Thank you for your email inquiry.

Unfortunately, we are unable to provide you with all the costs associated with a vaginal delivery as you requested, we can only provide you with the hospital/facility charges. All physicians and specialists bill separately from the facility, and the hospital does not have access to their billing. We are unable to give you an estimate for their charges.

Please find attached our Hospital Pre-Paid OB Package for the Hospital/Facility Portion of an OB Visit. This package does not cover complications. If you have insurance coverage for your visit, the pre-paid package does NOT apply; the pre-paid package is for non-insured patients only.

I can give you an idea of the charges for one of the physicians, namely the Pediatric Consulting Specialist; these alone run approximately USD $6,700.00 to $8,000.00.

The facility is usually the last step in this process, as patients usually begin with choosing their Obstetrician, and then they come to us for delivery. You may search the Internet for Obstetricians in Naples (ask if they are affiliated with the NCH Healthcare System).

Please contact our OB Department (239)552-7724 if you wish to pre-register. You may also log back into our NCH website, search ‘Birth Place’ or ‘Maternity Services’ under the North Naples Hospital Campus.

The attachment is all we have to send you. I hope this answers all your questions.

Kind Regards,

Josanne

Yes thanks a lot I didn't really think about it this way. I just realised last month that once a CS the nxt will be called VBAC. I thought vaginal delivery anytime at all is vaginal delivery I will have to contact mihs this morning.
Ma'am get solid confirmation before travelling to phoenix. I would have advise you settle for CS in el paso or another alternative, what if you get to MIHS and meet a similar cost profile? Will a doctor also agree to take you this late?

Hello house please am stuck confused and don't know what to do? Am 36weeks gone and I need a hospital in houston area that will let me try a VBAC @ a rate not more than 6500 for everything both hospital,doctor and pediatrician. Other wise will I get it done at phoneix @ an affordable rate. Time seems to be running out. Pls help

Angel. There is nothing to think about, just take the next flight to phoenix. We had a VBAC last week ( the lady had a CS last year), she is doing great with her baby. I paid for a CS just in case, but my doctor wants me to try VBAC, i am already 37weeks plus and waiting to go into labour. They are so careful and precise, wish i can give u d details right now on all the procedures there put in place for VBAC, simply amazing. I was elpaso bound as well but had to move cos of this. See ya in phoenix.
Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedure? by dinawe: 7:06pm On Oct 09, 2014
Forgot to say, the lady that had her VBAC last week arrived at 37 weeks from naija and had her baby normally at 39 weeks plus.

She will get a refund of $1,350 because she paid for a CS initially. ( Looking forward to my iwn refund, shopping things grin)

VBAC here is same price with normal delivery. Old price was 2,888 but the new price is 5,400 all inclusive.

Hello Angel55,
Please stop asking questions and take action fast dear sister. Do you realise that you can give birth at any moment now? Your baby can actually drop at 35/36 weeks. Very possible. The clock is ticking!!! Its very obvious from all the info on this thread that only MIHS can accomodate your budget.
Pls call Francesca TODAY, book your financial appt, get a ticket to arizona and leave immediately please dear, we don't want you to give birth here or on the plane sef. Why are you doing like this now?
Pls leave immediately. Personally. The next post I hope t see from you is your successful POE story. Do not "branch" houston pls, just move straight to where you want to deliver. All this last minuite plans are not even good for your health sef. Too much stress.
If you post anyth again na cane we go take pursue you ma. Pls RUN to arizona NOW.
Whether vbac or cs, arizona is still your best bet. Please mama, you are running out of time. Getting a vbac doctor in houston is not easy and unfortunately you don't have time anymore to search.
Pls pls pls, get moving dear.
All the best and have a safe & successful vbac delivery

Pls is the new MIHS price of $5400 inclusive of everything? Or will I need to pay anything after that? Am a bit confused.
Also, am due in March, anyone heading to MIHS at this time too? Will leave in dec or Jan. We could team up and plan cos I am thinking of renting accomodation as I don't have any family/friend there. Thanks!

Hello,
If you are using dr huynh at whmc, if you send her ordinary medical report, she will respond saying the info is not enough (because the medical report is like a summary). Just print that email and show your gynae at your next Antenatal appointment. Ofcourse he will say they can't give you your file etc, just say thank you sir. Then take the same email to records dept, ask for their supervisor, talk to them sweetly and politely that you don't want your file, you just need scanned copies of everyth in your file since you got pregnant. Then send them a mail saying so. The manager will work on your email request. You can follow up with phone calls.
Talk to them nicely. Smile and be pleasant. They will give you what you want without you spending a dime

Blogerina please can you give me the email contact. This st Nicholas pple just gave me a medical report and are not budging towards releasing any other info.

Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedure? by foreverblessed: 9:03am On Oct 10, 2014
@MrsDan, AMEN to being blessed forever smiley. I saw your pm alert, really don't know how to go about accessing it. In any case, the
quote from Northside is $3,550, provided you pay before delivery- I have attached the quotation they sent me.

This is just for the hospital and for normal delivery, because that's the info I requested. The price excludes any professional fees e.g OBGYN, Anesthesiologist, Pathologist, Radiologist, etc.). They are quite responsive via email, so you can contact them on price.estimates@northside.com or call on 404-851-8694

As far as Doctor, I contacted OBGYN of Atlanta and they sent be the below. But I had to send them my medical records and they stated the quote was based strictly on my week of registering with them (32weeks):

$ 934 Antepartum visits ( one post partum )
$ 58 PAP smear
$ 200 Chlamydia & Gonorrhea test
$ 125 OB profile labs
$ 62 HIV Lab
$ 60 Hepatitis C culture
$ 5 venipuncture
$ 258 Ultrasound – anatomy scan
$ 60 Group B Strep ( 36 weeks )
$ 5 venipuncture ( 36 weeks )
$ 16 Hemoglobin ( 36 weeks )

$ 1821.00 TOTAL

I am due in Dec, but traveling by next week @ 32 weeks (as strongly advised by my Doc). You can contact their Practice Manager, Kris on KRichey@awhg.org for specific enquiries on your case.

Hope all this helps. Let me know if you need any other info.

Foreverblessed...many thanks!

Sweetg, long time. How are you and LO?

To your question; drop box does not require you include any document. All they will ask for is your international passport, Passport photograph and DS 160 confirmation. They will likely not accept any supporting documents.

I understand why you are kinda concerned wink. You shouldn't be. You will be just fine.

Thank You Phema. You know these people now they can be funny. I will give you guys feed back when i apply. Have a lovely day.
