Nigerian Christians Open Hostility Against Islam by Nobody: 5:56pm On Jul 04, 2011 |
There's been a rabid animosity & open aggression against Islam by some Nigerian Christians; even so, on this forum. This is hostility is further aggravated by the irresponsible utterance of the clergies e.g . Cardinal for Christsake, we have christian institutions e.g universities all over the state in a so called secular state. Is that okay. Pure hypocrisy, I submit. Tell all those involve in this reckless venture to allow Muslims pursue their legitimate yearning for peaceful commercial venture. Lest your reckless 'crusadic' utterances leads us all to a Nigerian apocalypses, if the country must be segregated, at least let pursue a peaceful end. Christians! Stop fanning the flame of hatred. 2 Likes |

I think the poster is the one who is openly hostile to christians and trying to incite religious tension. Comparing christian institutions which are optional for anyone to attend, to CBN funding of islamic banking, is very mischievious and totally uncalled for. There are muslim universities in ogun state and elsewhere which are operating without problems, but the poster wont reference those because it would disrupt his antisocial agenda. However, anyone who doesnt get the issues under discussion, should continue to not get it. |
Re: Nigerian Christians Open Hostility Against Islam by ektbear: 6:35pm On Jul 04, 2011 |
If Christian university goes bankrupt, nobody is going to bail it out. If Islamic bank goes bankrupt, then FG will bail it out. From some of the excellent posts made here by Katsumoto earlier, these banks aren't very successful even in countries like Pakistan or Iran. So why on earth are we copying failed models from elsewhere? Is the King of Dubai (a relatively successful Muslim country) implementing Sharia banks as his go-to banking system? No, he is going with the more successful Western banks. Let's keep things secular, neutral, and avoid sticking in religion unnecessarily. |
Re: Nigerian Christians Open Hostility Against Islam by Nobody: 7:07pm On Jul 04, 2011 |
If all the hostility/aggression Nigerian Christains recieve from Muslims is media criticisms of christain attitudes they don't like then Nigeria would have been a very safe country. Unfortunately what we often get from Muslims is not just media criticism but physical attacks and sometimes cold blooded murder. So poster before you post do some historical research. You are just one click away from that. |

ekt_bear: You are even going too far. A bank that loans money without interest will definitely be funded by someone. Are they going to pluck money from the air. Na FG go fund am. This is in a country where we have all sorts of challenges yet to be sorted out. Somebody wants to lend money without interest. This is the kind of economics Sanusi is proposing. |

Re: Nigerian Christians Open Hostility Against Islam by Pukkah: 7:46pm On Jul 04, 2011 |
mikeansy: Islamic Banks or Non-Interest Banks make money from the share of profit they get from the ventures or projects they fund. |
Re: Nigerian Christians Open Hostility Against Islam by Pukkah: 7:48pm On Jul 04, 2011 |
tpia@: CBN's function is to regulate the banks and not to fund them. The Banks will raise their own capital from IPO, private placement, etc. |
Re: Nigerian Christians Open Hostility Against Islam by Pukkah: 7:53pm On Jul 04, 2011 |
ekt_bear: In that same thread, I noted that the CBN has no business bailing out an ailing or failing Islamic Bank with public funds. This condition should be made known to all the bank's depositors that they are taking an additional risk. It is in the interest of fairness that government should not promote one religion over the other(s). How does this injure anybody other than the customers? Why not moving on and allow the Islamic Banks to either flounder or flourish instead of making the introduction sound like it's the end of the world? The viability or otherwise of the banks is up to those ready to put their money in it. The level of bickering between Christian and Muslims in Nigeria is really becoming exasperating. Are you the only religious groups in the country? |
Re: Nigerian Christians Open Hostility Against Islam by ektbear: 8:08pm On Jul 04, 2011 |
Pukkah: If there are no government bailouts for this Muslim bank, nobody is forced to deposit there, and state governments are not forced to deposit funds there, then I have no real issue with the bank. Btw FWIW, I'm Christian, but not very religious. |
Re: Nigerian Christians Open Hostility Against Islam by hercules07: 8:15pm On Jul 04, 2011 |
ekt_bear My grudge with Sanusi is that he bailed those banks out, let those who are strong survive, those not should fall by the way side. |

Dear Mikeansy & co, Do you know usury (bank interest & co) are against the tenet of muslim belief? Do you know many of them do not use banks for this reason? Do you know some of these people are taxpayer, and their money are equally used to bail out the 'usurious bank'? What are sacrilege, I can hear them scream! You are demanding they throw away their core belief to appease you? What a crusaders' arrogance & show of intolerance, muslims cannot do business just becos some christians think it is Islamic (despite the fact that it's in the Nigerian constitution & does not impact them negatively) BTW, FG bail out of private enterprises is a fraud & it's unconstitutional Nigerians say no to that 419 practice. Choose a war you can win. Religious war is not what you imagine it is. It's hell Quit provoking Muslims; Let sleeping dogs lie 2 Likes 1 Share |

^^^^^ Which is why the easier thing would have to have a country for the righteous once up North. And then another country down South for us infidels. But so long as we have all made the choice for one Nigeria, then we will learn to lead lives inconsistent with our religious beliefs. This is not rocket science, it is pure common sense. We can't have it both ways. I think I say the same things so many times to Southerners, especially South-Easterners on this forum. ONE Nigeria no be for mouth, it comes with a price. |

udezue: please shut u mouth be reasonable for once mumu mikeansy: I think u have a view about us that is wrong we do not look at southerners as infedels or whatever islamic banking would also be adopted in the south like lagos , osun, edo, oyo, ogun where there are precentages of muslims in them if you as a Christian feel like not using the bank then don't use it i do not see anything wrong in this at all, i mean it is a free world |
Re: Nigerian Christians Open Hostility Against Islam by MaiSuya(m): 9:35pm On Jul 04, 2011 |
FG funding the bank? that as I understand--which is little, admittedly--negates the hole essence of Islamic banking. |
Re: Nigerian Christians Open Hostility Against Islam by sirjec(m): 10:41pm On Jul 04, 2011 |
Answer why it should be called Islamic banking since it has the same provisions with Christian practices. We the Christians don't have anything to discuss with the Islamist. All we are saying that he should not take us for a ride. The said provisions of the said Islamic Bank are also similar to the real Christian practices so why should it bear ISLAMIC BANKING? Which Christian will enter such bank to do Business? We want to spend Nigerian's money on things that will be beneficial to one section of the populace. To be precise, we want to spend money gotten from Christians to establish what only the Muslims will benefit from? Is it fair? Some of us that call ourselves Christians don't know the tricks of Muslims and that they are constantly fighting to Islamize this country. It is unconstitutional as far as I am concern. Just that this Jihadist that calls himself Sanusi want to cause problem in this country. And I hope when the problem starts, he will defend it. I'm just telling my Christian brothers to beware of the coming of 666, the mark of the beast. The prophesy is coming to pass because in near future it will become a muslim thing for muslims. when the antichrist puts untold hardship on people, they will be asked to bow to allah to qualify for loan, I know how this works. |

Islamic banking, non-interest banking. Hmnn. Na wa o! I hope the money to be invested in that bank will not come financial and economic transactions because financial and economic dealings put profit/gain/interest as primary objective If I may ask, where will the source of money for the construction of the bank building, furnishing, administration (including salary of staff) and logistic for the day to day running of the bank come from? |

why should govt. bail out a private business enterprises by few individual for their own profit? Moreso, using public fund/ taxpayer's money to conduct such fraudulent misnomer? Why should there be Christian University but no Muslim bank Why should there be Christian extremists (Boko Harams equivalent) ''Islamic-bank Haram'' be showing so much intolerance, open hostility and religious animosity to these Moslems in such a matter that's fundamental to their faith (and is no against Christianity) BTW, failed private biz should never be bailed by govt, but if we ignorantly want to bail Pastor Akingbola's intercontinental bank, we should as well bail Mallam Mutallab's Jaiz bank too |
