Shattuck: The Buhari cabal that placed Hashim Shettima as Tinubu's deputy, knowing full well that Tinubu is aged and sick, also engineered Atiku Abubakar to go to buy PDP presidential ticket. The presidential election got heavily rigged such that APC and PDP each got higher numbers of votes than the Labour Party, all to ensure that a Muslim succeeds president Buhari. The Buhari cabal's engineering of Atiku to grab PDP ticket started right from the period Atiku played VIP role at the wedding ceremony of Buhari's kid around 2021. 2 Likes |

onuman: While it did tend towards the religious...that was mainly in the cities, and in the Lagos -Abuja echo chamber. Outside that, are myriads of voters who as I said, vote for what they see, not what they hear. You refuse to accept the fact that Nigeria is a country nearly equally divided between Muslims and Christians Until the census is fairly conducted and includes the religion question, we can never know. (and that's all I will say about the matter. . So with the possibility looming for Islam dominating the affairs of Nigeria in another 16 years after the 8 years of President Buhari, Well, some of you told us that Buhari would islamize Nigeria. After 8 years, how has that gone on? Also, not to defend tinubu, but he was not pro-sharia when people were chanting Sharia in 2001. Ya think he would do the same? Finally, any leader who imposes one religion on Nigeria risks crisis. It was tried in Sudan, and the Muslim Sudanesse are now regretting the decsion to do so. Any attempt to islamize Nigeria would leave the North in a disadvatage, and they know it. This is not 1804. Obi is where Buhari was in 2011. He can do like Buhari did over the next 3 years, form alliances, and then APC would get kicked out in 2027. Relax. It is possible (I never thought an Ijaw man would rule Nigeria as far back as 2007...and then it happened) why wouldn't Christians, and even moderate Muslims vote for the 1 Christians presidential candidate to avert any possibility for Islamists steering Nigeria to a worse calamity? From your previous comment, you implied that Muslims won't vote for Obi... and that obviously means...Moderates included. You cannot think for all Nigerians. Nigerians are weird. In 2002, I thought that many of my friends were just as angry as me with PDP misrule. In 2003, I found out they all voted for ....the same PDP. Better get out of your echo chamber. (Yes, I don't like APC, or PDP or even LP because Obi was part of PDP). 3 Likes |

LeyeWrites: It is not yet uhuru. Religion matters in politics not because some Muslim or christian leader is going to impose his religion on all of us...but because in things like federal civil service jobs, and contracts, among many other things, the religion, tribe , etc of whoever is at the top plays a vital role in you and me getting such things. Maybe when we become an industrial socieity, that kind of thing would diminish (though I did read of an American civil servant who reminded me of some lazy Nigerian civil servants...got job via political connections, he did, and sat down doing nothing). |

Racoon: Supremos read this article without emotions and check whether Obi stood a chance of winning the 25th febuary election. The highest Obi could have gone was to have the highest number of votes in the country but he wouldnt have had the compulsory 25percent in 2/3rd states of the country. Am seeing people bring up mutilated inec sheets in Rivers, Obi had his 25percent thr, though he scored less, even if we r to give him 2million votes in Rivers bringing his tally to 8.1m votes, tinubu still wins with 8.7m with votes. I keep saying this, PDP went into the race fragmented unlike in 2019. Obi wanted to be presented hoping on his South eastern, South south and Igbos votes in lagos state. All these states r just 12states... I never believed he will win Plateau and Nassarawa cos of the dominant APC in those 2states, but he won. Will we still say Inec rigged the election in those states for Peter Obi? But he won those sstates cos of the numbers of Christians thr.. There r sizeable numbers of cchristians in.Adamawa and the babachir lawal factor who supported him, he had more.than 100k votes.. Christians in bauchi headed by yakubu dogara supported Atiku, but he still had votes thr... He won 5lgas in Kaduna cos of Datti and also Christian community in southern kaduna.. Was Obi suppose to win in Zamfara, Kano or katsina that houses 90percent of Muslim? Now u enter southwest, outside lagos the other south western states will always toe a dangerous tribalistic path.. The same way Igbos sees Peter Obi in the East as the most competent person is the same way Yorubas in Ondo, Ekiti, Oyo, Osun and Ogun sees Asiwaju Tinubu... Tribalism, ethnicity played a major role in this election.. U dont expect a tribal bigot to like ur candidate above his tribal man. 4 Likes |

I think alot of great country in the world pass through poverty or war before the rose to greatness and Nigeria has neither experience one I think it's Nigeria turn to see poverty, international humiliation and after that everyone will think well and do the right thing. Just like Obi said if you want to be address as Excellency then the process of getting to office must be excellent. It's only poverty that will make this country great and we're done with phase one and now in phase two. |

No firm structure which is why APC PDP dominated the nass elections.. the guber polls ll confirm it cos APC PDP ll dominate the elections... Goodconcept78:but historically the Igbos have been voting for other candidates the voted for Obasanjo even when ojukwu was also running they voted Jonathan so where did you get this analysis from, regarding this election it is very insensitive for you to expect them to leave out the most accepted candidate and just vote in tinubu just to prove your so called definition of political maturity, you claim other regions voted for obi, that is because they believe in him , I'm from Edo state a bini man out here nobody I know voted for tinubu even though I strongly believe the numbers he got here were rigged, three saying obi ran on an ethnic and religious ticket is also false, the candidate that did that was tinubu we all know the shettima ticket was mainly to appease to the northerner Muslim community and nothing more, if peter obi wanted to play on ethnic sentiment of the north he would have chosen an ethnic and religious fundamentalist from the north as his vp just to manipulate northern voters but he didn't he went for a refined northern politician who is liberal leaning and an industrialist, this is also the only candidate who despite coming from a region who has never been at the presidency ever, he never for once played or say anything across regional, ethnic or religious lines the only thing they have against him was because of his indentification with the church, the church and christian community willfully adopted him,. Can you blame him for that, was it not tinubu who went to Abeokuta to say it is the turn of the Yorubas, did you ever hear obi make a statement like that that it is the turn of the Igbos, they say he didn't build bridge how else should he build bridge he went to the north, south east and west to campaign, he was at the arewa house, the met the northern elders forum leaders, he campaigned everywhere, he talked about his plans for the north, he was at various town halls, he had northerners in his campaign teams even the party the labour party he was running on can be best described at the most pan Nigerian political party, if you don't like him it's okay but it is wrong to say he ran on a religious or ethnic ticket, when he wasn't the one who ran on a Muslim Muslim ticket just because he wanted to. Appeal to religious fundamentalist never did he ever say it is the turn of the Igbos, just as tinubu has said, I hate when a lie is just been repeated without facts. |

Obi and Buhari also share the same qualities of self-righteousness, pretense to austerity, populism, hyperbolized or fictive past “achievements,” and weaponization of mass anger against the Establishment that they are, in reality, a part of. There is one more thing they share: the delusion, buoyed up by the delusionary tyranny of echo-chamber self-affirmation, that they can win a national election through appeals to a narrow religious constituency and that any outcome that defies their quixotic expectation is the consequence of rigging. So apt... So right... So true...! 2 Likes |

"I was personally indifferent to, and invested no emotions in, the outcome of last Saturday’s election because it was as predictable as tomorrow’s date. The PDP that faced off APC in 2019 was fractured into four feuding, mutually annihilating factions to fight APC in 2023, which has remained more or less unchanged. What could go wrong with that? Atiku Abubakar’s PDP, Peter Obi’s Labour Party, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso’s NNPP, and the G 5 governors were all in a united PDP in 2019. In 2023, they not only splintered, they sabotaged each other with more ferocity than they confronted APC. Only the wildest stretch of Pollyannaish fantasy would expect a more or less united APC to be defeated by a fragmented opposition." This is the obvious reality. Even if the election is conducted again APC will still win. It took the alliance of many parties in 2015 to defeat the rulling PDP. As long as the oppositions are divided, none of them will be able to get 25% requirement in 25 states. 5 Likes |
