@spyder880. Please whats the difference between a well and a borehole? I thought they both depend on underground water.
http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Water_well

The major differences between the two includes

1. Water borehole is usually of greater depth and smaller diameter than water well
2.Water wells gets its recharge from infiltrating precipitation while water boreholes gets it recharge from underground aquifer.

Also the difficult in geting from water in Enugu is mainly due to the clay / shale / coal underlying the ground surface.

My two cents

Spyder880 keep up the good works

Oga Spyder880, I dey hail o. Looking at the pictures of nearby construction (#161 and #166) where the finish grade slopes down, I just want to ask what  waterproofing material is commonly used. Considering the block wall will be more porous than poured concrete wall and there is a habitable space behind the wall. Is cement parging or the black tar waterproofing before backfill common?

Retaining wall will be mounted in between the blocks. The second line of blocks will be used as mold for the retaining wall. Also note that we are are adding a line of concrete beam to the walls we think might be in danger of soil pressure. This beam will go round almost the entire lower half of the house.
