Everytime, everytim, evrytym, evrytym, evertym, they want to use us like a roll o, roll on, roll, eeee!!! On to the Next one!

Jonathan and NLC should be wise at this point in time and negotiate better still end the Strike for Security reasons else all those bla bla bla is going to be ''Once upon a time''.

Lets not just protest subsidy removal but protect our Nigeria (by Nigeria i mean parent and kids) from the disaster and anarchy.

When focus moves onto the senators, to the point they are now targets of raw anger, they will impeach GEJ. At least they can live to eat another day under Sambo than drown with a ship that will surely sink if GEJ continues to think he can subdue the majority in a throwback to days when 'strongmen' got away with bullying Nigerians. Self-preservation will make the Senators act. Impossible to deploy all the Policemen in Nigeria to Abuja. If anger swells enough, then no one can really protect these guys better than themselves via giving Nigerians what they are demanding.

You son of Anarchy, when will you ever Learn. Note "He who lives by the Sword dies by the Sword"

Yes you are absolutly correct sir, right now we need to develop the agricultural sector WITH the revenues from the FG.

In the SURE program i did not see agriculture in there (I hope I am correct)

Thus I can say the FG has no plan in agriculture for Nigeria.

Also I would like us to state other mineral mining.

I advised you in a previous thread before that your folks should return to Pea-Nut Pyramids, Grow tomatoes and Onions in large scale, develop the cattle rearing business and start developing an aggressive programme for your own mineral mines but you are lazying around chewing gworo and waiting to suck the Delta Crude Oil "Dry" or FG to help you with Revenue from the wealth of same people you guys are deriding and killing every day so you can develop agriculture and arm your blokos Haram. Wa kpe mbe!

I'm so surprised after all the unity on the streets, people can still be here arguing about what tribe owns what who owns who and making GEJ's tomfoolery an ethnic problem! Grow up you people who happen to have access to the internet and don't delude yourselves. You are Nigerian, you are black and on judgement day there you will be listed down as so. Not a middle aged white man from Timbucktu. Then again when I think about it, with access to internet you might just be a bunch of bored guys!
Anywhoo sticking to the point, I keep hearing people say trust Jonathan trust trust trust but when we look at the bigger picture, he has been at the helm a year and a half now and no one can point to significant changes except really good light during elections rather there have been more tilting towards the negative light. With all the electronic transfers, I doubt the monies from the federal coffers last year where carried away in cash. The government knows ALL the beneficiaries of all sums. If they want to gain trust should they not transparently release a paper revealing who these beneficiaries are? Am sure none of you here have borrowed a friends car, crashed it, bought your own, spoilt it then come to tell your parents to still buy you a car! It JUST DOESN'T MAKE BRAIN!
Finally I don't support violence of any kind and wouldn't partake in it but I understand that military men and strategists like Churchill would regard some of these actions as a bully tactic to create fear in the minds of Senators and those they feel are oppressive.
Let's all take a big look and stand up for a better country or sit in like Rosa Parks did!

This is no longer about subsidy or Jonathan, what we need right now is a national day of restitution, from all those that have plundered this country, robbed our families and stolen the future of our youths: Beginning from Ibrahim Babangiga of Niger State, Igbinedion of Edo State, Peter Odili of Rivers state, Obasanjo of Ogun, the Abachas etc, these rallies and protests should be their houses

Wait, why is it only two sections of the country that are attacking their corrupt political class? Oh, only those two sections produced corrupt people or am I missing something here?

The sooner everyone comes together the better and faster we can renegotiate a new Nigeria. This should be a fight between the Corrupt Elite and the poor, but I guess their usual divide and conquer tactics is working again as usual.

Re: Heading Towards Arab Spring?: Senators Attacked! by IrunmoleD1: 6:52am On Jan 12, 2012
This is a signal to the ruling class. If they allow a mere protest to degenerate into a revolution, they will be the first target. I hope GEJ and his people are wise enough to know when to stop. Nobody is saying fuel subsidy removal is totally a bad idea but demonstrate it to us that 90% of 1.3 trillion will not be used by government official to buy private properties in Dubai, China or even India.

@dayokanu & kingoflag - while people in those two sections of the country can protest and demonstrate with minimum reprisals , I can assure you that if the south easterners try the same there will be a bloody crackdown like never seen. check enugu state that has recorded the first arrest of a labour leader since this strike began. You ppl don't know how repressed the se has been.
Re: Heading Towards Arab Spring?: Senators Attacked! by Nobody: 7:19am On Jan 12, 2012
Let see how its goes, if Nigerians are divided as in d pro subsidy and those against it. Dat makes govt superior and d other agreed party should dialogue with them. Wat are we going to gain from destroying things and suffering ourselves by protest and going on strike. Who Suffer it, the same masses. And i begin to think, nlc leaders are really waiting for Ghana must go from government

well put! It is gain for the people if the ruling class gets the message now.
Enough of robbing the country blind while many groan in poverty for their corruption.
Before they impeach . . .can they, the NASS members, slash their ridiculous alawee . . . and the impeachment sef is dicey . . . it's a delicate game, whose outcome might be mind blowing . . . . .

Meanwhile, the story could just be twisted to the normal " PDP is behind the attack" so i won't be surprised if i hear that being muted somewhere . . .
i totally agree with you. he that come to Equity must come with clean hand. Let the Senator show by example and reduce thier Budget of 1.2tr. the we know they are on the side of Nigeria
Re: Heading Towards Arab Spring?: Senators Attacked! by studyineu: 8:17am On Jan 12, 2012
See as you guys are fighting here. We the south east started these struggle in 1966 by declaring a sovereign state of Biafra but these same naija deltans was against us now they have seen what Ikemba saw. In Nigeria we have only the Igbos, Hausa and Yourba. If Nigeria is to divide today which I know will happen someday if not now, the Yoruba will join the Hausa In Nigeria don't mind their so called oduduwa republic. But every other ethnic group will have to join the Igbos or they join the Hausa's. That's thw bitter truth but am sure that they apart frm de yourobas will find it hard to join the Hausa's unless they want to be a slave to them. The struggle of 1966 taught us a bitter lesson which cannever repeat itself again cause now knows who is for us and those against us. Anyday Biafra comes up again, Nigeria is gone period. We are not in a haste to declare biafra again but we will soonest till then God Bless Nigeria, God Bless United States Of Biafra(USB).

Rubbish! Let me tell you something. If it was in the past I'd make the excuse for Igbos that "Well, you can't blame them, because after the Civil War they became suspicious of everyone on account of how they feel they were treated". But, come on, this time should be a "all-for-one-,one-for-all-fight". Push the corrupt class away for ever. This is a chance; take it. Don't blow it!!!

Let me ask you; whats the "bloody crack down" that you're scared of? That somebody might lose their life? So, the people losing their lives in Lagos, Kano, Abuja and Benin have two heads, abi? If we go all over Naira-Land you'll see how our Igbo brothers are always telling us how everyone else is a coward except them. Now, its the time to put your money where your mouth it you're scared of bloody crack-down. Have you ever heard of a tyrannical Government handing out flowers and chocolates to dissenting citizens?

Theres no point creating even more divide when we could use this opportunity to unite the Nation against the criminals who have continuously sought to divide and conquer us by using religion and tribe. Open your eyes. The time is now. Lets not let this chance slip.

Very good that is to tell those suffering from Down syndrome in Nairaland who say Yorubas are tribalists that when there is civil disobedience Yorubas do not spare any of their own believed to be among their oppressors. Maybe those Senators attacked were not Yorubas, may be
Re: Heading Towards Arab Spring?: Senators Attacked! by Reference(m): 9:29am On Jan 12, 2012
I think the SE is not very active because this strike like I said from the outset is different. It is fluid and expansive. Issues flow from economic to governance. This uncertainty is a big factor. If it is a fuel price issue alone the SE as a block will be late to the party. They have the highest standards of living, the bulk of incomes are privately generated and exclusive meaning inflationary effects are easily passed on. Also the mentality is different. Past experiences have taught the region to be independent from government and its actions. When the scarcity started during the Abacha time fuel prices were the highest in the SE for extended periods. Over 150 a litre for months at a time.

I predicted what is happening now and I wish to thank the President and his economic team for what is happening. The worst thing that can happen to Nigerians is to have goverment in agreement with itself and with the populace. This is what corruption needs to thrive. What we have today is a split between the Executive and Legislature even within the same party. Split between labour and government even within the same industry and I hope split between government and the private sector. The pallying was becoming too much.

If Nigerians and government can remain steadfast and focused the country will emerge better. We can better our macro economics, privatise, reduce beauracracy, corruption and government costs, reform campaign finance, law enforcement, the judiciary and the society in general.

This is our finest hour. Let's not go sectional or religious. Keep the focus, bear the losses. Government must remain strong. Reform, don't relent.

Let uus shout louder for the slash of the allowances of the senate and house of assembly.let us all go after them thieves, not poor ole GEJ. The poor man has no constitutional right to touch the salary of NASs members. Are they untouchable?
Re: Heading Towards Arab Spring?: Senators Attacked! by studyineu: 10:11am On Jan 12, 2012
Life talk. Is this nass members that we should be after and not GEJ. Cause had GEJ has the rights he would have slashed their salary. Is we Nigerians that have the right to slash their greedy allowances with our protest and beating them up. The Nass made the law of the President not been able to cut their salary and they will fight to defeat it. Let's all fight against them. They can't stop us and they can't kill all of us. Those that will die on this proccess shall be martyrs for a new nation and will be remembered. To the different NASS houses and offices we match, catch them and lynch them so that they can feel they pains we have felt for so long. Brodas let's match towards them and stop fighting against ourselfs, let's match and get hold of these people that has made the country broke. Let's show them that we own this country and not them. Nigeria is broke but this Nass members are not broke cause they are the ones that broke this nation. Let's destroy them over a million times so that they won't be able to live and steal our money again.
Let's go out there and fight them all until the cut their pay by 80%. Let's be willing to fight against the UN, US, BRiTAIN with these spirit we would win.

Because we are wiser now.

Since the struggle has changed to attacking people, you guys should make sure you kill thieves from your region next time you attack them. Enough of all that 'tinubu-escaped-death-by-whiskers' bulldung. We want to see you kill them. However, you should limit the killings to your own region.

We know our own thieves but we wont touch them until you have KILLED all your thieves first afterall they have been the ones sodomizing nigeria for a long time now. Our own people are new in the business so lets kill the older thieves first!

Re: Heading Towards Arab Spring?: Senators Attacked! by Reference(m): 11:46am On Jan 12, 2012
Why is the SE not participating - the political angle. The role of social justice in the fight for good governance and anti-corruption.

If we feel the SE should play a big part of the resistance, have they had an opportunity to be a part of the solution. Have they been in power. Look at the Niger-Delta today there is a greater awareness of the dynamics of governance on the socio-economic terrain. Now the people there look at things more dispassionately. They are more critical of their leaders and focus more on the issues of critical importance. This cannot be discounted.
Re: Heading Towards Arab Spring?: Senators Attacked! by nku5: 11:58am On Jan 12, 2012
@ kingoflag - First of all its not a matter of anyone being suspicious of the rest of naija it is a matter of ppl who still live in a militarised environment.

The Enugu case is still hot on everybody's radar, abi u never hear. The state's NLC boss has been arrested and charged, the other executives are underground and on the run. It is not about people not seizing the moment but about systematic and brutal repression.

You get mouth to boast because police dey escort protesters for lagos and abuja abi. In the east they would have smelt ak47 for their trouble. You are quick to lecture but did you even hear about what happened at Upper Iweka, Onitsha on monday morning? A peaceful march was brutally put down by police from near the bridge head before it could gather steam. I know a family that lost a son that morning, of course it wasn't news na!.

Despite all the repression abia NLC members are fighting to protest even to the point of their turn coat leader being chased into hiding.

If you have been enjoying freedom in your region don't take it for granted. You are asking what "crackdown ppl are scared of"? Do you know how many heavily armed and fortified checkpoints there are per mile in the east? Those playing politics of divide and rule dey where dem dey and whether u and some NL igbos play e-war is inconsequential to anybody in the real world. Keep your ears to the ground and see what will happen, if possible go out there and play your role, its easy to judge others when you're not them
