Ujujoan:

So you are still talking about a non-existent subsidy?

Are you just daft or do you make an effort tobe clueless

Incase you are really just daft, the subsidy removal is NOT what is bringing about these revelations . .  the investigation is.

One would have thought that your President would have embarked on this 'investigation' before plunging millions of Nigerians into such dire hardship in the name of subsidy removal  . . .

And what brought about the investigation? Would there have been an investigation without the subsidy removal?
Madam, your argument is weak, tired and in need of subsidy. 2 + 2 = 4, Seen?
Re: Okonjo-iweala Testifies Before Subsidy Probe Committee - Live by PointB: 2:07pm On Jan 19, 2012
There in no way in this world that Nigeria would accept subsidy removal without protest. However, the organisers lost the plot when they started murmuring 'regime change.'

My opinion on this saga is that since NOI resumed in September 2011, she has been taking a lot of time trying to unravel the mesh that is subsidy fraud. The decision to stop the subsidy was the missing link in the mesh. Being able to come this far into unravelling this mess in less than four months is very commendable.

Now let the heads roll!

Beaf please only a failed human being would inflict hardship on millions just to help expose corruption when she could of easily stated that certain practises needed investigation.

please stop your shameless and pointless over the top support.

Beaf:

They led to nothing. They only ended up the smokescreen for what nateevs is pretending not to understand.

Where did I stand? I said those protesting where lazy phuckers who were unwilling to apply their minds or educate themselves about Nigerian realities. Does it seem like my stand is different today?

My arguments against the subsidy hinged around three things:
[li]It would deal a mortal blow to the corrupt oil industry and move us another step toward true federalism.[/li]
[li]That people aught to be taking a lot more interest in what their LG chairmen and governors roles are in a federal system.[/li]
[li]The money saved could be channelled into productive areas of the economy like research and development, agriculture, education etc.[/li]
[li]It would create a level playing field that would allow the influx of private refinery builders.[/li]
Our anti-subsidy arguments were far superior to those of the comical #Occupy brigade. In fact, all they had was sentiment; all tears, abuse and curses.
Indeed, all of us who withstood their torrents of insults and abuse stand vindicated today; every Nigerian is getting bombarded with tales of mind-fogging corruption, all in just a few short days. We should be prepared to be drunk with many more of such exposures even though the wagon has hardly left the courtyard.
Dude you don't have a point beside how does removing oil subsidy move us closer to true federalism?
If you remove oil subsidy and you dont remove the corrupt people do you in your mind think those people will not find a way around the system??

Removing the oil subsidy removes the corrupt people as we are now witnessing. It moves us closer to true federalism because one of the greatest attractions of centralised power in Abuja is gone, another pillar of patronage that is keeping this fake federalism running has been leveled.

When payment from subsidy jumped from 300 billion  to 1.3 trillion, any human being with an atom of brain would have asked what caused the increase but GEJ chose the cowardly route and it was the protest that brought about this investigation .

I am not saying it is right that so much should be going to salaries. But there are different levels of government, if we fight for local and state govts to be preeminent and productive, Abuja will lose its shine. There are 3 levels of govt and the LG and state should actually be of more importance to the individual, it is the failures in our system that make us forget that state and LG govts exist.
Lets have this in mind, so that after going at the FG, we know that we must next turn on govts local to us.

You 2 are the biggest  ideeiots on surface of the earth

The question I asked you 2 , efisher and Jmaine on the 5 of january or so

was HOW DID SUBSIDY JUMP FROM 650 BILLION DURING YARADUA TO 1.3 TRILLION WITHIN 3 MONTHS OF THE TRANSITION FROM YARADUA TO GEJ.

ALL OF U BROUGHT OUT ALL SORT OF CALCULATION TO JUSTIFY WHY IT IS 1.3 TRILLION

NOW THE SAME QUESTION HAS BEEN BROUGHT OUT AND THEY FOUND 600 BILLION AS AWOOF MONEY EVERY YEAR.

ANI'T YOU TWO THE BIGGEST IDEEIOTS ON EARTH.

the only reason u justify this rubbish is because of bigotry because you people have never ever made sense of the subsidy thing (apart from efisher and jmiane).

They brought out all sort of calculation thinking they were clever they have become du,mb. Bloody ingrates

I'm all for resource control and regional government.
In theory, i subsidy removal is a good thing but removing subsidy in Nigeria is papering over the cracks and not going after the root cause of the problem.
E.g Why did GEJ no pursue a legislation that states that  by 2015, all crude oil drilled in Nigeria must be refined in Nigeria, dont you think Nigerians would have supported subsidy removal??

Thank you!
After all the bad blood we come to some sort of understanding.

As for GEJ being ready to make Abuja weaker, it is on record that he told the governors that he was only ready to change the revenue allocation formula to the benefit of the LG's and at the expense of states and FG. He made arguments about LG autonomy, part of that is visible in the abrogation of joint accounts between states and LG's. A lot is going on, bruv.

If you think GEJ is not ready for that, then let the next protest be about true federalism.

@LadyT,
I don't agree her head should roll first. It is very basic. She resumed in September and her very first task was to prepare the budget. In the course of doing that she discovered several anomalies: entrenched and complex anomalies far too difficult to understand within the time frame for the budget. In between understanding the problems and stopping the leaks she was able to deal with some of the pension and salary sleaze in the police using biometrics system.

Now most of the anomalies discovered during budgets preparation all have their sources in a complex system called - subsidy. To understand the problem better, you have to unveil the subsidy! Tough as it was, that was what she did. All in the nick of time.

If you look beyond sentiment, you will understand she did the right thing.

Now let us deal with the mega fraud behind the subsidy and bid the practice good bye. Who knows maybe our refineries might start working again.

Really? She did the right thing?
Have you seen the Comptroller General's assistant's dragging OBJ into the whole furore?
The ministry of Finance, Petroluem? and how it goes on till date?

Which anomalies did NOI discover? The anomalies she per-took in under the OBJ administration or the the one she told the Nation she saw?
