Ojukwu’s Burial: S’east, S’south To Be Closed Down, As Uwazuruike Blasts by 9jaIhail(m): 8:18pm On Feb 01, 2012
The leader of the Movement for Actualization of Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB), Chief Ralph Uwazuruike said the South-east and South-south geopolitical zones will be closed down on March 3 for the burial of the late Biafran warlord, Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu. Uwazuruike said markets and all offices within the affected zones would be closed while there would be total compliance to sit-at-home order earlier declared by MASSOB.

He also said the burial which is divided into two phases would have Nigerian government playing the first role while MASSOB would hold sway on the burial days. The MASSOB leader further described as sacrilege the call to Ndigbo residing in the North to stay put in the face of ongoing bombings by members of the Boko Haram sect.

Uwazuruike’s outburst was prompted by last week’s statement by South-east governors and some selected Igbo leaders who in a communique, shortly after their meeting in Enugu, said Ndigbo in the North could stay put there because their security was guaranteed.
Addressing newsmen at his Biafra Freedom House, Okwe in Onuimo Council Area of Imo State during a courtesy call on him, Uwazuruike faulted the governors’ statement.

According to Uwazuruike, “it is sacrilegious for some people to ask their kith and kin to stay put in the troubled North while their children are overseas enjoying themselves and they are at the Government House themselves disbursing tax payers’ money at their disposal.”
He therefore urged Ndigbo who are in the North and even in the West to return home en masse and join hands in developing Biafraland because any investment they made in the North or West were not protected by international law.

According to him, international law could only protect an investment made in Nigeria by non-Nigerian or outside Nigeria by a Nigerian.
He said it was because international law could not protect an investment made inside Nigeria by a Nigerian that all the landed property put up by Ndigbo in Port Harcourt, Rivers State were declared abandoned property and seized from them immediately after the civil war, just like any property built by Ndigbo in the North or West could be destroyed or seized at any time if another civil war broke out.

On the fate of Ndigbo who do not have houses to stay in if they returned from the North, Uwazuruike declared: “Those who do not have house in Igboland should return and we will accommodate them in our war veterans’ houses here in Okwe because we built many mansions here for all the Biafran war veterans who have been begging at Oji River and they are all comfortable there now as I am talking to you.”
He also urged those stranded in the North who wanted to return home to indicate their interest so that he could use his position as the new Eze-Igbo to send vehicles to evacuate them home.

I believe the people of that zone will beg to differ, also, the governors of those states might be disinclined to declare a public holiday on that particular day, celebration of your leader should be done voluntarily rather than by coercion.

Being involved is different from shutting down regions, of course as many leaders of other regions that can be involved the better, shutting down is just my gripe.

you are just trying to stir up arguments that will eventually lead to tribal bashing , dont see the south east totally shutting down talkless of south south rather i see a situation where public holiday will be declared in those places its left for people to do whatever they want with it, you make very silly comments like igbos of south south dont look back to the war as if those in the southeas all look back to it . igbos of delta were probably more affected than any other group in south east.

TO rid Lagos of lunatics and beggars, the state government has sent over 3,105 beggars and lunatics to their countries and states of origin.

The Special Adviser to the governor on Youth and Social Development Dr. Dolapo Badru, who disclosed this at a ministerial briefing yesterday in Lagos, said 3,044 of the beggars arrested had been sent away in the last one year.

Giving a breakdown of the statistics, Badru revealed that Sokoto State had the highest number of beggars with 196 arrested on Lagos streets, followed by Oyo State with 83, Kano State 75, Osun State 67, Ekiti 21, while Ondo State had seven.

On the number of lunatics, he said available statistic showed that Niger Republic had the highest number of beggars and lunatics arrested by having 12, Chad Republic two and Cote d’Ivoire had one.

Badru explained that the state government had zero tolerance for destitution and begging in the state, adding that picking of unwanted persons from streets of Lagos would be a continuous exercise.

He stressed that his office would continue to work together with security agencies to rid the city of these unwanted persons, saying it was an offence to indulge the beggars who troop to the state on daily basis to beg for alms.

On the essence of the state’s rehabilitation centre at Owutu, Ikorodu, where beggars, the destitute, mentally challenged and drug addicts picked from the roads are taken to, he said the state government would continue to make provision for facilities to help rehabilitate such persons.

He said the mentally unstable picked on the roads across the state would be given adequate medical attention, while 38 able-bodied persons among those picked on the roads who were suspected to be criminals had been handed over to the state task force for prosecution.

On adoption and fostering, Badru disclosed that various applications were received from prospective adopters, locally and internationally who were screened in order to determine their suitability for adopting children while 177 letters of approval were granted.

He disclosed that 126 children were adopted by members of the public and 11 released for fostering, adding that 174 children had their adoptions legalised through the Juvenile Court while additional 161 babies were rescued and referred to various government homes and private orphanages.

Aworis Youth Mandate under the able leadership of  Adekunle bola has asked that all yoruba of non- aworis extraction leeching on their development and resources should start preparing to vacant the state.

he explained that yorubas come to lagos to feast on their resources, contributing absolutely nothing in return.

an Ekiti from his jungle village will come to Lagos to drag jobs for locals like security and vigilante, so it time to tell them all who are the real owners of Lagos.

once the permission is sanction there will be a exodus, so it is better they start packing before the time reaches. as the say " a stitch in time saves nine."

This is 21st century, NO TIME FOR PARASITISM !

even the abokis are contributing more than these yorubas, Awori people shall not stand and watch her resources pillaged and ravaged by these ingrates and rascals.

he went on to explain that most crimes in the state are perpetuated by neighboring states especially Ogun people and ijebus.

Addax Petroleum hits new discovery in Nigeria

Addax Petroleum Corporation reports a significant onshore oil discovery from the Njaba 2 well (formally Okaka) currently drilling in the eastern part of the OML124 license area in Nigeria. Addax Petroleum has a 100 per cent working interest under a Production Sharing Contract covering the OML124 license area, whereby the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation is the concessionaire. Addax Petroleum currently produces approximately six thousand barrels per day from the Ossu and Izombe fields in OML124, which is located within the stable and peaceful Imo State.

Jean Claude Gandur, President and Chief Executive Officer of Addax Petroleum said: “I am extremely proud to report an excellent start to 2009 with this successful exploration result in Nigeria as it is a leading discovery that has the potential to be one of our largest fields in Nigeria. The Njaba discovery is the first exploration well to be drilled in OML124 since the mid-80’s and these results will increase the production potential of the license area considerably, as well as significantly upgrade the remaining undrilled prospects. This onshore discovery is a further example of Addax Petroleum’s commitment to development in Nigeria. In addition, this recent success represents yet another highlight for our highly prolific Nigerian operations as it will strengthen our record of growth in Nigeria and it underpins our robust and consistent operational performance.”

The Njaba discovery was consistent with pre-drill estimates having encountered four oil bearing reservoirs totaling 289 feet of gross oil column, including the two main individual gross columns of 149 feet and 115 feet of between 20° and 28°API at depths from 990 to 1,050 metres. Production from the Njaba discovery can be readily tied in as the Corporation has existing production facilities and infrastructure in the OML124 license area. Addax Petroleum continues to drill into secondary, lower sections relative to the newly discovered oil bearing intervals and plans to carry out a test of the main reservoirs. The Corporation also plans to drill an additional appraisal well down-dip of the discovery which may further enhance the recoverable reserves from Njaba.

Unlike you, we are not oil chasers whose life and existence depend on oil

Abeokuta — The discovery of oil in two different locations in Ogun State is exciting the Governor, Gbenga Daniel. He said the state will soon join the league of oil producing states in Nigeria as crude oil has been discovered in large quantities in two local governments in the state.

They are Ogun Waterside and Ipokia Local Government Areas.

Nigeria: Oil, Gas Exploration Begins in Lagos Soon
The state Commissioner for Waterfront Infrastructure Develop-ment, Prince Adesegun Oniru, disclosed this breakthrough during a briefing to mark the third anniversary of Governor Babatunde Fashola (SAN). Speaking on the new discoveries, Oniru confirmed that a vast deposit of oil resources had been discovered off shore in Badagry area of the state, though the quantity of oil deposit in the state had not been quantified in barrels.

However, the commissioner said oil production and exploration in the state had been largely constrained by a large volume of gas lying on the oil resources and explained that the constraints had been properly and technically addressed. He added that Department of Petroleum Resources, a federal agency had granted Yinka Folawiyo Petroleum Company Limited OML 113 and British Gas Exploration and Production Limited OPL 223 to operate on the oil fields in the state.

Crude oil, which is the major source of income in Nigeria, is found in Ilaje Local Government Ondo State. There are oil wells and fields spread all over the Local Government Area both onshore and offshore, Oil Companies such as Shell, Chevron, Texaco Nigeria Ltd and Consolidated Oil, Express Petroleum and Gas Company, Atlas Oil Company, Allied Energy Oil Company, Cavendish Oil Company , Esso-Mobil were at a time already operating in the Local Government Area
