Whats with all these oil talk? The oil is a natural resource that lies dormant until you put human effort to turn it into a product and derive benefits from it.

In terms of human productivity (human resource), not natural resource, what does East generate to Nigeria? What do you oil noise makers contribute to Nigeria??

Let's hear it. . . . .

What have you contribute to Nigeria, undecided brother? Time to stop asking what others have done for Nigeria. Ask youself what you can do to improve Nigeria.

You are being quite unfair to our SS brothers who have not contributed anything tangible to Nigeria. They shamelessly call other Nigerians parasites when they themselves have absolutely nothing to do with the presence of  onshore oil in their region.

Given the billions of dollars (almost $1trillion) made available to their governors, they have been unable to develop fishing industry in the area - the lazy people should, minimally, be supplying all of Africa with deep sea fish by now. What a shame.

RGP, We already covered that in a different topic, you are late.  Go and check "what does Yoruba contribute to Nigeria".

This is a challenge to those lazy a ss es who think a dissolution of Nigeria will suffocate Oodua or Arewa.  It is time for them to come out and show what is generated in their homeland in terms of human productivity.

South-South have contributed Oil to Nigeria. The only thing Nigeria used to repay them is to destroy their livelihood. that to me is not fair.

SE oya defend yourselves since you shout more than the South-southerners themselves

Alhaji, we are not talking about natural resources put there by Allah which the SS people have nothing to do with. What have they contributed?

Their governors have received $1trillion or more to date, that is not a bad repayment if you ask me.  What portion of that money did they budget to reclaim their land which may have been destroyed by oil exploration? I do agree with you that, more should be done to clean up the damage.

What annoys me is that as soon as Shell and others payoff their elders, the companies are allowed to continue to exploit with impunity.

LOL yet they always blame the Northerners, SWers.

One of the richest Nigerians today are like of edwin clark and co who have used this money to fund weapons instead of development for the state.

I have studied their politics languages etc in the south-south and I can say one thing is certain ,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,., I would put you on the suspense grin grin grin

Now What does the South-east produce ?

The IGR of showed they were one of the lowest and they makes the most noise here.

Higest is the south-south because of Oil

followed by the South west because of Oil and agriculture minus lagos

followed by the noth west because of agriculture

followed by the North central

then south east before north east

yet they would say others are parasites lipsrsealed

Abuja - Following the expected loss of AU chairmanship to Boni Yayi of Benin Republic, President Goodluck Ebeble Jonathan’s administration today threatened to breakaway from Africa and form an independent continent of Nigeria.

In a terse press release signed by Mr. Reuben Abati, Nigeria stated:

"Since Africa does not consider our President, Dr Goodluck Ebele Jonathan good enough for the Chairmanship of the African Union, then Africa does not deserve our presence on the Continent."

Following the statement, Africa's most populous nation has given the AU an ultimatum of 1 week to regroup and crown GEJ the head of the prestigious union otherwise there shall be consequences.

The press release also advised the advisory body of AU not to bother trying to contact GEJ on the matter as it is non-negotiable. The document pointed out that the Nigerian president is currently too busy negotiating with more important personalities like Boko Haram who the AU should not force him to exile to their countries.

http://www.ghanaweb.com/GhanaHomePage/NewsArchive/artikel.php?ID=229187

Meanwhile, Gminers, cabals, and members of parliament are believed to have secretly convened to decide how Nigeria’s breaking away from Africa should be organized to ensure that the Igbos and other Southerners do not use the opportunity to slip away into the Atlantic with their oil and also form their own continent.

Fact!

In 1990 Nigeria overtook Liberia as the largest rubber producer in Africa. Production rose from 60, 000 tons in 1986 to 147, 000 tons in 1990. It dropped to 125,000 tons in 1995 and 107, 000 tons in 2000 but went up again in 2003 to 142,000 tons and remained at 142, 000 in 2004. Benefits from a replanting programme in the eastern States, Edo and Delta states have yet to materialize, and local demand from tyre and footwear industries continues to outstrip domestic supply. A programme to increase output of rubber and palm kernels, with financial assistance from the World Bank, is being implemented. Also various state governments are encouraging farmers to increase rubber production by providing interested farmers with subsidies (FMEN, 2001). Compared to the previous years’ production (1995 – 1997), cottonseed has continued to increase and some of the reasons for the increase were considerable public and private investment in the sector, as well as incentives for local textile companies and higher tariffs on imported cotton.

Quite cynical but in response consider palm kernels(palm oil),charcoal(huge deposits),automobiles(annaco, innoson),general services which finance the economy(they're about the most enterprising),little bit of tourism, sport e.t.c.They also control a great chunk of transport&haulage subsector. Its really not about what's beneath you but opportunities one create&they are very good at that(very self-sufficient also)

If Ʊ say rubber is one of the largest foreign exchange earner and Ʊ don't knw that rubber is produced majorly in the south east then is either Ʊ are dumb or ur just playing stupid below is an aticle that can educate Ʊ more so Ʊ knw where ur cash crops are grown

"Nigeria Table of Contents
Nigeria's climate permits the cultivation of a variety of crops in a pattern that emerged in earlier centuries in response to local conditions. As in other West Africa states, rainfall is heaviest in the south, where the forests and savannas benefit from abundant precipitation and relatively short dry seasons. The staples are root crops, including cassava, yams, taro (cocoyams), and sweet potatoes. Tree crops--cacao, oil palm, and rubber--constitute the area's main commercial produce. Cacao, from which cocoa is made, grows mostly in the southwest. Oil palms (whose kernels can be made into palm wine) predominate in the southeast and are numerous in the south-central area. Rubber stands are common in south-central and southeastern Nigeria."

Alj malu Ʊ can go on this site to Ơ̴̴͡.̮Ơ̴̴̴͡ that the ss\se contributes more to nigeria apart from oil and gas!
