SA Lady, thanks! I am glad you find my post useful too. wink

Ok.  Let me add to what I have above.

What kind of jobs do you two have?  It seems you don't get to see each other often since he runs a shift and your time contradicts?  You have to create the time and make the times you have together really count.  Give attention to yourselves.

What do you do when you are not together?  Send text messages to him.  Proclaim your love to him.  Flirt with him and seduce him with your messages.  Be creative.  You mentioned 10 women sending messages to him.  Outdo them with your own messages.  He is your husband.  Give him no room remaining in his inbox for other women!!

Text him about how much you miss him, what you are planning to do with him when you get home, how he will beg you for more etc.  Where has love gone!  My wife and kids travelled on holidays a while ago.  You should see the kind of smses I sent!  We were waiting to practically devour each other when we see.  There is power in anticipation!  Use it.  Set it up.  Prepare for him when he comes home.

What is he seeing in other women that he is not seeing in you?  Update yourself.  Set your strategy and win the war.  Do what it takes.  Go out of your way.  If you have to slim down do it.  If you have to change your schedule a bit, do it.  Plan weekend time-offs together.  It doesn't have to be whole day.  Just get out of the routine once in a while.

Having said all these, let's focus on your husband for a while too.  Is he happy with the job he has?  Is he getting what his skills deserve?  Is he making progress career-wise?  All these can affect a man and make him react by releasing his frustrations on you.  Not that it is right.  Talk with him about his aspirations.  He may need a change of job.  Let him see you care about his progress after all.

Never use his family background to 'fight' him.  Encourage him to get books for him that you know can build his confidence.  Or buy them as gifts.  His past shouldn't mortgage his future.  Let him improve himself.  Speak to his self-esteem.  Let him know you accept him as he is.

Does he know you are treating STD?  Let him know if he doesn't.  Let him know the possible consequences of his extramarital affair- HIV, AIDS etc.  He will see reasons when faced with grim consequences, hopefully.

What more can I say?
Family / Re: My Marriage Is Crashing Please Help by Analytical(m): 2:08pm On Mar 17, 2010
Sorry, this may not be organized. . .

Your present approach should get him to respond to you. Please when you get his attention, it’s time to start ironing things out. Use your subtle powers as a woman, not the confrontational approach. Try to help him overcome his insecurity. Make him realise you are not in competition with him. Your success is his success. Let him know and hear that. Gradually, he will come to appreciate the resourcefulness in you. Then you can truly work as a team.

If possible, I will advice you slow down a bit on your supermarket and anything that is driving a wedge of competition between you until things improve between you. Hopefully, that will be soon. He won’t be so nonchalant if he sees it’s for the family and not ‘your’ thing or ‘his’ thing. This may be hard.

I don’t know how you guys handle your finance. Do you make more than him? Don’t make it obvious, either in your words or actions.

Buy gifts for him. It doesn’t have to be expensive gifts. It could be a set of new boxers, underwears, socks, ties etc. Something to show him you care. Love is about giving. Don’t show signs of resentment. Don’t give him a reason to think your life revolves round your daughter.

Marriage requires work. And time! Plenty of it. Work at it. Create time for your prince. Don’t look down on him. Show him love and respect and mean it. Forgive him. No matter what he has done. Value him. Support him. Start afresh. The solution to problems in the home may not be divorce. That comes with its own problems. If there is a stain on your blouse, you wash it and remove the stain; you don’t tear the blouse apart.

Above all, since you met as Christians, pray for him. Pray for the home. Pray for peace and harmony. Let him know. There is no situation that cannot improve. There is power in prayer. And the sweetness in marriage is better enjoyed when there is peace and harmony in the home.

Waiting to hear good news. May the peace of the Lord be with you and your husband.

Cheers.

P.S. Let him treat himself of STD too. Protect yourself when meeting.

Hi Damysa,

I have been following the thread and the wonderful counsel many have given already. I am glad there are signs now that, at least, he is getting the message. However, I still think there is a lot you can do, since you are "giving it your best shot" and ready to do anything to restore the marriage.

While not excusing your hubby's misbehaviour, permit me to ask :

1. Do you really see yourself as a 'helpmeet' to your husband?
2. What are those qualities you saw in him that made you court and marry him?

If you knew his background before getting married, albeit late, then it is your duty as his wife to also 'help' him in those areas of his weakness and dysfunction that is making him so vulnerable. He IS your husband. And since he is not here, I would rather address you as the one to initate the desired peace in your home. Help his ego. You sound like a submissive wife. Help him to regain his footing.

Remember those qualities you saw in him that endeared him to you in the first place. You can work them and fan them to flame again. Your husband's upbringing may have a lot to do with his behaviour. When you focus on his strength rather than his flaws, you bring out the man in him. Bring back those sparks again.

Having a 1 year-old to take care of too can take a lot from you than you may want to admit. I know. Perhaps, subconciously you have been distant from him. This is not to excuse his extra-marital misadventure. Work on that area as well. Take care of your physical appearance. Seduce him. He is your husband afterall. Give those outside a run for their lusts! Go get your man. If someone took your property won't you go after the person? You know how you used to make him chase you in those days. Time to revisit those tricks again. Court him afresh.

Improve your communication with him. By now, you should understand he dosent want to be shouted upon. So when he gets in those moods, be the sheep. Take the fire out of the argument and it will die naturally. When things are calmer, then you can do your serious pillow talk. It works.

I will be back shortly. . .

Ohsisi, you don't seem to get it. I wasn't disappointed because he erred. That only shows he is human. But the manner of his 'confession' left much to be desired. You ought to know better.

Mavenbox, this is more like it:

@Everyone: Im really sorry about my mode of presentation, and I apologize sincerely: not for confessing but for my manner of doing it. I have deleted the detestable OP and now I can only beg and hope for your forgiveness. Honestly, I am usually meticulous with details that others tend to find bothersome, and i never intended to draw your attention, but to make things right. Please forgive me. Thanks.

I have nothing against you. I was only bothered about your confession without humility. I spoke in brotherly love. Anyway, all that is past now. Go and sin no more wink

Cheers.
Religion / Re: Mavenbox(m) Declares: I'm Actually Male, Not Female. by Analytical(m): 2:26pm On Feb 15, 2010
Mavenbox, I must say I am so disappointed!  Ordinarily, it wouldn't have mattered anything as you won't be the first to so change your gender.  But it becomes serious when a professing christian deliberately deceived others by not just telling a lie, but living in it for so long and then coming out with a confession that is void of any repentance (godly sorrow).

What this has done is to smear your character and integrity.  Just read the posts with a sober mind, from Abuzola's to Deep Sight's and others' to see what I am saying.  You may just have lost your testimony and a good ground to be a true witness.

If you are really sorry, you will take the posts and criticisms, learn your lessons and and be a better representative of Christ.  It doesn't really matter whether offline, online or anonymous- a christian should be a christian.

God bless.

Watching these two players play at the ongoing Nations Cup is enough to put this argument to rest finally. Song is way ahead of Mikel in all aspect of the game- ball control, distribution, linking with attack, positional play, ball shielding, breaking opposition attack, mobility etc. He is an asset to his team. I am not too sure we can all say that of Mikel.

KunleOshob:

Bishopl Oledepo and his bunch of irresponsible cohorts at faith academy must have settled the judge or used spiritual "authority" to intimidate him. I strongly believe the vagabonds should be brought to justice as a result of negligence which resulted in the death of a child left in their care. If it is to collect extort money now, they would be very diligent at doing that. Bunch of morons. angry Even the PTA that should be more concerned about the issue are keeping quite probably due to the factthat they don't want to be seen confronting a "man of God" . Afterall the slowpoke is always claiming God would strike anybody that goes against him dead. What a bunch of deluded Lunatics.

You know what kunleoshob?  I think your outburst is just uncalled for.  Why do you allow your hatred to becloud your sense of reasoning by spewing forth such profanities anytime the names of your avowed enemies or anything remotely connected to them is mentioned, whether or not they are culpable?  Check the usage of your words in your post!  It's amazing for someone that calls himself a christian on a narrow pathway.  Where is decorum and civility?

Before someone will say I am unsympathetic to the plight of this parent, I am very much in support of seeking a redress in the court of law, if needs be, in order to get justice where there is a breach.  Moreso, I am a parent myself and I feel his pain.  However, the issue here is against Faith Academy which is a corporate entity and not against the person of Oyedepo.  I am not too sure he runs Faith Academy.  So where did all these tirades against his person spring from on this issue.  Before I am also crucified, I am not a member of Winners Chapel.

Do you have to bribe a judge before a case is decided against you?  I have heard of glaring armed robbery cases decided in favour of the robber not because he didn't commit the offence but because the case against him was not properly prepared.  I am not a lawyer but I know a lot of cases are lost as a result of this.  Cases are also lost if they can't be proven beyond all reasonable doubts.

This case can be appealed and won if it can be proven that the school was negligent in its discharge of duty/handling of the sickness which unfortunately led to the death of the girl.  I am also of the opinion that the school being a christian school doesn't have to wait for a court case to identify with the bereaved family and show that it cares.

Springing to my lips immediately is this timeless hymn:

1. Onward, Christian soldiers, marching as to war,
with the cross of Jesus going on before.
Christ, the royal Master, leads against the foe;
forward into battle see his banners go!
Refrain:
Onward, Christian soldiers, marching as to war,
with the cross of Jesus going on before.

2. At the sign of triumph Satan's host doth flee;
on then, Christian soldiers, on to victory!
Hell's foundations quiver at the shout of praise;
brothers, lift your voices, loud your anthems raise.
(Refrain)

3. Like a mighty army moves the church of God;
brothers, we are treading where the saints have trod.
We are not divided, all one body we,
one in hope and doctrine, one in charity.
(Refrain)

4. Crowns and thrones may perish, kingdoms rise and wane,
but the church of Jesus constant will remain.
Gates of hell can never gainst that church prevail;
we have Christ's own promise, and that cannot fail.
(Refrain)

5. Onward then, ye people, join our happy throng,
blend with ours your voices in the triumph song.
Glory, laud, and honor unto Christ the King,
this through countless ages men and angels sing.
(Refrain)

So apt! Just imagine the words of this hymn! Thank you Lord.

Properties / Re: I Am Going Back To Being A Moderator So You Won't Call Me A Fraudster Anymore! by Analytical(m): 2:25pm On Nov 16, 2009
@madam L,

Quite on the contrary!  Lawyer has been an epitome of patience and tolerance on Nairaland all the while before the insults started coming in because of the Okun Mopo saga.

What I expected any newbie just coming in to do was to find out a little of who he was before hurling out insults on his person.  That wouldn't have been too difficult to do.  Mere check of his previous posts would have answered their queries.

He has been the one warning buyers to beware before they commit themselves to any property sale by investigating properly.  He championed the introduction of pictures to adverts in that bid to at least confirm the genuineness of such properties, even when other agents were not happy about it.  Moreso, he always told readers to do their investigation.  He provided information that people don't give out freely without charging a dime for it.  The kind of patience he has in attending to various questions repeatedly on NL is amazing.  This was before he was even made the moderator of the property section.  I am sure it was because of his positive influence that he was made a moderator.

I will say it's not civil for people to call someone a fraudster and scammer who they haven't met nor done any business with, nor even cared enough to check his antecedents on NL.  It's okay to warn readers, but very unneccesary to hurl insults, especially when it cannot be substantiated. While I understand your concerns, I think it's a bit too hasty for him to be so crucified.

Nothing personal. Just my opinion. Peace to all.

Even you?? Now that is going to be an interesting riddle for you to unravel, especially for someone without any belief whatsoever! But doesn't this show you that there are many things that science or philosophy may not be able to explain? That you can't explain it, however, doesn't mean it is not real! There is so much beyond the realm of science and philosophy!!
Properties / Re: I Am Going Back To Being A Moderator So You Won't Call Me A Fraudster Anymore! by Analytical(m): 2:29pm On Nov 13, 2009
@Lawyer,

Maybe I am also a bit disappointed that you are taking this decision. From the very first time I read your posts here on Nairaland, I knew you are different. You are a selfless person and that is easy to see in your postings. The truth is you find fulfilment in being who you are. Don't force yourself to be who you are not.

I am not too sure you remember me. I wanted some information about registering a company and all that a while ago and we exchanged some mails. I was amazed at the extent to which a person can go to satisfy someone he never knew without asking for a dime, just by meeting on the web, even though I don't reside in Lagos. I concluded within me that there is hope for this country with such selfless people still around.

I am not too sure you came to Nairaland in the first place because you want adulation from people. More like you want to be of service. Why then would you allow the opinions of a few to discourage you from doing what you want to do? A lot of people must have learnt one or two things from your sound and informative posts in Nairaland Properties, yours truly inclusive. That they are not coming out to say that should not deter you. You cannot please everybody. It's not possible.

Have a rethink and be yourself. Someone suggests you open a website and make money from the wealth of information you possess. Why not? But on top of that, don't forget to still be of service to people. If you consider the opposition you will end up not doing most things in life.

Cheers.

So Vortex, can you spell it out very simply who Jesus is, where he came from, where he is now, why he was born, backed with whatever source you want?  Remember, make it simple so a 5-year old can understand it.

Meanwhile, he was not a martyr.  He is the Saviour!  He came for that purpose.

Is this not the same Law Prince that opened the Fallacious Christian Mathematics thread?  You opened a thread, clawing some few verses you have no knowledge of and when you were properly schooled in what you didn't understand, you jumped ship and started another thread, claiming another 'contradiction' or 'fallacy'!  Now someone is responding to your queries and you are changing topic.

Must you open a thread?  If you are after knowledge, then read what is being explained to you.  Otherwise, stop playing hide-and-seek.  Only kids do that!
Religion / Re: The Fallacious Christian Mathematics by Analytical(m): 10:49am On Nov 12, 2009
Evade questions?  No, I don't.  I answered all your questions.  Go back and read very well.  If I don't know an answer I will simply say so.  I don't like arguments.  I only explained the questions you and others were asking.  It is left for you to accept them.

I have endeavoured to show you from John, Colossians, Philippians.  You refused to read them.  Let me indulge you again with these, maybe you will read:

John 14:
8 Philip said, “Lord, show us the Father and that will be enough for us.”

9 Jesus answered: “Don’t you know me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’?

10 Don’t you believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father is in me? The words I say to you are not just my own. Rather, it is the Father, living in me, who is doing his work.

11 Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me; or at least believe on the evidence of the miracles themselves.

John 20:
24 Now Thomas (called Didymus), one of the Twelve, was not with the disciples when Jesus came.

25 So the other disciples told him, “We have seen the Lord!” But he said to them, “Unless I see the nail marks in his hands and put my finger where the nails were, and put my hand into his side, I will not believe it.”

26 A week later his disciples were in the house again, and Thomas was with them. Though the doors were locked, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you!”

27 Then he said to Thomas, “Put your finger here; see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my side. Stop doubting and believe.”

28 Thomas said to him, “My Lord and my God!”

29 Then Jesus told him, “Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”

1 John 1:
1 That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked at and our hands have touched—this we proclaim concerning the Word of life.

2 The life appeared; we have seen it and testify to it, and we proclaim to you the eternal life, which was with the Father and has appeared to us.

1 John 2:
22 Who is the liar? It is the man who denies that Jesus is the Christ. Such a man is the antichrist—he denies the Father and the Son.

23 No one who denies the Son has the Father; whoever acknowledges the Son has the Father also.

Enjoy your wives.  Take care.

There is no need for all these insults.  Hear from the mouth of Jesus Himself:

John 15:
13 Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends.

I said earlier that the hallmark of love is sacrifice.  Show me someone who says he loves, he must be ready to die for the loved, if needs be!  Why should it sound so senseless to you all that God loved you and I so much that He gave His only begotten son  (the Word made flesh) to die for us?

Are you not being hypocritical?  Jack gave his life for Rose in Titanic and everyone clapped and applauded what a love in its highest form!  Same with Romeo and Juliet!!  Jesus gave his life for humanity and you cried foul!!

Deep Sight:

ccollins: i do not doubt that his teachings of love are the way to God.

I doubt that he is God.

Two different things.

Deep Sight, you are not alone!  So did the Jews.  They even wanted to (and eventually did) kill him.  Scroll up and see the account as posted.

Deep Sight:

Nezan/ Analytical/ Modupe -

No insult intended, but it seems to me that you guys are not being deep or exhaustive enough in your reading of Bible verses.

Jesus himself explained the term "I and my Father are one" severally. He stated unequivocally that he and his father were one in the same way as we should be one with him. Now are you Jesus? No. But you are one with him in spirit as a christian, yes?

Thus the oneness was a oneness of accord, and not an ontological or existential oneness as an entity.

This verse elucidates and proves the point:

John 17:20-23: “My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me. I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one: I in them and you in me. May they be brought to complete unity to let the world know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me.”

Its abundantly clear that its a spiritual and not ontological or existential oneness. There. That's Bible proof.

I want to be as simple as possible in explaining things. Unfortunately, it appears you do not understand what you read.  What you posted above is talking of unity and not existence!  Who was Jesus before he was born?  Did he exist before then or not?  If he did, then as what?

the_seeker:

listen to yourself. Do u think you made any sense at all. At that point when jesus (the man) was crying and bearing all your sins where was jesus (the god)? Was he in heaven with his father watching the drama his human body was acting?
Brother, you can do better than this. You dont have to debase your intelligence to such senslessness just because you want to believe

If you don't understand something, is it not gentlemanly to ask simply without resulting to insults?  The likes of you would still have cried foul if he didn't experience any pain at all by saying he is not a human being!

John 1:
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

Philippians 2:
5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:

6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:

7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:

8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

Colossians 1:
14 In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:

15 Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature:

16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:

17 And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.

18 And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.

19 For it pleased the Father that in him should all fulness dwell;

20 And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.

Colossians 2:
8 Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.

9 For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.

Abuzola:

Why are you slowpoke applying physic to God, the simple arithematic is God the father + God the son + holy spirit = trinity, if truely 3 then how come 3 equals to one, does it make sense,

Abuzola, since you refused to even read what is posted, I am not surprised you still go about the same cycle.  We have been trying to use nature, science, logic and even arithmetic to show that 3 entities coming together doesn't have to equate to 3!  Who told you the composition of God is based on simple arithmetic of addition?

Let me show you the more how nature itself speaks:

- You have been seeing the rainbow for ages.  That is a single entity is it not?  But how many colours make up the rainbow?  7!  But the rainbow is 1 and not 7!

- Taking you back to the realm of physics, you have been seeing common light since you were born.  Would you know that the composition of visible light is 7 and not 1?  Red+Orange+Yellow+Green+Blue+Indigo+Violet=Light!  Yet, light is 1?

-In Fine Arts and Painting, there are 3 primary colours Red, Blue and Yellow.  Yet different colours can be made from combination of these.  For example Red+Blue=Purple!  Purple is simply a combination of 2 primary colours.

I could go on and on.  We all agree with them and take them for granted.  Why is it when it comes to Father+Son+Spirit=GOD all hell is let lose?

Abuzola:

Jesus died who raise him ? The gullible reply was he was it, are you talking to fools ?

He said He is the Resurrection.  I didn't.  He has the authority within himself to raise himself back to life.  Death cannot hold Resurrection.  How hard is that for you to grasp?

John 11:
25 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life.

John 10:
17 The reason my Father loves me is that I lay down my lifeonly to take it up again.

18 No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I have authority to lay it down and authority to take it up again. This command I received from my Father.”

19 At these words the Jews were again divided.

20 Many of them said, “He is demon-possessed and raving mad. Why listen to him?”

See the reaction of the Jews.  So it's not today it started.

Peace!

Nay!  They believed in the divinity of Jesus, not just philosophy!  He is not Socrates or Plato.  He is the Messiah!  They were willing to die for this belief!  And some of them were killed for it.  Even the students of Socrates couldn't die for the philosophy of their master!  They lived before Jesus but none has dates referenced to their births.  They all died and decayed in their graves but the grave of Jesus is empty till today.  He is alive!

If jesus is God then who resurrected him when died ? Satan ?

He is the resurrection.  He said so himself!

the_seeker:

how do u reconcile jesus saying "My God, my God, my God why have you forsaken me"
was he actually acting up for the audience of was he begging himself (or his co-entities) for help"

Jesus the man was in pains (physical and spiritual) on the cross and exclaimed when the Father, for once, separated from him because of the weight of sin he was carrying.  Your sin and mine, the entire human race'.  The Father cannot behold sin.

You know what?  That is not the end of the story.  He died and rose up and is still alive.  That is the real story!

Your analysis is constructive but along the line you seem to divert from the original point of view.

Educate me.

Abuzola:

@analyse, where did jesus said 'i am God', all what you quoted are parable spoken by jesus, like i use to say 'A Messenger of a king is like a king when conveying the king's message,

if jesus acknowlege to ve a father which is God then verily jesus is not a God

I am Analytical, not analyse! Now I am convinced you don't read what you reply to. How can someone call what is quoted above as parable? It beats me. I give up!

Take care man!

@sniyi1, you are right.  There are lots of models and examples that can be used to explain how 3 entities can exist in 1.  It's all around us in nature, science, arts, logic etc.  But people just refuse to acknowledge its possibility not to talk of its reality.  Just this afternoon as I was pondering, these two below came to my mind:

1.  In Geography, Mathematics (Coordinate Geometry), Engineering etc a point is referenced by 3 entities, called coordinates (3-Dimension), x, y and z.  The three makes 1 point in space, each with its attributes and properties!  Three entities but 1 point.  As such a Point A(x,y,z)! 1 point, 3 coordinates that make up the point.

2. In chemistry, a compound is made of different elements that exhibit different attributes and properties (physical and chemical) but coming together to form a single distinct compound in a chemical compsition, not 2 or 3 compounds but 1.  For example Water, H20 is a compound of hydrogen and oxygen, each distinct yet forming a single compound which we all drink!

Nature and science should teach us that if it is possible with the created, it can't be impossible with the Creator!  God is one!  But His nature is 3-dimensional, Father, Word (Son) and Holy Spirit, 3 distinct entities but 1 God!! The full reference of God is GOD(Father, Son, Holy Spirit), just as the full reference of a point is Point A(x,y,z)! QED!!

Abuzola:

Jesus never made himself equal to God, he was stoned because he condemn them for neglecting God's law and killing prophets before him.

Abuzola, you are such an interesting fellow.  Will you read what I am about posting?  Read John 8 vs 12-58 and John 10 vs 22-39.  Please do read that and be corrected.  However, check the excerpts here:

John 8:
58 “I tell you the truth,” Jesus answered, “before Abraham was born, I am!”

59 At this, they picked up stones to stone him, but Jesus hid himself, slipping away from the temple grounds.

John 10:
29 My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand.

30 I and the Father are one.”

31 Again the Jews picked up stones to stone him,

32 but Jesus said to them, “I have shown you many great miracles from the Father. For which of these do you stone me?”

33 “We are not stoning you for any of these,” replied the Jews, “but for blasphemy, because you, a mere man, claim to be God.”

34 Jesus answered them, “Is it not written in your Law, ‘I have said you are gods’?

35 If he called them ‘gods,’ to whom the word of God came—and the Scripture cannot be broken—

36 what about the one whom the Father set apart as his very own and sent into the world? Why then do you accuse me of blasphemy because I said, ‘I am God’s Son’?

37 Do not believe me unless I do what my Father does.

38 But if I do it, even though you do not believe me, believe the miracles, that you may know and understand that the Father is in me, and I in the Father.”

39 Again they tried to seize him, but he escaped their grasp.

so god almighty requires blood to forgive?, there is no other way he can forgive?

He is a just God.  He is the God of justice as well as the God of mercy.  Sin has to be punished.  That is justice.  He cannot go against himself.  His Word declared that without the shedding of blood, there is no remission of sin!  But His mercy will not allow us to die.  He decided to save us from bearing the penalty of sin. Jesus bore that penalty.

Modupe01 explained this below:

modupe01:

Christianity has to do with the self realisation that we are depraved sinners who have sinned against the righteous God and the wages of sin is death, this is the eternal Justice of God, "the soul that sinneth shall die" God being a righteous Judge will not compromise His Justice otherwise He will no longer be a righteous and Just Judge.  If a Judge here in one of the courts here on earth will be counted as corrupt if he lets a murderer go scot free how much more of the righteous God be Just in executing His eternal Justice.  This He did without compromising His Law by becoming a man to die our death and give us life as He is the resurrection and the life.  Through Him we have all died and through Him we shall all live if we believe this truth.

Why do you christians repent if you already know your sins are forgiven?

It is not automatic.  You are not born a christian.  You become a christian by consciously accepting and believing in the sacrifice of Jesus and accepting Him as Saviour and Lord.  At that momemt you accept Him, you become a child of God, fully forgiven and restored back to God.

However, if after that initial step, you maybe fall into sin, if you repent and confess your sin to Him, he forgives you based on what has already been accomplished by Jesus.  The same way a father forgives an erring child.  But that child has to belong to the family first.

Why do you tell your sins to priests?
If I discover I did something wrong, I simply go on my knees repent and confess to my Father in heaven and recieve his forgiveness.  He is my Father.  I have direct access to Him.

However, there are some sins that affect others or have to do with others.  Those shoud be confessed to others in addition so as to make proper ammends.

If Jesus died for humanities sins then why do you still sin?
Jesus has already paid the penalty for sin.  It is left for you to accept the payment.  Same way if someone gives you a cheque, you still have to go cash it in a bank before it becomes yours.

Is there no difference between the Pope and an axe murderer if they both have faith in Jesus?
Where is the justice in that?
Yes.  There is no respect of persons with God.  The vilest offender, he can receive if such will come to Him.  It is not justice.  It is mercy.  Otherwise called GRACE.  Nobody deserves it.  It is all about what has been purchased by the blood of Jesus on behalf of the individual that accepts.

isn't your god's power limited if the only way he can forgive sins is for him to become a man then execute himself on the cross to die for the sins of humanity

Don't you think it rather emphasises His Almightiness?  I haven't seen or heard of any other person calling himself god do that!  Jesus said he laid down his life as a ransom and has the power to take it up again, which he did!  No one qualified for that role, so He had to do it.  Yes, for you and me!

I mean not to bash Christians or their faith, but to understand the idea of Jesus dying for our sins
You are welcome man!  I have tried to simplify things and explain as simply as I could.
Religion / Re: The Fallacious Christian Mathematics by Analytical(m): 11:27am On Nov 11, 2009
You know what, the_seeker?  It's all done!  All paid for now!  Once and for all!  All that is required is to accept, believe and confess the saving grace of the One who died, rose and is alive for evermore.  Nothing more!  The simplicity of that is what many cannot fathom.

Major Yeast Brown, whoever he is, is not God!  He dosen't have the final say!  He is not the one that was sacrificed.  Why should we take what he said as the final say?  But he is entitled to his own opinion.

It is at this point of the sacrificial death that the life-changing decision to commit to Christ is made.  Many have reached that point and refused.  That is the sin God is going to judge- refusal to accept His redemption plan!

We came through Adam. He sinned and none of us was born before that. We came in his sinful state. But Jesus, as the sinless man, through his death , reconciled us to God, as many as receive him.

God bless.
