If only people should learn to exercise their brain and do their own research once a while instead of ...government should do this...government should do that... A simple google search would have provided you what you want to know. Just saying.

This one has forgotten he is still human and isn't guaranteed tomorrow....

What if he is the one who goes down?

Abuja Masterplan, Abuja Masterplan.. Government should publish these Masterplans so that everyone can know it or even have a copy of it, in order to avoid violating it.. Not for any government in power to hide behind a shady and indeterminate "masterplan" to carry out vendetta and take over legitimate properties angry

This government will issue an approval for a building in line with the "masterplan".. The next government will come in and demolish the same building for not being in line with the "masterplan".. Playing politics with people's investments. undecided

------- what sort of bullshit are you even saying...are you really serious right now angry

in the U.S tap water is free, Health care is free (even without medical insurance), security 911 is totally free...

as for electricity, ithe average household pays $122 for 24 hours light which is just 10% of minimum wage in the US

but in nigeria you pay around N15k per month for average of 15 hours light...
then you need to buy generator fuel it at around N150k per month for average of 8 hours per day

thats N165k ($205), or around 500% of minimum wage for 24 hours light...

mind you i havent even add the cost of generator and repairs and maintenance shocked

an average biz that requires 24 hours in Nigeria is bleeped..

and what the hell are you saying in the last paragraph... you're comparing price of paracetamol in the U.S to Nigeria in naira ... since when did you started using naira in the U.S...

mimium wage in the U.S is around 1.2k usd that is around 30x what nigerians earn as mimum wage and you will be still owed salaries for month..

you sound dull to me, even a child wont talk the way you're talking.. i hate dull people, so get out.. angry

youre the naive one here..since when did tax become optional...
We pay taxes in Nigeria indirectly.. We pay on imported goods, property tax, vat..the govt generated a whopping 40 billion from tax in 2021 alone

What has the govt done with all the tax money

Because the citizens provide everything for themselves water, light, security, health care, even roads...

Yet they keep suffocating us with more bills..if I want to pay more ill enroll in private school..

And don't even try to compare security or health care in us to Nigeria

The gap is as wide as from here to the sky...Nigeria is almost the most terrorised country on earth...

This is a country where even the IG of police can be kidnapped in broad day light ...some villages have been deserted due to terrorism..

Since you so much love Nigeria be serious and dash me your visa. And come back to the suffering. No no no nosense.. grin

Because the citizens provide everything for themselves water, light, security, health care, even roads... - LOL . Who told you it is government that is providing those things. I dare you not to pay your regular bills for these things and you will smell pepper - legally and by disconnection.
And don't even try to compare security or health care in us to Nigeria - LOL when you have to buy ordinary pack of Paracetamol from pharmacy for equivalent of N5,000 , and your health insurance provider bills you equivalent of N200k for a 15 minutes video chat with a doctor, your brain will begin to complain and tell you falling ill in US is a terrifying thing.

Anyway, have a nice week.

common 10% tax what has the govt done with the 10%... good roads education, security, healthcare, power supply.. mention one..

over there healthcare is free..their security is intact..infact their govt will pay you salary if you're unemployed... is like saying the price of wheel barrow should be increased because is way cheaper that aeroplane .. grin just stop it..

You are so naive .
"what has the govt done with the 10%" - did you pay ? 99% of Nigerians not on PAYE tax will never pay.
"over there healthcare is free" - In which country specifically. It is all paid from your tax in UK. In US I paid 40% tax and must still pay separately for my health insurance.
"their security is intact." - true, but it never stops hundreds of people from being shot every day.
.infact their govt will pay you salary if you're unemployed - there is nothing automatic about this. It is all conditional.

The argument here is that Nigerians no more know the purpose and value of education because it is cheap. In the US it is common to find students working part time to be able to be able to pay for their university education. Nigerians want it all easy on a platter of gold. That is why most Nigerian companies will rather hire a student who studied abroad than the best of those that studied in Nigeria. Because the other knows how to work to achieve a desired purpose...at any cost.

I think we are just taking Reno's data without crosschecking...
Ghana's average/mean salary and value should be the indices here not minimum wage .

Google - https://bdeex.com/ghana/
would show it's around $320 not $65

In all wages needs be improved and fees raised to sustain the educational system.

And what is Nigeria's average/mean salary ?

I have no problem for increase in education fees but is Nigeria ripe for that? A country where we have over 20 million of out-of-school children with inflation skyrocketing everyday. Even those that went to school can't find jobs but go to the uneducated skill workers to learn informal jobs for survival. They should try to create jobs and increase civil servants salary to for them be able to pay their children's school fees, that's my own. Otherwise, more drop outs loading as schools start hiking fees with this harsh economy robbing every penny that enters our accounts.

There will be scholarships for eligible candidates. There will be loans for those that can't obtain scholarship. The system will improve the quality of university admissions and graduands. We will no more be producing graduates that cannot spell their own names. And before you go for university option, you will ask yourself if it is worth spending your money on or you should invest the money on a vocation instead.

Politics / Re: All Materials Used For Kaduna Governorship Election Brought To Court (pictures) by emonkey(m): 3:44am On Jul 21, 2023
Penguin2:

https://twitter.com/SafeeyanM/status/1682031172560519169?t=wpk2NX9YPr1Kh1wf0QwmfA&s=19

In what seems like the order of the tribunal, all the electoral materials that INEC used in the conduct of Kaduna governorship election has been brought to court.

It is so disheartening to see that INEC would still conduct an unacceptable election in 2023 after the appreciable improvements they showed with the conducts of Edo, Anambra, Ekiti and Osun elections.

In fact, in Edo and Ekiti, the result was so transparent that the candidates who lost the election did not even approach the tribunal.

In Anambra, the candidate of the PDP who came second, saw no need approaching the tribunal as he saw that he truly lost the election through a transparent process. Only the candidate of the APC was expressing overzealousness and possibly hoping to become governor through the backdoor before the Supreme Court quashed his candidacy.

But fast forward to 2023, INEC abandoned these gains and went back to as things were during the analog era when they manipulated results to favour a predetermined outcome which is why there seem to be myriads of litigation all over the country as it regards the election; from House of Assembly, to House of Rep, to Senators, to Governorship and ultimately the presidential election, none was transparent enough that every candidate could agree on its outcome.

The Electoral 2022 was introduced to help bring transparency into our election. It introduced such digital facilities such as the BVAS and IREV and mandated electronic transfer/transmission of votes.

If this had been followed, it would have been like the public scoreboard in football stadium where the goals are written as they are scored and everyone in the stadium can see it. The referee and the match officials will not use the scoreboard to record the outcome of the match because they have their own record, but their own record cannot be different from what was displayed on the scoreboard and seen by everyone.

At the end of the match each side goes home satisfied that at least his team did not score goals and it wasn’t recorded for them; everything was transparent.

Why was transparency easy for INEC in Edo, Anambra, Ekiti and Osun but became difficult in general election?

Why did INEC regress rather than progress?

Nothing out of place yet. Donald Trump also challenged the results of the election in court. He lost again.

1. Jesus Christ is right when He said that you folks don't care about God and the things of God in Matthew 15 vs 1 - 10 & Mark 7 vs 1 - 13. undecided

The God you lot claim to pray to says He absolutely does not answer the prayers of the unrighteous. According to Him, the prayers, praises, giving/offerings/tithes, petitions, "good" works, etc., of the unrighteous are made filthy by their sins and hence an unacceptable abomination to Him. So, your prayers are never in fact answered by God. Your giving never reaches God nor is acknowledged by God. This means there is no power to your giving and definitely no power to your praying rituals, among others since these rituals never reach God as they are all unholy to Him. So unless you are attempting to say that the power you speak of comes from your gods of men, you are not making any sense here. undecided

What are we saying and what is this one saying? We are talking about how regular people achieve happiness through the mere act of giving, and this one is quoting Bible and Jesus to refute that suggestion. You are a very funny person. Please what is the title of your Tiktok page so that I may subscribe.

1. If you had bothered to read the OP, you would have gotten from it that this is a case of a dependent unwisely using limited funds from her son. This is not her own hard-earned money that she is spending here hence the reason why her son is complaining, and rightly too. If he decided to cut her off completely, I bet you would be one of the first to try to blackmail him. lipsrsealed

2. Here's the thing though. This means your praying rituals are no more effective than say a humming session. That you pretend it makes your lives happier is one thing but let's not here pretend you are being real. grin

3. Giving it to people who have greater need of it ain't necessarily about greater joy as it may simply just be more about choosing not to be wasteful. You churchians give your pastors your money and they in turn use it to franchise their businesses and income sources, all to the glory of their kingdoms here on earth. I guess if using your sweat to profit another man's legacy here on earth is what gives you joy, I say more grease to your elbow then. undecided

4. Interesting story! I bet your pastor who you keep giving all your money to would not be deterred by such a story when it comes to his leaving an inheritance for his own kids. I remember reading somewhere — Pandora files, I think — that Bishop Oyedepo had money stashed away in a tax-free haven somewhere in some foreign countries for his kids. These so-called pastors and mogs saddle their gullible followers with ridiculous stories such as the one you spewed there in order to deter them from paying serious mind to their duty as parents, while they, our greedy gods of men, continue to stash as much away as they can for their hay days and even for their kids to continue their legacy. Sad isn't it? undecided

With your mindset, it seems you can never understand the power of giving, and how that mere act sets you free from contentions, greed, pride and the senseless desire to hoard things. You'd give someone a goat and hold on to the rope around the animal's neck. Is that giving? When you give money to your own mother and then tell her how to spend it, is that giving?
I quite understand where you are coming from though. It is well.
Religion / Re: Religion Has Finished My Mother.. by emonkey(m): 4:38am On Jul 13, 2023
Kobojunkie:
1. So given that the world is going through a recession and she not an earner, from the story, the idea of her saving that money for her children's inheritance or at least her grandkids is completely out of the question? Or even her choosing to give the money to those truly in need is completely not an option , abi? undecided

2. ○ And what do these prayers of yours do for you or your kids?

○ Are you somehow convinced that your praying make you better than a prayerless parent who resorts instead to saving every penny in order to have an inheritance stashed away for her kids?

For all matters in this life, there is a choice. Follow yours. If I prefer to give everything in my will to a church or other institution, it is the choice that will make me die happy and fulfilled.
If I prefer to pray so that I do not use the same hours to worry, it is my choice. If it makes my life happier to live it is a wise choice for me even if it looks silly to you.
If it gives you greater joy to save your money instead of giving it away to make people around you happy, by all means embrace the choice.
A family I know began to kill each other because of property left to them by their father. Another sold the house left by their father and shared the money. One of them cannot till today point to anything he bought with his share . It was like it vanished away like smoke. That is what inheritances are like. Money not earned will never stay. It is come easy go easy.
Enjoy your choices. Peace.

SultanOfPuna:
Religion has turned my mother into a shadow of herself.
Ever since our teenage years my mother was not the churchy type. We are raised Catholics
Back then she was active and bubbling.

all of a sudden my mother left Catholic faith and started messing around with different churches.
This has cause countless rift between us, my dad and elder sister have done everything possible but my mum is too brainwashed by these Pentecostal pastors.

How can someone be attending Christ embassy and winners chapel?? I Heard she wants to join mountain of fire but changed her mind.
Everytime church, church, church
Yet she never gain anything from it
I have been sending her money for her for upkeep since November last year only to come back home February this year and discovered she donates everything to different churches

I feel she might have a mental disorder and I don't know how to save her.
She literally spends all the money in church donation tithe and all those craps. And those pastors always calling her to come for one program or the other. I don't know what to do

Where would you prefer, she spend her time? Owambe parties?
What would you prefer she spend money on? Wine and perfume and shoes?
You are the reverse situation of the parent who wants to live out their child's life for the child by monitoring the child's activities and picking faults. You are attempting to live out your mother's life for her by monitoring her activities and picking faults. What a shame.
I am a parent and I know how much I worry about my children every day. I have two choices - I can keep worrying or I can go somewhere to pray for them. I wish I had more time to do the latter. If you feel pastors calling her to on program or the other is a mental disorder, I am afraid you are the one that need a psychiatrist. You apparently prefer to have your mother sit at home all day like the furniture, unappreciated, depreciating and unloved, watching the rest of her life slowly, sadly and painfully tick away.
Your own time will eventually come.
