Politics / Re: Ondo Female Legislator Suspended Over Fetish Objects Possession by Ngwakwe(m): 10:34am
Traditional Worship is one of the religions practiced in Nigeria according to the constitution. The woman should go to court to challenge the suspension.

Actually she has the right to use those objects provided she is not infringing on peoples right.

Who determines what is fetish, if Legislatures pray in the hallowed chambers why should she not be giving the liberty to hold unto what she believes in. Let's not forget the oaths they swear in secrets before assuming political powers only to claim saints to ordinary people.

Hypocrisy everywhere.

Jarus: Too bad. Thought religion has taken away all these. This is one of the reason I don't intend participating in elective politics in Nigeria. Hardly possible not to compromise, if not moral/ethics, it's faith.

Poverty is a relative term by the way, the wealth of a people lies with their hardworking, career and trained work force who are ready to take challenges and work without depending on the government.

Remember those cry babies of Fuel Subsidy Removal (instead of fuel voucher distribution per voter), always dependent of what the Government will do for them while contributing less for development of the country.

Provided the South East by extension Ndigbo continues to provide the much needed services in transportation, trade and commerce, import and export, craft and workmanship, education and technology etc, poverty will never have a foothold in the East whilst street begging will remain infinitesimal to say the lest.

The power to decipher the words of the wise-man seems to live with the aged. A situation where we have career barrier creators instead of unifier is becoming pathetic and embarrassing.

The erudite scholar and professor laments the inherent prejudice living with our so called intellectuals and is warning of the dangers in transmitting such to the new generation by the use of internet and social media.

Deep words of wisdom is only advantageous to the wise of this world not necessarily in the books.

My candid advice to the Prof is to speak in plain words as the days of reasoning and power to interpret words are gone with the our fore-fathers.

We have allocations that States and their LGAs maintain common purse .

The formula for these allocations in relation to the number of LGAs is mysterious and omirimious to say the lest.

Below is the STATE ALLOCATION FOR MAY 2013

11 BORNO. 27 LGCS. 22.1BN

20.OSUN. 30LGCS. 18.76BN

30.CROSS RIVERS. 18LGCS. 16.5BN
Politics / Re: State Allocations For May, 2013. by Ngwakwe(m): 8:27am
From the Allocations received by FG and States according to the figures tabled above, there have been unfair comparison of level of developments between some rich and poor states.
Politics / Re: State Allocations For May, 2013. by Ngwakwe(m): 8:21am
Ondo, Edo, Abia, Cross River and Imo State still have lesser allocations in spite of the additional 13% derivation.

What would have been of them without the add.

Politics / Soyinka Warns against Instigating Younger Generation by Ngwakwe(m): 7:48am

Prof Wole Soyinka

Nobel laureate, Professor Wole Soyinka, has condemned acts that are deliberately aimed at negatively influencing the minds of the people to act badly.

Soyinka, in a statement titled: ‘The Village Mourners Association,’ wednesday lampooned whoever that used his privileged position to
instigate others to take actions against their conscience.

While recalling that his gesture to honour the late literary icon, Prof. Chinua Achebe, with a ram gift during his 60th birthday, which
he could not attend, was tagged as responsible for the late author of Things Fall Apart’s eventual accident and his categorisation as
Achebe’s ‘enemy’, Soyinka described whoever was responsible for the unfounded rumours as “dangerous.”

“These self-righteous clerics are dangerous beings, especially where they flaunt the credentials of secular learning and gather in caucuses of presumed humanities. From the herd, the mindless Internet fiddlers for whom the landing of a planetary probe, or a medical breakthrough is simply distraction from fraudulent internet mailing, nothing less is expected.

What menaces the collective health of society is when the deserving highs of intellectual application of the former, become
indistinguishable from the loutish low of the latter,” he noted.

According to him, it was these breed of people continue to sow poison in the minds of the susceptible and that as teachers, they cultivate hatred in the minds of their students.

“I lament your failure to use the opportunity of the passing of a revered writer to turn your younger generation in enlightened
directions. You have chosen instead to coarsen their sensibilities and breed in their minds misunderstanding, suspicion and above all – hate!
“You will have understood by now how I have come to view you as no different from the homicidal clerics who arm youths with kerosene and match, cudgel and knife, a few naira in their beggars’ bowls, and dispatch them to set fire to structures of comradely cohabitation, of reflection, of mind enlargement, and destroy communities of learning.
Your gospel of separatism goes beyond the geographical – in which I have not the slightest interest! – but the humanistic.

“The difference is in the weapon – in your case, poison, mind corrosion. The means – Internet, and its wide open, undiscriminating
generosity. That is where you lay spores of poison, and doom future generations to a confinement of human relationships within the darkest corners of the mind,” he said.

He also underscored the needlessness of making the people suffer over the death of someone, stressing that when people “encounter hostility over their sensibilities in dealing with loss in their own way, privately, away from public eye, with or without symbolic public gestures, then we are witnessing the end, not simply of plain civility, but of civilisation, and the enthronement of Fascism.”

“It is not the intolerance and excess of a moment’s excitation, but of a cultivated arrogance and will to imposition, one that attempts to
dictate the private responses of others to shared events,” he lamented.

Live and let live.

Everybody who has vision and passion to return Aba to its past glory is what we need even if he/she is a Yoruba or Hausa who live and do business in the State.

But in a free and fair election, Ngwa has the number, any day to govern Aba.

I will never forget the days when Nnanna Ukegbu was Aba LGA Chairman when he took development to the next level.

pazienza:

Shame on you oppressor. Abia needs a good governor and there are lots of talents from ngwaland to fufill that task.

If i might ask, what have you people from abia north and umuahia zone done for aba and abia?

Whats good for the goose is good for than gander, for the sake of equity and justice, which is needed to provide peaceful enviroment for aba and abia to blossom, ngwa should produce the next state governor. Abia north and umuahia have failed abia so far. This is not a case of promoting mediocrity as we all know that all parts of abia are equally educated with enough pool of intellectuals to draw from.

Nigeria Honoured for Reducing Hunger

Politics / FAO Honours Nigeria, Others For Reducing Hunger by Ngwakwe(m): 2:35pm On Jun 19
FAO honours Nigeria, others for reducing hunger

FROM the United Nations Food and Agricultural Organisation (FAO) has come honour for Nigeria and 37 other nations for reducing the number of people living in absolute hunger in their countries by half, well ahead of international targets for the year 2015.

Nigeria was presented with diplomas for meeting the MDG-1 target by the FAO Director-General, José Graziano da Silva, during a high-level ceremony attended by several heads of state.

The ceremony took place during the weeklong meeting of FAO’s highest governing body, the Conference in Rome.

In his remark, the FAO Director-General stated: “To each and every one of you, I want to say that you are living proof that when societies decide to put an end to hunger, and when there is political commitment from governments, we can transform that into concrete action and results.

“FAO is proud to work with all our member nations, developed and developing, to reach our common vision of a hunger-free and sustainable world.”

The Director-General pointed out that there were 928 days until the 2015 MDG deadline, but he urged countries to go beyond that and aim for the complete elimination of hunger.

“We are the first generation that can end hunger, which has plagued humanity since the birth of civilisation. Let’s seize this opportunity,” he said.

Other countries that also received diplomas for meeting the MDG-1 target include Algeria, Angola, Bangladesh, Benin, Brazil, Cambodia, Cameroon, Chile, Dominican Republic, Fiji, Honduras, Indonesia, Jordan and Malawi.

Nigeria is getting there under GEJ, one step at a time.

You have lost your principles and only make comments to generate Likes on Nairaland.

1. We all recharge our call/gprs bills. We still have alternatives in Power(KVA) as in Solar, Generators and Batteries.

2. FG is not stopping Amaechi from generating Power, Peter Odili was never stopped by OBJ and if Amaechi wants to continue in generating Power, he can sell it to Discos with specific instruction on distributing it in Rivers State.

Okija_juju: So why wouldnt the FG allow Amaechi do the same thing in Rivers State?!

We already generate more than we need in the State. Why not allow us distribute and then pump the excess into the Federal grid?!

Okija_juju: Next complaint::: High Electricity bills.. grin

I know that Armed Forces receive their monthly cheque after it has been credited in their different bank accounts. Secondly, their payment is collectively paid irrespective of where you are, be it on leave, international duty, special task / assignment etc.

I presume the Soldiers are talking about their added allowances for the special assignment of which the payment lies solely with the Ecowas or United Nation as the case may be.

Withdrawal of your wages is solely dependent on the individual soldier.

Ekwueme is not the chief executive but deputising as in delegated authority.

The reference he was pointing out is that any failure of Shagarri's govt and the corresponding punishment should be borne by Shagarri.

OBj recently accepted responsibility for all his administration failure when Oby Ezekwesili was accused of double dealing.

Putting Shagarri under house arrest while imprisoning Ekwueme is an abnormality that calls to question Buhari's sense of judgement and impartiality.

Whilst at it, S/W caucus and Afanifere went to Abuja shouting marginalisation in Federal appointment.

This should be a great lesson for Greece, Spain, Italy, Cyprus and Northern Ireland.

As for Nigeria, our politician told us to exercise some patience, that they are still learning after 14 years of our new republic.

The NASS has nothing to offer in terms of economic development proposals and passing enabling laws to protect micro economic developments from fraudsters. The judiciary are still acquitting criminals while the Executive has lost the actual formula that is indigenous to Nigerian Climate.
