Dude your citizenship is not a degree, you have to make your opportunities your self.
Your success doesn't depend on your citizenship. Be yourself and be proud of your origins !
Things you are saying are shameful ! My oncle in the USA is a medical doctor, but he refused the US citizenship because he is proud of his origins.
People who say what you say generally don't do much in life, you just get the us citizenship and then rely on welfare.

(Pseudo) patriotism is indeed the last refuge of knaves and scoundrels.

Some posters who 'love' Nigeria pour out their nationalism all over their keyboards just to get a rise out of other people. But deep down they know a lot is terribly wrong with this country. I don't really have a problem with such people - sooner or later it becomes clear where they really stand.

The real problem is the large mass of politically illiterate individuals who are ignorant and unschooled about how modern (or ancient) democracies work (or worked). There are several of them on this thread. These individuals view 'patriotism' through a pinhole sized prism and interpret the world around them in terms of their narrow definition of what it means to love one's country. Just like some individuals have a morality determined principally by the length of women's hemlines (or some other trivia), some individuals define patriotism primarily by intolerance to (largely well deserved) criticism.

The terrible thing about it is that this mass of incurious individuals has the right to vote.

We are the architects of our own destruction.

Said it all.

Actually my uncle went to the US on a student visa, he got his degrees in the US and he is making real money which he mostly saves up, he comes back to Nigeria for events and is planning to come back as soon as he has enough money to open his own hospital.
He also has a little problem: he has kids who were born in the USA and who are serving the us military, that makes it difficult for him to definatly come back, he needs to be there for the kids.
You live in a buble, the us citizenship is not worth the paper on which it is printed, only lazy people have use for it.
Dangot never got any US citizenship, yet bring any black american and offer him to wash Dangot's foot, he would be glad to do that for free!
Once again, your citizenship is not a degree. You have to make your opportunities yourself !
With your new us citizenship you have many limitations, indeed the us law doesn't give you all the advantages of people who were born in the us.
What you should be talking about are your plans, what are you trying to archieve ? If all your plans are about getting us citizenship and that's all then you will be a beggar or a prostitute in the upcoming years.

You and your friend are complete ignoramuses living in some thick forested village in Ogbomosho.

Why don't you educate yourself on the process of becoming a US citizen here?

http://www.uscis.gov/us-citizenship/naturalization-ceremonies

You may be able to participate in a naturalization ceremony on the same day as your interview. If a ceremony is unavailable, we will mail you a notice with the date, time, and location of your scheduled naturalization ceremony on a Form N-445, Notice of Naturalization Oath Ceremony.

If you cannot attend your scheduled naturalization ceremony, return the notice, Form N-445, Notice of Naturalization Oath Ceremony, to your local USCIS office, along with a letter requesting a new date and explaining why you cannot attend the scheduled naturalization ceremony. Failing to appear more than once for your naturalization ceremony may lead to a denial of your application.

So as you can see, it is a not a national event, as even local courts in different towns and cities (designated, of course) can do this.

Yes, US Citizenship is not a degree or license. But an average US citizen has better opportunities in this world than an average Nigerian citizen. You are using Dangote as a wrong example as he is not an average Nigerian. In any case, compare Dangote (richest Nigerian) to Bill Gates (richest American), who is greater?

He is guilty of the same thing he is accusing people of. He is also intolerent to other people's opinions and he believes his ideas are superior.
That guy is a narcicist. And tell me this: with all the negative press circulating against Nigeria, do you really think that trying to give at least one positive image of the country is wrong ?
When was the last time you heard that cameroon was corrupt ?
Well it is much more corrupt than Nigeria, yet all you hear is that Nigeria is corrupt, so corrupt !
When did anyone tell you that the us military is corrupt ?
Well they are, it is just not broadcasted.
Instead of criticizing and therefor joigning the millions of media bashing against Nigeria, why don't you do something that helps for a change ?
Why don't you open a school in Nigeria ?
Why don't you make a political party ?
Why don't you open a car factory in Nigeria ?

You really would seek any and everything to feel inferior to others won't you? Perhaps Africa's GDP surpassing India's by nearly $700 billion makes India unattractive to Africans when Africa still has loads of markets to satiate. You see, once you rid yourself of inferiority complex, you start to see the reasons for everything, which go beyond your present, lazy, simple-minded 'black is bad, white is good' explanation for everything. Africa may have more land than India, but half the African land is uninhabitable desert, and another quarter dense forest. The oil is overrated. Kuwait alone has larger reserves than Nigeria, Libya and Angola combined.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Economy_of_India says India's GDP is 2.043 trillion

The whole of Africa is 2.263 trillion http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_African_countries_by_GDP_%28nominal%29

Ordinary math, you no sabi? How is 2.263 trillion minus 2.043 trillion equal 700 billion? Olodo rabata

Bill gates is a white american who was born in america.
And you are not white ! No matter how many us citizenships you get, you will still be black !
So perhaps we should rather compare Dangot with the richest black american, who is greatest ?
Dangot has about ten times the fortune of your opra winfrey !
And let me repeat this, opportunities do not depend on your citizenship, it all depends on you.
No matter where you are from if you want to succeed then you can, working hard is all you need.
Even the US is tired of people it refers to as aliens who don't work hard and just come for the us citizenship and rely on welfare for the rest of their lives. What nations want are people who work hard !
Although the average us citizen has bigger chances in becoming obeze, that I agree !
But once and for all, you don't compare people's citizenship ? (it is an insult which borders on racism)
Unless you also want us to compare people's color !
I can categorically say that the average white american has much more opportunities in life than the average black american !

First of all the point Russike was making is that india has more population than Africa, yet contrary to what some were saying Africa has a bigger GDP ! And I think you need to stop relying on wikipedia or else I might go and change the numbers on wikipedia to make a point.

Look, first of all my cousins are half white, their mother is a white woman and they were born in the usa, they have never been to Nigeria because of their mother ! They don't even have Nigerian citizenship, in that perspective I don't see how you want them to magically serve in the Nigerian military. And as I have said, my uncle is in america with a plan, a business plan : make as much money as possible then come back home and open a hospital and if possible a chain of hospitals !
There is no sentiment in his being in the us, it is just about business, the same way many americans travel to Nigeria to work in the oil sector and make a lot of money !
The truth remains that the average white american has much more opportunities in life than the average black american, right ?

I agree, India is not the country we should be emulating because we are at par with them. We should be looking to China and may be Brazil. Brazil is an interesting country whose GDP is quite high. They also have many poor people, but I think they are doing better than India, by far. I was there recently and was awed by what I saw.

I have news for you, you ! In the US it is all about racism. The black guys who make it are a result of the quota system. In that quota system they don't care about quality and generally don't give the job to the most qualified black man. They give it to a bblack man they can use and like that the masses of black americans are happy, while in reality most of the black americans are still being gunned down by "stand your ground laws" or some racist NRA members. Most of the prisoners in your prisons are black because your justice system sees black people as a menace and protects only the white.
Listen, you have a much bigger chance of becoming a begger, a prisoner or any other negative thing than becoming a university don.
Even african-americans don't like you, they will discriminate against you because to them you are an african and therefor they think you are inferior to them. You are not even a second class citizen (reserved to african americans), you are a third class citizen, and most of them will still refer to you as "an illegal alien", no matter the papers you have.
Racism doesn't disappear as you climb the ladder, it only becomes worse, because as you climb the ladder you are more and more surrounded by racist white people.

OP this is not just Africa but Blackman (you inclusive) in entirety.

Nigeria has always had the potential to push the blackman to the fore-front of reckoning in the world but have been bedeviled by extreme corruption and bad leadership which has made it a laughing stock in the committee of nations.

There are individual sparks of brilliance from Blackman/Africans but collectively we have not created a working and successful society.

It is more like mirage. I have lived in Western Europe and now the US. Daily life for an average person is by far more advanced and easier in W. Europe than in the US. Two examples: health insurance and transportation. And yes, it is easier to become a billionaire in America than Europe, but you have to work you arse off, in any case, or get lucky.

The higher you go on the ladder, the more you face racists. Because they are the ones controlling the quota system and empowering low performing black people who they totally controle. They are doing some population controle, my friend ! They don't want any black man in those positions but to keep most black people happy, they throw a bone from time to time ! I am not calling all white perosn as racist, i am only facing reality !
The higher you go on the ladder, the more you face racists. Because they are the ones controlling the quota system and empowering low performing black people who they totally controle. They are doing some population controle, my friend ! They don't want any black man in those positions but to keep most black people happy, they throw a bone from time to time ! It is not that you are not working hard it is that they are scared of what a truly gifted black man can do and they can't control him ! That is why they kill truly gifted black people like Martin Luther King.
Not so long ago their parties were kickstarted by the hanging and burning to death of some black people.

How do you even begin to go higher in America if people that would promote you are racists? Please tell me

Look here, dundy, I am a Nigerian from Igboland, I have lived in Nigeria, W. Europe and USA. While growing up in Nigeria, I did not receive a single help from any Nigerian (except my parents and relations). In my first job in Nigeria, I was discriminated against by Yorubas and in my second by Ijaws, all because I am Igbo. Today, I am a group leader in an American company. I was a unit head in Europe before being transferred to the US. A white man in Nigeria gave me the opportunity that enabled me leave the country to go study in Europe. Thereafter, I got a job there. So, all I am today, warts and all, was brought about by my association with white people. They made me who I am. I am not worshiping them but I am grateful to them. So I am not going to sit down and listen to your crap. There are racists and tribalists in Nigeria, and you are CLEARLY one of them. There are white, black, yellow and green racists everywhere in the world. The world is not a bed of roses.

You are nothing but a frustrated village man. Your type is destined to be poor and infested with an incurable disease.

While you are here hating, Dangote, Orji Kalu and other African businessmen are wining and dining with white businessmen such as Bill Gates and Zuckerberg.

Please remain in your rabbit hole in your small village and die of Malaria. Anu ofia.
