Thread is still on....so here is my comment so to speak.

It does not matter who is in charge...or how much we save....dutch diseased economies always create more problems than one can imagine.

What we should be doing is forgetting that we are a rich country...(we are not)...and focusing on technical education and removing the fuel subsidy to spend the money on industrial development....and public transport.

Oil is a curse.

P.S..

The revenue it generates when prices are high tends to cause “Dutch-Diseases”, high oil revenue raises exchange rates, promotes an adverse balance of payments when prices fall, reduce the incentive to risk investment in non-oil sectors like agriculture and manufacturing. Just one example is Nigeria, which, since initiating the export of oil has seen its agricultural sector collapsing and now it is entirely dependent on imported food.

BRO i stand on a neutral ground. if APC pick fashola or amechi as their number 1 candidate, i will 100% support them regardless the party they are from. but buhari is a complete no for many people.

back to the topic.
so you mean i can say your family is bad by comparing the success of your dad and you? it doesn't make sense.
enlighten the general public on why APC is the best party.
start uplifting APC rather than telling them former PDP did better than present. i can interpret that as (GEJ is bad, but PDP is still better)
tell them PDP is not the party we seek.

what i see on this thread is GEJ bashing but PDP upliftment.

This is PDP VS APC.
More like saying I am bad by comparing the success of my Dad and Mum, meanwhile ignoring all the factors, context and challenges surrounding the 3 of us. #Clueless

Very typical, just like your lord; hound a man for exposing corruption.

Whenever I think about Jonathan and the manner in which he manages the country's wealth, all I remember are Amanpour's words in the interview she had with him when he attended a meeting of the World Economic Forum in Davos.

Below was her question:

And Jonathan's awesome reply was:

People around the president know deep down he should have absolutely no business whatsoever with leadership.

Sup bro. I might not particularly be a fan of Uncle Jo, but I see nothing wrong with that particular answer.

This bunkering stuff is akin to drugs, and not something one can easily defeat - especially in these climes. And once there is DEMAND, some form of supply will most certainly arise to meet it.

How has the US and co historically fared in their drug war?

I believe his point was about tackling this from the demand-side too. The same way there are ivory laws in lots of countries.

Furthermore, even if Jo has honest intentions, how about the lieutenants he appoints? These guys want to become billionaires. And the law-enforcement agents at the bottom of the food-chain stand no chance in hell of doing anything either.

For everyone in the chain, its really either: "Silver or Lead?" (apologies to the Pablo Escobar).

Is it that this forum is only for youths who are exuberant? but the topics are always matured and informative. So why can't the admin caution these people who are uncouth and very easily call people names.? As good as this forum is, I shake my head anytime I read this name calling. I will not speak for Buhari or any other politician for that matter. This post was not about APC or PDP; it was about President Jonathan, that man is heading us for the rocks. Let PDP produce another candidate and then we can start talking. But if na GEJ till 2019, then Nigeria may be worse than it is now; with GEJ I don't see anything great happening to this country. I just pray God can save us...

Several threads have been opened just to regain the image battered today by datolee, Buhari is not sellable

why are you trying so hard to fool us? am a Niger-Deltian and i have traveled round Nigeria to an extent. but truth be told Gej has not done well at all. i don't support and will never support him as he encourages corrupt practices on every side.
stop fooling yourself none of the masses from where i am are supporting him or pdp.
Nigeria needs somebody who can act not minding whose ox was gored.
the pdp states in the north east only one state has been trying to make the masses feel democracy. only Gombe. others are zero

Welcome to our World. Many people result to insults when they have no superior argument or evidence. Most of those that throw out insults are those that have very little or no rationale argument for their defence.

Wait let get something straight...
Under Yar adua regime, the Naira was defended, yet we had increase reserve
Under Obasanjo regime same thing, yet we had increase reserve
Under Jonathan same thing yet we get depleted reserve

At a point the Naira was devalued in EVERY regime... But it was necessary at that time. It wasn't perculiar to Jonathan. Yet his case is different.

Meanwhile:
The Oil Price under Objs started at less than $20 per barrel in 1999 and peaked at $90 in 2007

That of Yar adua peaked at $147 perbarrel, as at then the reserve was $64billion, ALL time hgh. It only slipped when the oil price dropped to $35 during the economic meltdown. He also rescued banks. Yar adua still had to bear the burden of the extra subsidy bills

Jonathan's Reserve have been going downward, he has been enjoying a good Oil Price at $88 to 107$ for the past 4years.. Something non of his precessors enjoyed. Jonathan had the privilege of Subsidy removal since 2012. Instead of his Reserve to GO UP, it is depleting.

Only Jonathan BLEEPED our debt without Mercy.

My friend How do you explain this? Remember to use EVERY economic indices. You keep dodging this interesting part of OIL Market Price. You are very funny bro

Yes and Sanusi was the CBN governor under Yaradua.

N/B:
Of the $9.3 billion EXTERNAL DEBT, Federal Government’s owes $6.36b, while ALL 36 States plus FCT owes $3.0 billion
As at 2010, Oil Price was at $89 per barrel
As at 2011, It was $103 per barrel
As at Now it is $100 per barrel http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_oil_market_chronology_from_2003
Meaning, Jonathan have access to more more money than Yar Adua, but he depleted the Foreign Reserve and Still Purge Us into Further Debt With NOTHING to show
If you are a true Economist, you will also note the expenditure in those calculations. We owe nothing compared to the developed world, did you not hear of a state going bankrupt in the US, the state where EMINEM is from.
