As per accommodation, get on gumtree.com.au and look for sharehouse or flatshare, hotels are crazily expensive here. You can also check flatmates.com.au
Getting your first accommodation without Australian rental & job history could be really difficult, so have it in mind that you may stay upto a month or two in the temporary accommodation.

On a more serious note, bring some nkwobi when coming.

Your IELTS score won't generate any points for you. You need 7 and above to get points for English language skills. Your exp will get you 10pts though.

Your job description has to closely match the job description of your nominated occupation...not a 100% match, but at least 80%. That's why I asked you to paste your current job description, so I can see if it matches your nominated occupation.

Offering to pay a few upfront makes your application stronger even though they are not obliged to take the payment, in my own experience, many of them would not want to.

Just like surveyor said, you may need to withhold some information to improve your chances of success. Most landlords want tenants that will do the least damage to their property, understandably so, having kids and pets is a serious impediment to getting accommodation.

Accommodation here is mostly not done on first come, first served basis, they gather and assess all applications and choose the most preferred from the lot.

As a side note, How long does VETASSESS take in their assessment? A friend of mine applied since 3rd October, but no communication uptill now.

During recruitment process in Oz, do recruiters have to do work reference and academic confirmations again or they rely on results from one's assessing body like vetassess; as we know confirmations from Nigeria sometimes can take forever, hence delaying resumption. E.g in the UK, one can only resume when all checks are completed as opposed to the employment process in Nigeria, where checks are done like 3-6months into employment.

It takes about 12 weeks. Still on course. However, he can send them a mail to ask if all the needed documents are with them.

Thanks UBKtech. Thought as much too. That is a more organized way of job and acada referencing. I missed a Lloyds Bank job in UK for a Risk role cos of prolonged replies from my Uni in Nigeria.
