Vo: types 4 a while and doesnt touch the letter then says "so have u applied for a US Visa before?
Me: the only US Visa i have had was in xyz year and i went on a vacation with my family for just a month.

Pls does anyone know a university in the USA whose masters will be around 3k per semester, that's 6k for the first year? Can I find any school that cheap ? I want to study MPH
Also, after my masters, is it possible for me to get a job with my earned masters degree and eventually use the job to migrate legally in the USA ? Is this possible pls
try write Gre and get GA, I doubt if they are school that have low tuition as low as 3k. Yes you can get a job after masters and get H1 visa and become a PR afterwards

Hi guys, I have a small matter - I got admitted for a program in the spring but I want to defer till fall semester mainly due to financial reasons. I'm aware that some of us on this thread has deferred admission before, kindly advise me on other cogent reasons I could use. Thanks.
tell them financial constraint , just tell them to defer your admission till fall. They will gladly do that. No school wants you to come to the usa and run out of status
Re: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part 6 by zeezahbee(f): 3:53am On Nov 21, 2014
Well I know load of peepz that came in for Mph and wrote usmle exam. Usmle is also a route to become PR. As for your family, you can decide they move in with you on F2 or B2 visa, that is if you can be able to afford it because your wife wont be able to work. Its gonna be hard to as Student plus you will be writing usmle exam. Think about it but I will advice you leave your family in nig for a while like 2years then they move later. Once you are on F1 visa, your school can't allow you to defer, they will only give u option of going back home or tell you to appply for economic hardship. Usmle is much better you write it in usa, it opens you to loads of opportunity and its the straight path to getting an H1 and possibly PR. With the new obama immigration reform tonight, you gat no worries

...................Hello guys,

I am a medical doctor married with two kids. I graduated about three years ago and currently a practitioner. I intend to further my studies in the United states via a masters program in public health. The facts are:

1. I presently have a valid b2b1 visa to the states, have visited thrice.
2. My 'real' intention is eventual migration with my family after completing my education.
3. I have secured a visiting visa for my family.

The questions bothering me are thus:
1. Should I go to US and do the processing of my admission or stay back here in Nigeria and do it? Which is felicitous for my intentions?
2. Can I write uslme, then change my 'visit' status to an f1 visa? Is this possible or legal?
3. After the first year of masters programme, can I take like 2 years leave of absence to work and gather money for the second year tuition fee ?
Please, I am totally verdant to the whole 'student visa' process, so please pardon my somewhat ridiculous questions, if they seem that way to you...................

imperiouxx, bigfrancis1, ebdib, msnas, zeezahbee, slimmy, walspring and every other guru here, Abeg make una help me lend mouth for this matter. This is for a brother of mine. What is the best advice you have for him?

It is not uncommon to find Univ. that send admission letters via email alone, but it is weird if you ask me. If the school insist that they won't send you a hard copy via regular mail (assuming this is their policy) find such policy on their website or request for it and print it out.

Also, check with the US embassy here, explain things to them that, your school will not send you a hard copy of your admission letter as per the Univ. policy, make sure you communicate the link to the policy from the univ website, or any of such.

If possible, you could request that you pay for the shipping cost, it's worth the effort.

http://college.usatoday.com/2013/04/11/should-college-acceptance-letters-be-sent-via-email/

Am assuming they won't do same for I20, because there are no two ways to that, it must be sent via regular mail or courier.

http://www.ice.gov/doclib/sevis/pdf/sevis_qa_may2009.pdf

All the best.

P. S. Alternatively, you could ask them to hold on to the admission letter for now, when it's time to send your I20(assuming they will send this via mail), then request they send it together.
Some schools also have special arrangements with courier services whereby you get heavily discounted shipping rates. Check to see if your school has this.

By the way which school are we talking about here?

Hi house, my admission notification was sent via email and was not posted to Me by mail. Hope it won't pose much concern. Was anybody's admission letter sent via email alone. Tnx as u reply.

Your school is stingy and dont have money to buy enough A4 paper to print your admission letter along side with your I-20..

Why would they send it to your email for you to print it when other school print it out and add it together with I-20..

I cant laugh here oo.. Even CC will print admission letter along side I-20

Some schools have adopted the green policy and they know the embassy accepts printed copy of admissions letter.

You can apply after seven (7) days. But you need to have an idea why you were denied in the first place. That is what we help do here.

There's no law that keeps one from re-applying to the best of my knowledge, I've seen peeps who got denied, he was lucky to fixed another appointment the next 4 days, re-applied and got visa.. I don't think there's any specific time for re-applying.. Only if your friend has been banned due to fake document or something..

Admission letter is nothing. What matters is your I-20. If your school doesn't mail out adm letters, you have nothing to worry about. Send them the financial packet and await your I-20. But ensure to take a printed copy of your adm letter to the consulate.

@ zeezahbee @juntod
The U.S probably has the most backward immigration policy for highly trained professionals in the western world.
Immigrants who jump through the border have better chances of becoming citizens than a hard working phd student who doesn't have tenure track position in a university.
Sad
