PDP-Sponsored Documentary On Buhari & My Analysis by brainbox2014(m): 11:51am On Jan 27, 2015

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0l5gQ1nC5N4

For almost about one hour or more, eyes were glued to AIT yesterday and I must confess that PDP has really tried in their campaign against the opposition. After so many shots, this looks like one final lethal blow, except of course they are not done. Who can blame them? They have enriched themselves well enough to afford the airtime.

So that aside, let's react to the gist they threw in our faces yesterday. I'd give my honest opinion by listing the (1) Bad things he did (2) Good things that he did but have been painted in a bad light (3) Good things he actually did.

Bad things

1) Jailing some 'alleged' innocent politicians.
2) Jailing journalists and activists based on a decree he enacted.
3) Stepping on human rights in a bid to enforce change. No freedom of speech. Strikes were disallowed. Unions (like NMA, NANS) were proscribed.
4) Pardoning Shehu Shagari (his former boss) as he kept him in house arrest while he jailed others.
5) Suspension of the rail project (which I later found out was due to the fact that the money being used for the project was being borrowed and he was bent on paying off Nigeria's debt)
6) Disallowing Monarchs from travelling outside the country, an act many saw as a disrespect to traditional customs.
7) Chasing away illegal immigrants. The same is still done in developed countries though. You can't just reside in places like UK, US... without formal documentations and stuff.

.(± feel free to add & subtract)

Summary: His brief military regime was a draconian rule that made life hot for many.

Good things painted bad

1) WAI: Enforcing discipline with regards to work, sanitation, conduct on roads. This was done the military way and swept Nigerians off their comfort zone.
2) His statement (as the commentary claimed to quote him, as there was actually no video of him saying that) that FG should stop killing his people (northerners) and that instead Boko Haram militants could be given amnesty like the Niger delta militants. Hold on, before you judge at surface value. Reports from Amnesty International and the satellite images that showed the devastation in Baga have collectively proved to us one thing: our soldiers killed thousands of innocent northern dwellers (some in very horrific ways) in the name of fighting insurgency. That was why US raised eyebrows about human rights violation in the North if you can still recall. So Buhari probably has a point but unfortunately the amnesty program that the FG tried didn't work. What he said, he said in good faith.
3) Attempted extradition of Umaru Dikko, one of Nigeria's most corrupt politicians as at then. The PDP in their documentary successfully painted the hilarious method through which Dikko was packaged in a suitcase that was labelled with a diplomatic pass..lol..and the embarrassment attached to the story, but here's the thing they never said...Umaru Dikko deserved to be jailed like the other thieves in his time. People steal little things and get punished severely, some even die. A public official steals billions and you empathise with him when he should have gotten a much more severe punishment. That says a lot in comparison about our justice system today.
4) Drug traffickers were killed. I don't even know why PDP are lamenting about this. In Ghana today, robbery attracts a death penalty and trust me, this law has reduced criminality there. In China, if a politician is caught looting funds or getting involved in any form of corruption, he or she will be executed. My opinion is simple, if you can't do without stealing or going against the law of the land, you can leave. You have nothing to fear if your hands are clean. PDP is simply appealing to the desire in people to be free to do as they like without laws to guide them, but we must not forget that unguided freedom comes at a cost.......CRIME!

Summary: He came to unsettle Nigerians from their relative comfort zones of indiscipline (@public places) and laziness (@work).... and this didn't really go down well with many people. Strict legislation dominates his idea of effective and progressive governance.

.(± feel free to add & subtract)

Good things

1) Jailing corrupt politicians. That's a good thing for me except you're happy when people embezzle public funds.
2) Eradication of Jihadist group (Maitatsine). We've heard that several times but a few times from his critics.

Other good things they didn't mention in the video

3) 1 dollar = 2 naira... which sparked some irritation from the West. The oyinbos felt it was annoying for the currency of a black nation to be that strong. Foreign politics played a role in his removal later on, for obvious reasons.
4) Cleared the debts of the nation and refused to borrow from IMF despite serious urging from the external community. Part of the reason the rail project was 'suspended'.
5) Nigeria was processing her crude oil...and the price was stable.
6) He's a plain person that does what he says (good or evil). I'd rather deal with plain people than the hypocrites in the incumbent government. Even his political opponents can't take that away from him.

.(± feel free to add & subtract)

Summary: He ruled roughly for about one and a half years and his major approach to transforming Nigeria from the state that the corrupt leadership of Shagari left it, was through laws. He believed that a lawless nation where people are just allowed to litter the streets, treat work with levity, loot public funds...etc., could not move forward.

That's my analysis. .(± feel free to add & subtract)

Brainbox2014,

I downloaded the documentary to analyze it fully. I can say that any intelligent minded person would support Buhari because PDP sorta did campaign for him. Meanwhile, only the gullible ones will fall for it (and sorry to say, many Nigerians are gullible because of our mentality).

They were busy ranting jail jail jail. Most times they didn't give the real reason why he jailed them.

Lots of good things were painted bad.

A real Felasopher would prefer a GMB over the clueless one despite all d maltreatment of Fela e.g Seun Kuti. Out of two evils,so to speak, you choose the lesser one. Gej has left us who voted for him in 2011 with no choice. And by the way what do you know about d 53 suitcases?

I know buhari is a man of his words so i am sure he will do all he has promised, including stablizing global oil prices.

This is because :

Buhari came out publicly and said he wont contest again, and has kept his promise in 2015.

Buhari said his documents arr with the military board, were they there?

If someone else ordered that the 53 suitcases should not be searched under buhari's regime, that person would have been sentenced to death by buhari.

Buhari said abacha did not steal. did abacha steal?

It might seem harsh but drug related offences are punishable by death in many countries especially in those Asian countries. So what are you saying?

Whereas, the execution was never carried out! Think intelligently, even in the documentary, they never said Buhari killed her only that she was sentenced.

jailing fella for foriegn currency while allowing 53 suitcases is not cool for me.

"53 suitcases suspected to contain foreign currency" C'mon man. Full details would be needed before making conclusions! Nigerians are easily used as tools of propaganda, that's our problem. I wish everyone takes his time to analyze everything and keep sentiments aside.

supporting and comapring bokoharam terrorists with mend is not cool. turning arround to accuse the president of lacking the will to crush the group u sympathize with is not cool.

Stop lying, Buhari never supported them! He compared them, yes. But aren't the militants terrorists as well? All he was trying to say was that they should use the same approach they used for the militants, simple! But as usual, people tried to paint him bad.

The hatred ghananians have for nigerians today was caused by buhari.

They were illegal immigrants! Don't you understand? Go and stay in the US or UK illegally and see if you won't be deported.

Why do you guys have so much hate towards the general? Smh.

About the man Buhari
I have never seen any school built in his name Buhari, I
have never seen any borehole constructed by him. There is
no record of any scholarship awarded by him or for him nor
through him. I have never seen him use his popularity to
canvass for any charitable work nor any humanitarian effort,
not even at the height of the polio scourge where other
purposeful and prominent leaders lead the campaign for
immunization.
No single text book has been donated to any school either
by him, for him or through him. Asides from doing nothing,
he has not improved himself since his exit from office. No
book written, no memoirs, no lectures, nothing. The only
thing of note he can point to are his numerous interviews on
the BBC Hausa station.
He never champion for a university in his state nor has he
ever been involved in any kind of programme to better the
lives of the Almajiris in Daura. His entire existence has not
led to any meaningful development in Daura, yet they say
he can change Nigeria.
Doesn't charity begin at home again? No wonder he was
referred to as being ''perpetually unelectable''. He is not a
patron to any organization, group or association. No
professional body in Nigeria has ever invited him for their
lecture, convention or gala night.
The only time any known form, body or human assemblage
ever chose him to do anything for them was when the Boko
Haram terrorist sect nominated him as their spoke person in
the proposed talks with the Fed. Govt in Saudi Arabia but he
refused. He recently joined twitter because of the election.
He recently went to church services because of elections

how can Buhari claim to be clean when his government silenced all whistleblowers?
why did Buhari ban NANS?

why did Buhari pay for a rail project he cancelled?
what did Buhari add to the Nations Infrastructure in 20 months as a dictator apart from filling up prisons with people he was scared of?
no record of roads or major development?

Just watching the poster above ^^^^^^^^^^^^^

But come to think of it this is a mere propaganda i watched the video several time, all those he jailed, fire where all been persecuted based on the rule of law back then.

Talking about the WAI, that was a great one, Nigerians to que up to enter buses or never to throw a paper nor sh.it on the street, that was a great one.. why now painting it black..

Then after IBB took over, what happened to Nigeria's corruption situation.

Good i salute and support the power of women in the society. Sometimes when it comes to a serious business especially from a man, then the women should not be put first, imagine them saying buari never go to the church meeting alongside with Fashola and Adeboye with his wife. Damm that was cheap.

PDP really need some jobs to do, as for me if i have decided to vote for Buhari then watched this propaganda, i will still go ahead and vote for him.

************************Modify*********************************
I saw so many many lies in that videos.
I am an hard core fela fan.

Fela was angry on the fact that buhari Jailed him, not because fela was traveling with some foreign currency:
Fela only came in with some foreign currency, which he was paid with for his show abroad, there was law on then on such regulation, that made fela to be persecuted based on that, in other to reduce corruption.

Fela, later released a track beast of no nation, which talked about Buahri but the only accusation he gave him was GMB, strictness on discipline matter, which to me i saw as something that would have trained Nigerians let assume they allow it to happen the way GMB did it, we wont start writing DO NOT URINATE HERE on every walls.

Damm so much lies in that video, like the photos of A soldier telling a police man to do some frog jump, that wasnt buhari's time.

Based on the missing money, it wasnt during GMB's time the track of Fela, Army Arrangement said it all. They should not cut and edit what the great fela never said. All was during Obasanjo's time

The video was so dumb and unprofessional honestly, it was a very cheap disgraceful stunt all those indomine headed opposition can come up with, now i see more reason why they signed the FOI's bill during this time..

Why talking about the death of GMB's daughter, shai this people no go kill me, what has that got to do with GMB as the presidential candidate.

I am so sure and convinced that Fayose was the brain behind the video and the oga say go ahead.

If GMB only agenda is to tackle, tries and jail corrupt officials, then we want him there.
Corruption kills the
Education Sector
Judiciary Sector
Electoral Sector
Health sector
Power Sector
Revenue Sector
Aviation Sector
and on and on....

If the above sector sit up even in fear and do there job right then there is a better Nigeria

This documentary detailed who the real Buhari and who we have been screaming about here on nairaland.

I don't know if you are fatherless or if you have one, if your father was both educated and politically savvy during Buhar's military regime, I would have suggested you consult him.

The PDP is conducting a very successful and robust campaign on behalf of General Buhari , The APC should send a cheque in appreciation

I especially love the part of Umaru Dikko, whilst many might question his methods, most Nigerians share his desire to eradicate or at least minimize corruption amongst the political class.

Nigerians are tired of Politicians embezzling billions of dollars while Nigerians are suffering and cannot find jobs. They are building houses all across the country and buying mansions abroad while Nigerians are hungry

I prefer a General Buhari who will go to any length to bring thieving politicians to justice rather than a President that consistently makes excuses for corrupt men/women in his administration.

He also accuse GEJ of not fighting corruption that we Nigerians fails to understand because of hate.

* GMB fight Corruption by imprison corrupt officials but that didn't end it

*GEJ - Fight corruption by eliminating the means in which corrupt leaders loot public fund.

GMB - Use soldiers to clamp down on traders to agree on price thereby forcing them to sale regarding either they are profiting or loosing.

GEJ - Uses Demand and Supply chain to regulate price, by making sure we reduce import and increase export to balance the economy.

GMB - Under his watch 21B was missing without his knowledge.

GEJ - Uncovers the Billions Naira being stolen under subsidy scheme and remove it so that the stealing will stop though Nigerians will suffer a little from it and that's his mistake to Nigerians that we are crucifying him.

Remember even the US has Terrorist problem and under their watch World Trade Centre was brought down, how much more Nigeria to fight Terrorist and win it easily. Shey we be super mike.
