Hi Guys,
My husband is studying in the UK and I want to apply for a visa to visit him. I am currently working and I can only possibly get 2weeks leave from the office. What type of visa should I apply for? Should I apply for the general visitor visa?
Thanks smiley

Hello @justwise,

Thanks for being here always. My mum applied for a 5 year visit visa since on the 19th of December 2014, though it got to the UK visas and immigration on the 29th dec 2014, we are yet to hear anything from them. Decision is yet to be made. Going by the submission date, it's over 40 days today, going by the day they received it, it's 30 days today. She's really worried. We have written them and they are yet to reply. What do you think is happening. Hope to read from you. Thanks

General visiting visa is more appropriate, yes you can invite the person but that person has to show a strong tie to Nigeria

Very rare, they hardly call visiting visa applicants for interview.

Were you working during your initial application and what is the difference between your salary then and now?

Hello Justwise/Vicjustice,

Please could you give me links to topics on this forum where the issue of UK/USA work permits have been discussed?

I have tried searching but it returned quite irrelevant results.

I'll appreciate it...thanks.

There is no such thing in the UK as a "Work Permit."

If you come in as a student then you can work up to 20 hours while studying.
To come to the UK for full time work
You must either qualify for permanent residency, by birth or family connections.
Or you must be a highly skilled specialist, employed by a UK company, who will then sponsor your visa.

All the information is on the UKBA websites.
