You shouldn't stop going to Church cus of the attitude of others towards Church and religion,you should go to Church for your own sake and reasons...go and serve your God not minding what the others do that you feel isn't right.

Unfortunately many Christians has got no love in their heartss.Just last year, on a Sunday afternoon, I was going to get some buckets when I saw a shoemaker lying sick on the floor,along untared road, vomiting and weak.Guess what my sister, opposite where he lay was a pharmacy. The wife of the pharmacist stood there obviously still in her church attire, smiling and making jest of this dying very young hausa shoemaker. I felt terribly bad.I took the money I had with me to get him some drugs. When I inquired about a specific malaria/Typhoid drugs, she told me she doesn't have it.She went on to tell me to leave the boy alone, that those hausa boys are too ignorant to help themselves.I finally went to town to get good drugs for him and till today, he still knocks on my door to say thank you.Sometimes when I see the wickedness of people to others who are in need I always ask,"what is the essence of living, when you can't make a positive impact on people's lives?"Why will you donate 20 million to the church when your gate man is on a 15k salary with no allowance? What is the essence of trying to sleep with a young woman in need first before you can release that peanuts you call money? Or the idea of a young man coming to you for job, you can help him, but you choose to buy him more alcoholic drinks over and over again to frustrate his already frustrated life.Truth be told,our society is void of neighbourly love . Unfortunately, our churches are filled with wicked hypocrites.Proud selfish and wicked hypocrites.

Religion is not the problem. The problem is human. With or without religion we will still harm our neighbours. I can easily blame the status and the slave mentality of the black race on Christianity, I can blame the crusade on the Catholics, I can blame the English civil war on Christianity and I can blame Islam for the actions of the beasts in human form in Middle East and Africa. But I will be stupid and unreasonable to do that because of these truisms:

Humans are angels
Humans are devils
and humans are neither angels nor devils.

Religion is a mere cloak, it provides the perfect foundation to express our psychopathic tendencies. It is like case of an abuser, with the fierce need to abuse his victim would scrutinise every action of his victim before descending on him/her. The so called fanatics already possess the devilish tendencies then comes in religion to solidify it.

What happened in Rwandan , was it because of religion? what about in India? Ibadan v Ekiti war, Holocaust? ISIS? Pogrom? Slave Trade? the Roman wars?

They were all situations of a few psychos controlling a larger group of people who obviously either have nothing going on for them or have that strong need to blame a particular people for the woes. Unfortunately these group share a certain characteristics which they believe is their strongest bond.

Wars have been fought before the industrial age, and most of which had nothing to do with religion. Abolish religion today, we will still have people with subjective ideologies who would hate others because of what they have in common.

The Philosophy of man and his relations with other men is that simple

When the Bible say love your neighbours as yourself, it was capitalising on human nature. That is if men are left on their own without rules (now we have the constitution as our guiding tool) they display that beast in them without reservation.

And about your Quranic teacher, he would not have touched you if he did not have the implied permission form your guardians. I stopped going to my second modirasah because he was scary. My dad backed me up but my mum did not, guess who won? My great-grandpa, an Islamic scholar stopped my uncle from attending Islamic classes when they would not stop flogging him. Therefore your teacher is blameless

I just do not know how to convince you, my entire family are Moslems, home and abroad. My best friends from childhood are Moslems. I just don't like religion the way I see it being practised out here , I wish we can preach more of peace than of religion.

Okay. I am really not biased. You can see I did not also spare the so called 'Christians' who only become good on Sundays but live every other day like God only comes to town on Sundays only.

You're right. But what I don't get is people treating me like an unbeliever because I don't go to church. These are people who have premarital sex & fight & lie all week.
