crackhaus: Says who? How skin tone is skin deep to you is how tribalism would be skin deep to them crackhaus: Nigerian prefer lighter skinned however, it is just that. It has not grown to a cause for worry yet. crackhaus: Says? |

Setaje:It really doesn't matter, madam. If the woman is bleaching her daughter, it's for her own benefit(read: ego) not her daughter's. That woman has been possessed by the demon of low self-esteem and needs deliverance. I favour dark skinned women but will quickly chat up a good-looking light-skinned woman. Anybody who has to lighten their skin to look beautiful has self-esteem issues. It's not the fault of the world. Just because people love and respect rich people inordinately doesn't justify a life of crime. |

Timbuktou: I said that is the activist's problem with Kendrick. If he left his light skinned babe for a dark skinned one, it would be an issue for me. because Kendrick favours dark black doesn't mean he can't get it on with light black True however we need to understand if he was saying 'dark black is also cool' or 'dark black is the only cool' I would not fault him for getting on with light skinned, she came first; I will fault his message |

Setaje: Setaje say it loud and clear. Black men will lie and lie they don't have any colorism issue, but we know the truth. If we as Nigerians were concerned about race, Nigerian women would have done worse than AA women. Can Victor Olaiya release Omo pupa in an AA community and not get a back lash from the women? I remember delta soap creating a calendar and all the women were light skinned. As a Nigerian child then, I did not even notice any conscious effort to have only light people on the calendar in a COUNTRY POPULATED BY DARK SKINNED PEOPLE . It was a marketing tactic to tell women that if you use delta soap your skin will be light. Mind you delta soap is not a bleaching agent, but it preyed on what the society considered as beautiful. 4 Likes |

Timbuktou: 8 and above for me. the face of my partner must constantly stir my sėx drive. the curves & the whatnot is secondary to me. Stillfire: victor olaiya doesn't speak for every black man. he just sang about his preference - just like most women wouldn't date a vertically challenged man. it's just his preference. |

bukatyne:Kendrick loves black, either light or dark. And he's chosen loyalty over all else and I respect that. However, even if he left the black community and ventured into mulatto, yellow or white, I wouldn't have been the least bit bothered. Because, one can love something and find that the thing isn't a pragmatic element to their existence. It's that simple to me. |

pickabeau1: True Although colour is not a "prime directive" for me, there are undoubtedly serious pathologies in some black communities and nations. And as such co-opting "alien" notions does not necessarily help if not done smartly and with - dare I say it - proper "consciousness. My main thrust - as ever - is always to exhort men to stand. TV |

Chai see how you people have finished us darkies on this thread. take it easy on us naa. But stillfire is correct though on how black people see lighter skinned people as ' finer' .God knows how many people I have had to shut up from saying my son is cuter than my daughter ( I don't want all those kain inferiority complex inducing talks around my child ). Even me ,I get from supposedly educated people o ' I thought you would be lighter now that you live in the UK' #teamdarkiesarebeautiful That said one can't choose who another person will have a preference for. That's why it's called choice. |
Re: Black Woman Discriminating Against Light Skinned Women by tpiadotcom: 3:11pm On Apr 08, 2015 |
Stillfire: if there is constant pressure on blacks to lighten their skin, that should tell you there is not necessarily an overall preference for light skin. |

coogar: If there were means to increase in height, men would. Men do everything within their power to increase pe.nis size to make themselves more attractive to their mates. Is it not you nigerian men I saw in one video changing the color of their lips to pink because Nigerian women like pink lips. Buhahaha. The thing about Victor Olaiya is that it would not have been ignored in the AA community instead Nigerian women shook their big butts to it and bleached. Anyway, black women give up. Let the men enjoy. You can't be putting yourselves out there for ridicule. 2 Likes |

A friend of mine blotted one statement when we were arguing on this same issue. She said she prays her daughters will not take her husband's dark colour. They should be fair so they can sell market. I guess she married her dark skinned husband because of husband shortage? No light skin guys proposed to her? |
Re: Black Woman Discriminating Against Light Skinned Women by TV01(m): 3:13pm On Apr 08, 2015 |
Stillfire:No Stilly, not a yardstick - just one measure And it does not necessarily dictate overall preference for many men - even amongst those that may have it as one indicator. A darker skinned women who presents well will not be unduly hindered by her skin tone - if Rashida was woo'ed by a white man - I know, fat chance (and again ) - would she be duty /ideologically bound to reject him? We don't abuse "our women" - we correct them in love TV |

Re: Black Woman Discriminating Against Light Skinned Women by Nobody: 3:19pm On Apr 08, 2015 |
njokusboy: (1.) At its core, womanism rejects feminism because it is set up in a way as to promote the issues of white women over the issues of Black women. Hudson-Weems argues that feminism will never be okay for black women due to the implications of slavery and prejudice. She further asserts that the relationship between a Black man and a Black woman is significantly different from the relationship between a White man and a White woman, because the white woman battles the white man for subjugating her, but the black women battles all oppressive forces that subjugate her, her children, and the black man. She further asserts that racism forced African-American men and African-American women to assume unconventional gender roles. In this context, the desire of mainstream feminism to dismantle traditional gender roles becomes inapplicable to the black experience. Womanism is an ideology designed specifically with women of African descent in mind. It is grounded in African culture and focuses on the unique struggles, needs, and desires of African women. Based on this reasoning, Africana Womanism posits race and class based oppression as far more significant than gender-based oppression. Womanism is not a subset of feminism just the same way MRM (Men's Right Movement) is not a subset of feminism! (2.)OMG! Please tell me that you're not arguing with me that there is no white privilege or light skin privilege? Please tell me you're not that fvcking blind/ignorant? 3 Likes |

Re: Black Woman Discriminating Against Light Skinned Women by crackhaus: 3:21pm On Apr 08, 2015 |
bukatyne:Lol, there's just no correlation between what tribalism is to us as a reference for what skin tone is to them. The best correlation should be racism as against tribalism. My point is this, the dark-skin AA woman is also hating on the light-skin AA woman - this is her vanity at work, borne out of her dwindling esteem and self-hate. Nigerian prefer lighter skinned however, it is just that. It has not grown to a cause for worry yet.It has not grown to a cause for worry because one dark Nigerian woman has not gone on the internet to voice her displeasure? Well she doesn't have to, because the bleaching and use of skin-whitening/lightening creams by majority of Nigerian women is enough proof that they're worried. Says?Says me. |

damiso:...how far Dami? One of the minor reasons I kinda wanted a second son was because my boy is so cute, I didn't think we'd be so blessed again and I figured a not so handsome man can always compensate in other ways. We also "agreed" that if it was per chance a girl, it should look like her mum. Any girl that looks like me go suffer - no matter how light skinned . Funnily enough, she's a stunner - yes I know, I have to say that - looks similar to her brother, and the real surprise; she's quite light skinned? Let me just call madam to make sure she keeps her out of the sun ! TV |

You wonder why we Africans and all the black race in the world is languishing in poverty. Inferiority complex and hating yourself. Have you seen if white people have this issues especially considering some are pale some are dark and all tints of white. Poverty for sure is a mental disease. 3 Likes |
