Every car has its issues but the issues do not become problematic if given timely and periodic attention as required.

Forget fuel efficiency with v6. If it matters, go buy 4 plugs instead.

Maintenance is simple, regular oil change, spark plugs cleaning/replacement, air filter change (I do line every 3 to 4 months) because I travel a lot.

Leg issues, change ball joint at intervals of let's say 3 months max if you ply a rugged terrain daily or like 6 months if you ply a tarred road daily but if you can get oem ball joint from UsA then you won't have to change it for a long time.

Naija used: get a scanner. Make sure you scan for engine and tranny errors.

Test drive on federal road. Switch between slow and high speed to observe smoothness of gear change.

If there's delay or you hear thud or bang on gear change. If the tail pipe emits white smoke then run.

I'm sure other egbons here have more to add.
thanks bro. I dont do much movement so i guess the v6 wont be a problem. But overall its a good car yeah?

If you do not do much driving then you might do away with the v6 since city drive itself will likely make you spend much on fuel.

Yes it is but it depends on your maintenance culture.

Do a full scan before purchase.

have you worked on 2005 hybrid, the risk will make you collect 10k. before you access the tank cover, you have to disconnect the hybrid battery. the first f**king MECH destroyed my cover and my fuel come dey leak and could not access the gauge. this guy did it for the first time in his career took the risk, corrected the abnormally caused by the first guy and charged me for it. I just change the compressor of the car for 60k and ordinary compressor Na 30k or less. all cars aren't the same. lol

How much be fuel guage nah?

most time when I completely replace something in my car, it does not work properly, that was why I prefer working on the original that came with the car. I once changed my callipers, o boy the problem no be here I had to work on the old one and started working OK. the problems is you may not get the right one when you completely replace a part. you have seen ppl complaining about parts changed in their cars on this trend.

you mean you change Ur ball joint even without signs that it has started failing? I just changed my ball joint when it gave the sign. the reason why ppl think legs just pull off without sign is Becos thy want to hear real noise. when the sign (stiff steering) comes it will disappear and come after a long time and God help you that may be the time it falls off. when mine came I parked the car and started it again and it disappeared for another two weeks. when it came again I parked again and started it and it disappear. At that point in time I knew I was playing with God. I just drove straight to the workshop.

I definitely listen for squeaks and metal groans when driving as well as turn the steering to the extreme and inspect the ball joints at the arms.

I also change at those intervals because most times, these joints do not make any sound or show any signs of wear - they just pull out.

To save myself from the crisis, I swap them at intervals.

The new one (Chinese) goes for about 4k.

The tokunbo goes for about 1500

The latter lasts longer.

This is a wonderful thread!

I bought a v6 toks accord 06 model a month ago & during the first servicing an engine oil other than the 5w20 recommended by d manufacturer was used (I believe 20w50 was used) . Only realised when I went through the manual. Now my question is what can be done? Do I revert back to d recommended asap or wait till my next oil change. Another question is where do I get the said oil as all my search in benin city has not yielded result & how many litres do I need? Thanks

Yeah, that was the first thing my mechanic did, he drained the ATF completely and put a new one(wasn't ABRO, I can't quite remember the name now ) but still, there was no improvement. But could it be the gear box swicth you talked about. Many thanks for the response
My Honda 1999 always jerk when on motion on final break.
Pls advise

I am interested in the Mobil 1 (5w20). Where is it on sale?

On the contrary, I think you can wait until the oil life is spent out, then replace with 5w20 at next oil drain.
The 20w50 you used is most likely mineral oil, while the Mobil 1 (5w20) is synthetic. Some people have reported increased incidence of engine gasket leaks, attributed to switching from mineral oil to synthetic and vice versa, but certainly none reported after just one episode of mineral oil use.
Hope you enjoy your new ride.

Cheers!

My 99 honda baby boy vibrates when reversing.
The vibration increases when I put on the A/C.
What is the cause? And what is the solution house?
