If with the male friends you have, you still show this kind of reasoning about guys, you need to change them.

Those male friends you have, maybe that FT guy, they are females in male clothings. Go find males in male clothings
Fvck your screwed African definition of a man.

We are not discussing his earthly gender but heavenly.

He had to take the flesh of man to exist which tells he was never of any gender before.

why didnt he take the form of a woman with breast and probably menstruate?

And choose 12 women as disciple?
When myfather was alive he was a "male"
now he is dead,'does it mean he's nw genderless cos he's now a spirit

God is a spirit,he came in the form of man and went back to heaven in the form of man

whatever form you take in the spirit thats what will manifest in the physical

elijah and enoch were taken up into heaven and from what you are saying they are nw genderless because they are nw spirits?

Please spend more time to read the word of God so that you can know who God is

I don't know about any other place. I'm just saying for the place I know. Which is my hometown. If it is not sexist what is it? Besides you can't overlook the unhealthy tension and pressure it puts on ladies to get married. Anything flies because of that.

@bold really?
I can't think of any derisive slang in my language that is used to mock single men over 30. None. If someone knows, let them enlighten me.
I don't see any single guy being called old cargo because of his status. Of course the parents may stress the point of marriage to him because they want grandkids but no one makes him believe is value as human is diminished because he's single.

Why are you guys even arguing with me over something that is clear like day?. Who are those running 'helter skelter' looking for husband in all the odd places if not single ladies. Why? Could it because they are put under more pressure and made to feel less worthy than their single brothers?

If the level of disdain for unmarried women is same as that for unmarried men, why aren't we seeing the effects on the single guys?

This is why I always say this feminism movement is a rebellious move against God & nature...

U as a lady should know why parents put more pressure on a girl child. Menopause is no respecter of persons but age, & a woman's beauty dissipates with age, that is why this old cargo of a thing is associated with women. Men don't have any health condition restraining them from being productive at any age, but this doesn't apply to women.

So u can see why the pressure is more on a girl child, it's for her own good. U can't be wiser than ur mum..

I know of a man in my neighbourhood who got married to a young lady at the age of 70, she's likely to be the third wife, the girl gave birth recently, his age didn't detract from his potency, but does this apply to a woman?

of course.

Anyone who doesn't agree with the bullshit flying around does in your eyes.its harder to admit it. The easiest way out is to call the person man-hater or something like that.

Cococandy says a woman doesn't need to be married to have dignity= she has unhealthy view of men. We know that's how it works undecided
it wont kill you to admit to some certain truths? Ugwu nwanyi bu di ya might be bullshit to you but my point exactly, (1) that adage wasnt made to demean women who dont have men.but for couples already in marriages.true its been used out of context but the creation of that adage had noble intentions.the creation of that rich african cultural adage which you call "bullshit"is what has held families such as yours.you dont recognise the headship of a man in your new home, fine! Atleast your mother did.but you using the adage as an example in that way made it so sort of extreemly patriarchal and defeated its good intentions.i know how hard you are trying now to embrace the west.your new found love.but i will never let you insult the igbo heritage.you dont know how much you reveal by the comments you make and the ones you dont.i mainly read on nairaland but we men notice some hateful comments you make that sets you out as having personal vendatta with men.you ignored a comment i made about men being disrespected and made not worthy of diginity in there families because they are unable to get a woman and are dealing with there own biological clock.men are equally desperate.but ah! you dont want to accept this kind of truth.

Classic case of sexism. Why can't a woman give birth at 90 if she wanted to? It's not fair, and men are to blame. grin grin

Inferiority and superiority, when used between genders in some context can be derogatory.

On the issue of accessories, both genders can be accessories to each other.

The original idea of feminism is to champion the cause of equal opportunities and rights for women. These opportunities extends to both political and social roles. However, in a family, the idea of equal opportunities on who heads a family should not be questioned or debated. It is customary for a man to be the head of a family. That does not mean that in some situations or circumstances, a woman cannot a assume leadership role.

The labels superior and inferior are indeed derogatory. Since a woman can not govern the most basic unit of society, she is neither expected to Lord over larger social units. That kind of disqualifies her for lack of experience grin .

Although it is customary for the husband to take the alpha role but i think a marriage as a form of friendship and partnership with mutual respect and loyalty exchanged between is more healthy. Rather than have a man virtually lording over another person.

Another problem is how romanticized the traditional marriage arrangement has been made to look. The husband guards but governs the wife. The wife out of her deepseated lack of self and weakness, is graceful for the security and submits herself. But in reality, the governance by the man is not always pleasurable.

I heard some feminist are advocating for the stop of menstruation, they term it as sexism, since men don't menstruate. They say it's either both gender menstruate or both don't. But how they intend to achieve this, is what I don't know.

Perhaps they are already working on a drug that will stop menstrual flow.

I know I can't be the only one sick of all these feminism crap threads on NL? What is the problem with women? If you have a man that displays the classic so called "african slave mentality" in a relationship in which he wants to own and control your life since he considers you his property, then you go and find one that would be supportive of your independence and would also be a willing partner throughout your remaining life! Why do most people start referring to culture, parents, ethnic group as justification of why feminism is necessary or not? Are your names SOCIETY? This so called feminism is just REAL life to so many other people in this world! Who cares if a woman is married or not? Or does not want kids or a man or not? Or wants to Abort as she likes, Or wants to work in a construction site as a labourer? Women already do these sort of things because its HOW they want to live their LIFE and some of them have bills to PAY, not because of what one comfortable igbo girl sitting in yankee is writing in order to promote her literary works and earn CASH! As for equal pay yes women deserve it but that is a trade issue! N.l.c also has female members on the board, why can't they push harder for parity? Female house of reps and senate members nkor? Why can't they collabo and push for an equal parity bill? How is it MY FAULT that some women are payed less money so me and all men are now classified as "anti feminist"! Everyone deserved the life they have, if you don't like it, it is left for you to try and change it!

5. But in reality, the governance by the man is not always pleasurable.

1. The traditional marriage arrangement has been de-romanticised by the feminist machinery. After all, submission is evil, isn't it?

2. That's true of the traditional marriage arrangement, and feminism will see to it that that system is replaced by equalism.

3. More out of her nature and instincts than anything else. Look at Oprah and Hillary, they either got the top gun or didn't marry at all. Women, no matter how highly placed, want an even higher placed man to pair with/ submit to. That's the fact that you women somehow want us to ignore. Where a man wouldn't mind catering for an unemployed, no-money-earning woman, a woman would display no such magnanimity.

4. That's the system that works. Why should I be equal to someone who benefits from my resources and wouldn't be with me if I had lower status? Nearly all women marry for money, if their spouse was broke at the time of marriage, he had a potential to grow into money, it's a calculation women consciously make. The woman better be darn grateful for the perils the man faces to keep her safe, secure and comfortable.

5. Doesn't mean the system is flawed. Blame that on the practitioners, and make laws to preserve the system instead.

Calvary greetings, brother. I bring ye the good news that women do not earn less than men in Nigeria, and I dare any feminist to prove that I'm lying. If Coogar would be so kind to give you some pointers, the system these feminists use in arriving at this conclusion is fraudulent and evil.

I repeat, there is no establishment in Nigeria that pays a woman less than a male equal on the basis of gender. The only disparities that may arise are so because of the negotiating power/savvy of employees concerned. Which also translates to women earning more than some male colleagues of theirs. Certainly not a gender/sex issue. wink

All these arguments about the name God being masculine is trash.
English Language is too ambiguous and meanwhile, bible wasn't written in it, hence can't used as a yardstick.

Old testament - was written in Hebrew and the name used there, is YAHWEH which denotes no gender.
New testament - was written in Greek and the name used there, is THEOTOKOS which has no gender alignment.

Just as in Igbo and Yoruba, the name Olodumare/Oluwa and Chukwu has no gender and can be used in naming both male and female likewise.
The name "God"(English) is ambiguous and doesn't depict any gender.

The bigger irony in traditional marriages, is there is no check for abuse. Men (of whom, many are not natural leaders) are taught to love. Whatever lessons of love have to be artificial since you can neither teach nor command love.

Do women have equal opportunities? Equal pay? For equal opportunities no. For equal pay, Nigerian labour market is not that formalized nor data heavy, if there was such disparity, there isn't the data to find that. Neither can you say there is no disparity for the same reason.

First of all, we are talking about equal pay for the same job; in Nigeria, there's no disparity on that modality. None. Again, none.

Per equal opportunity, I'm interested in facts pointing out the opportunities men have that women don't. Since, according to you, NLM is neither formalised nor data heavy, I would like one story from any female who has been denied the opportunity to pursue their dreams or interests for the sake of their gender.
