I was amazed when I say 10days. 5 days visit sounds better coz the hotel bills and living expenses wud reduce. Then again flight shud cost more than 2 months of his salary. It may be better if he chooses a month when the rates are low,For Sept, when I was looking thru wakanow, I saw Iberia Air for like 138k, cnt remember the date, Royal Air Maroc shud be lesser. Also hotel prices shud be cheaper dat month (I suppose). Summer time is expensive

Justwise, what if he adds how much the sponsor will give to him? Also does poster have travel history?

You don't have the money and can't be sponsored...that is the problem you have

Neither is good or bad it's all about you meeting the visa requirements.

Hi Justwise and co, I would really appreciate some help on the following issue:

I’ll be traveling to the UK in September to start a 1yr MSc program; I would like my wife and 2 kids to visit me for about 10 days during the Christmas and New Year holidays.
We’ve budgeted about 1.1 Mill for the trip:
Travel costs for 1 adult+ 2kids: 580,000
Accommodation: 350,000
Feeding and shopping: 200,000

My wife will make the application for the UK visitor’s visa in October, for herself and the 2 kids:
Her circumstances are as follows:

She has been working with a national NGO for about 5yrs.
She has a valid 2yr US visa
Salary after tax: 300K
Salary account will have a balance by October of: 2.3 mill
Savings account (in her name): about 1Mill (the account was opened about a yr ago and since then there has been no significant inflow or outflow)
Her salary account doesn’t have much outflow as per expenditure as I’m responsible for monthly expenses (When I Leave for the UK in September she will start having regular monthly expenditure).
My circumstance:
I am starting an MSc in the UK in September, after I resume I will be inviting my wife and kids to the UK.
I have paid my school tuition in full and I have a tier 4 visa.
Presently I am working but I will resign in early August.
My salary account has a balance of 6.85 mill (which includes my maintenance funds while in the UK, since I’m not going to be in London it comes to about 820x12months=9840GBP roughly about 3mill naira).
This means I have a balance of about 3.8mill after deducting my living expense.

Please consider the following options:

Option A:
I transfer the cost for the trip (1.1Mill) into her account and she will explain while applying for the visa on the blank space for ‘any other information to be considered as part of the application’ where the lump sum is coming from: The explanation would be I am sponsoring the trip as her husband I think this would be acceptable.. I would also be named as the sponsor in the visa application….What do you think? In this case would I need to provide 6 months bank statements, and payslips? Remember that I would have resigned in August and she’d be applying for the visa in October, this means I would be able to give her payslips from April to July I wouldn’t have any slips for August and September…..

Option B
She applies for the visa using both her own statements of account (salary and savings)…. And she indicates she will be responsible for the cost of the trip in the visa application…

Which one do you find most suitable? do you have any other option as to how to go about applying for the visa considering our circumstances I’m open to suggestions..
Thanks! smiley

Good afternoon all,

Visa Refusal :

I have Indefinite leave to remain and my ex husband is a British citizen .

We had 2 kids together and they were born In Nigeria and they have lived all there life in Nigeria . Aged 8 and 6 respectively .

We applied for a 6 months visiting visa for the kids and they were refused .

We stated in the application that the children will return to Nigeria at the end of a 5 weeks holiday and that in the near future we have the intention of bringing them permanently to the UK.

The application was refused and We are not given any right of appeal and no administrative review .

The only reason for the refusal is "Due to your aim to also want to settle in the UK , I am not satisfied that you are intending to visit the UK for a short time as stated"
"I am not satisfied that you meet all of the requirement of paragraph 4.2 (a) and (b) and 4.11 of appendix V . "

Ques:

1.What are the kids chances if I reapply straight away to reiterate that the kids will return to Nigeria.

2. Do I have to apply for settlement visa for the kids despite the fact that our intention at this moment is just for the kids to visit for Summer holiday ?

Pls guys , I look fwd to Ur advice on how to go about it .

But why did you state in the application that in the near future we have the intention of bringing them permanently to the UK"
That alone is a case for the you and your kids.... I am sorry to say that your intention was the reason why you were refused and it could affect your subsequent applications. My Opinion.

If you had not mention anything about ur Future plans, I am 90% sure that your children would have been granted 6months visas.. Dont mis-quote me, I have not asked you to lie cos any form of deception might lead to 10yrs ban, Everyone on here knows that.. But my advise for you is to re-apply maybe next term and do not mention anything about your future plans, Just let them know they are coming to spend their holiday with you and upon completion of holiday they are returning home to resume school, SIMPLE as a,b,c. Infact, I know of over 7 families that travels to the UK on regular basis to spend their holiday with either of their parent. Thats my own little opinion.... Over to our bosses ....Justwise Vic- and others..

why is she in pain

schengen requirements are clear cut
1)confirmed hotel reservation
2)confirmed return ticket
3)confirmed travel insurance

your sister didnt have a confirmed return ticket (fully paid for) before applying, so why is she shocked at her refusal

I'm afraid you've gotten yourself into a pickle because of the above in bold. You applied for a Visitor's Visa and then indicated your intention to re-settle your children. With the anti-immigration sandstorm bashing Europe, I'm not surprised at the VO's response. They probably believe the children will simply disappear into the system once they arrive.

'Truth' is an expensive virtue; be ready for the results.

If you re-apply straight away for another visitor's visa, the embassy will simply dial good ol' George in the Records Dept. He'll dig out your old application from his archives and they'll notice the irregularity in intent (a.k.a lies). You know what they do to those who have 'irregularities' grin

All the best

The return ticket has to be paid for as no airline will "reserve" an unpaid ticket for a week or more. The maximum period the flight reservation will be kept on hold is usually 72hours. You might not get a full refund or nothing at all if you cancel the airline reservation later. That's the risk that comes with schengen visa applications.

You do not have to pay for the hotel reservation. As long as the room is reserved for you throughout the period your application will be with the French consulate, that's all that matters. Go to www.booking.com. You will be able to search, choose and reserve a hotel without paying a dime prior to your arrival at the hotel.

Read all the requirements for a visa from the French consulate's website. There is a checklist. Just make sure you provide everything listed on the checklist that's applicable to your circumstances. If you can do that, the visa is almost guaranteed.

OLANIJA:

"Wisdom is profitable to direct".

There's no section on the visa form where you were asked about your future plans for your kids. So why bring it up? Your application was for a tourist visa so any talk on settlement shouldn't even spring up.

As the children are minors and you have ILR, while their dad is a british citizen, the entry clearance officer is fully aware that you can settle them in the UK using a "cheaper/smarter route" - by applying for a 6months visiting visa for them. Hence, the outright refusal.

Your application was for a visit visa and the requirements are pretty straight forward. One of the main requirements the applicants must fulfil is their intention to return to Nigeria at the end of their visit.

You stating that you had plans to have them settle in the UK in the "future". The keyword here is "future" and it means a lot. "Future" can be tomorrow. "Future" can be the very minute the set into the UK with the tourist visa. "Future" can mean before the expirty of their tourist visa. "Future" can mean 5 years from now.

What you should have stressed clearly in your application is the fact that the kids were returning to nigeria and also prove their strong ties to nigeria. You should have also said that you had no plans to enrol them in a school in the UK, etc.

I will suggest you apply again or better still, just sort out their dependant visas. They are not too far off from the cut off age of 18years, so they earlier you apply for them and get it done with, the better. Don't know your relationship with their dad, but he might be in a better position to sort the kids out since he is already a Brit rather than waiting for you to apply for your own British passport.
