Criticism is allowed. They're only two major cities in Enugu state even in the colonial period thus, Enugu and Nsukka. Nsukka is also a major city in Igboland and at such the level of development in that region should be relatively high. Let's be sincere with ourselves. Nsukka deserve more.

and I always agreed they deserve more

It amazes me how you keep mixing up these things, I have corrected you before. Nsukka has a lot of meaning, so the context it's used gives it, its meaning. To you, once Nsukka is mentioned it means Nsukka senatorial zone. There's Nsukka as a town, Nsukka as senatorial zone...technically, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi is not from Nsukka. People loosely say they are from Nsukka, even tho' they are from say Obollo afor, is because people of Nsukka senatorial zone has the same culture and the same ancesteral root. Since my explanations are not enough, let me clear you with this article from website:

Nsukka is a town and Local Government Area in South-East Nigeria in Enugu State. Towns that share a common border with Nsukka, are Edem Ani, Alor-uno, Opi, Orba and Ede-Oballa, Obimo. Other nearby towns include Enugu Ezike, Obollo-Afor (formerly centre of the palm oil trade), Nimbo, Adani, Uzo Uwani and Mkpologwu, now also lay claim to the name Nsukka. This is because they all collectively fall into the political zoning system in Nigeria known as Senatorial Zone. As of 2007 Nsukka Cultural Zone had an estimated population of 1,377,001. Nsukka Town is known as the site of the University of Nigeria, the first indigenous Nigerian university, founded by Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe, first President of Nigeria. Currently the town has a number of Federal Parastatals in the university such as NABDA, CBSS, and the Energy Research Centre.

According to Benjamin Chinweike Ezema (now called Ezemmah) Nsukka is a town that is made up of three prominent communities, namely the Nkpunanor community, the Ihe n'Owerre community and the Nru community. Oral history has it that Nsukka has very close ties with three other neighbouring towns: Obukpa, Okpuje and Eha, which are said to have common ancestral origins. Nsukka, Obukpa, and Okpuje are siblings of Asadu Ideke Alumona; while the last - Eha is a patrilineal brother of the other three relations. The town is therefore called "Eha-Alumona".

Here we go:
1: Organize a group of volunteers preferably, about four young men, who will start up with you and help you with this task.
2: You can start off from your own neighborhood, by cleaning out the streets and planting beautiful flowers and trees along them.
3: Graduate from your own street to the surrounding neighborhoods.
4: By now, your reputation would have started growing in your area. It is very important that you clean up and beautify the neighborhoods so much so, that people would be really impressed with your excellent work.
5: Then begin to go from house to house and let them know you would like to take out their trash for them, every week for a little amount of money, probably 50 naira per week.
6: Note down the houses that take you up on your offer, and deliver quality trash bags to them.
7: At the end of every week, you Go from house to house and basically take out their trash.
8: As more and more people start getting to know about you, you can expand into so many other neighborhoods. You clean up, beautify their streets, and take out their trash every week for a little fee. It's that simple.
9: By now, you would have registered your company as a cleaning and landscape gardening company. You would also be needing more and more employees for you booming business.
10: Depending on the quality of your work (I keep harping on that), the state government could even employ your services on a larger scale. Before you know it, you would have grown your business into a multi million Naira company.
Note: Try to have a uniform for the staff you will start this venture with. Secondly, you have to start doing this for free, before you graduate into charging people for your services. Thirdly, you have to be someone that doesn't mind getting involved in something people may consider a menial/dirty job. So, if you are on the proud or pompous side, then this job is probably not for you.
So let me know if you are willing to venture into this and you will see yourself turning trash into cool money (ego julu oyi).
Oh and by the way, thanks for the compliment.

1. To get back control of oil wealth from local companies.
Here is what is happening behind the scene: For political reason, the West dont want to risk having Nigerdelta oil wealth in the hands of Southern companies. More wealth in the hands of Southern elites means more independent minded and stronger politicians. They would rather have the Wealth under the control of their Loyal Northern and few loyal Southern elites. They did this in Rwanda, India and many countries; the loyal tribes get to control the economy of their countries even if they are incapable. These experiement failed in Gambia,Congo etc .

2. She was the mugabe of Nigerias oil sector who literally "grabbed" companies belonging West and handed them to "traitorous" locals.

3. Did she really steal from the government? I strongly doubt she stole or recieved bribes but there is the possiblility of recieving "gifts". So I doubt she will ever be found guilty of "Corruption" in nigeria's context

3. So why is she being accused of stealing ? Two reasons:
4. Vicious Propaganda: this is one of the quickest ways the West uses in bringing down "corrupt/evil" leaders without firing any shot. Constantly accusing them of being corrupt in other to lose public sympathy whether they are corrupt or not.
5. to serve as deterent to would be mugba in Nigeria oil

Here is what i think will happen during Deziani trial:
Most of the owners of the Southern companies will be forced pledge allegiance to the foreign companies and Buhari, those who refuse will be accuse of corruption and have their lience withdrawn

One of the great benefits of being a coastal nation is the opportunity to have seaports which creates a lot of economic opportunities, far more than would be available to land-locked countries.

This is because long before air travel and even till date, having access to sea means access to take part in international trade in a big capacity.

Nigeria is blessed with a coastline of 853km, ranking it 92 in the world by length of coastline has taken a decent effort at turning this blessing into an economic opportunity, with six port complexes built along it – the Apapa and Tin Can Island Ports in Lagos; Rivers; Delta; Calabar and Onne Port complexes. Obviously, the ports in Lagos are the two busiest ports, serving as the economic door into the nation. The bulk of imports and exports of Nigeria go through the port, so much that it is not out of place to forget that other ports exist.

The implication of this is that it has contributed to the overcrowding and chaotic nature of the traffic and environment of the city of Lagos, as businesses that are dependent on shipping activities try to be situated as close to the city or within it as possible. Also, it has increases the cost of business for many importers and exporters, having to transport their goods from or to Lagos.

It has also contributed to the wear and tear of our roads in the absence of an efficient rail system, as containers are transported by land over long distances; this is not to mention the numerous cases of road mishaps involving trailers and containers.

Without doubt, there is plenty of room for more ports in Nigeria, especially deep seaports that are at least 30 feet deep (regular ports are about 20 feet deep), which will allow very large and heavily loaded ships to make use of it. Of course, the larger the ships, the more containers can be loaded unto it, which saves cost in the end.

One region that will be an excellent site for the siting of a deep seaport will be the South-South region, and for all the right reasons:

First, a deep seaport in the region can serve not just the South-South region, but also the South-East which hosts a large number of importers and exporters who have to bear the costs of transporting their goods all the way to and from Lagos. If the deep seaport is connected to the Port-Harcourt – Maiduguri rail line which is under improvement, the port will also make it easier for importers and exporters in many parts of the North-Central and the North-West.

Not only that, such a port will create a new economic corridor connecting the North East and parts of the North-Central to the South-East and South-South, thus reducing the pressure on Lagos and stimulating economic activities and development along the new corridor.

A deep seaport in the South-South will also be a boost to our offshore economic activities and be able to have impact in the entire Gulf of Guinea, impacting deep offshore operations even as far as Angola.

The Akwa Ibom State government during the immediate past administration of Governor Godswill Akpabio initiated the Ibaka Deep Seaport Project which with a depth of about 49 – 54 feet without dredging with a completion date set for 2015. The project, which is also hoping that its being situated in the oil-producing South-South will spur the establishment of petrochemical industries and refineries around the complex for easy export will also have hotels and a dockyard/watercraft repair facilities.

However, the end of 2015 is in sight and the port is far from being completed. It is time that the Federal Government to show support in every manner possible to the project in order to expedite its completion as it is too important to let it be subject to the efforts of only one state.

The involvement of the Federal Government will help to hasten the completion of the project, as it could prove strategic to the desire of the Buhari administration to spread wealth and create economic opportunities across the country.

Lastly, it will also score a vital political point that the administration will not forget the region which largely voted for former President Goodluck Jonathan, considering how impactful the project will be on the area.

Link-bridge collapses in Enugu

A HANGING bridge at Ikem in Isi-Uzo Local Council of Enugu State collapsed yesterday.

Although no life was lost, but the bridge which connects five communities, other local councils as well as Ebonyi and Benue States has cut off the commuters motorists and other road users.

http://www.ngrguardiannews.com/2015/10/link-bridge-collapses-in-enugu/

chime's Administration saved the people of that area by constructing an offshoot State Road from the new Nike-Opi road, started a bridge towards the end of the road where it joined a federal road, the bridge is suppose to replace this collapsed one, but it's abandoned at the moment, since Chime left office. I say saved, because the federal Road has similar collapsed bridges, about 3, connecting isi-uzo to Enugu through Nkalagu[Ebonyi State], so as it stands, the people of Isi-Uzo are cut off from Enugu. Like other federal roads in the East, Federal government has not been able to fix the road. I heard recently that Ebonyi State Government plans to construct their part of the road, it might just be a hoax, because I doubt Ebonyi state can muscle out fund to construct the 3 bridges.

Isi-uzo LGA and Adani are like the Agricultural Base of Enugu State, both have very fertile soil for many crops(cassava, rice, yam, vegetables, fruits, and so on), and energetic community men and women, ready to work. But no serious government assistance, so they only do farming at low scale. Even, the sales of produce from the low scale activities is frustrated by death traps called road.

I just passed Owerri-Ph Road yesterday, if you want to know how hell look like then try going through the road with low-set car, esp after rain. Once you get to Rivers-Imo boundary, the road immediately wears an eastern outlook of horror. It's almost impossible for trucks to pass through the road, best are SUV and small buses. The way I see it, is that economic activity between PH and Owerri is broken, at the moment. The same is obtainable once you get to East from any part of the country, in Enugu -onitsha Road, once you pass Asaba into onitsha, the road changes drastically, hampering economic activity between onitsha and Enugu and other parts of Nigeria that depend on that road. In Benue-Enugu, once you pass boundary with Benue enter Obollo Afor, the road turns to purgatory, you will immediately know you're in the East. I pray God punishes anyone involved in this hardship easterners are going through!

During the peak oil boom Igbos failed to gain meaningful infrastructural development. Jonathan duped Igbos and they are still yet to admit that truth but have resorted to attacking APC who just got into power inheriting a weak and almost dead economy.

We were scammed for 12 years with the 2nd Niger bridge and Niger dredging and Onitsha port. I saw all that and proposed we do some of these infrastructural developments ourselves. It is a matter of establishing special trustfund where all Igbos contribute funds for railways and roads linking all parts of Southeast.

You can hardly be seen proffering solutions for mostly bad roads in Imo state including federal and state roads alike. Are you so cursed that you cannot see the total mess in your own state? How much have you contributed to rebuild those horrible roads in Imo state? At least there is still the 1st Niger bridge while the 2nd Niger bridge is gradually proceeding. Onitsha Port has been completed.

Stop being silly and constituting nuisance all over the place. If there is any state that was scammed, it is Imo state. Go to Owerri section of PH road and feed your eyes with what imolites are passing through everyday. And that Owerri section represents the worst road in Nigeria but it doesn't bother you one bit. I just pity you!

I wouldn't blame most of what igbos are going through on GEJ. GEJ may not have favoured igbos the way he could, but we fared better under his Administration unlike past administrations of yoruba and Hausa presidency. And that's why igbos voted for him.

Again, why must igbos build federal roads while other regions enjoy federal govt built roads. I like the idea of special fund and collective development but not taking up federal government responsibility. So as long we remain part of nigeria, we should enjoy the same rights as other Nigerians.

Igbos did not fare better under Jonathan. We did under Obasanjo. All the Igbo appointees under Obasanjo did their best from Ezekwesili to Soludo to Akunyili to Iweala to Okereke Onyiuke to Ernest Ndukwe to Barth Nnaji etc. The Owerri-Onitsha road even though has started deteriorating from age was equally done by Obasanjo. We must tell ourselves this plain truth.

The Igbos should stop fighting any Igboman that comes into national limelight. Nobody is a Saint but Igbos always try to pull down their own. You can check the history from Zik to Ekwueme to Orji Kalu. Even when Odili nearly emerged Yar'adua's VP he was removed on grounds of having dual loyalty to Igbo and South south while Igbos neglected him.

@ the bolded.....but what if "they" do not fix these roads? And right now, "they" are not....and it is not looking like anything that will happen any time soon, the federal government fixing our roads that is,....and it is an emergency...to me at least

So what do we do? Do we continue waiting? And wailing? cheesy lipsrsealed (I believe it is a new name for us now)
Or do we take the bull by the horns, be our God given innovative, go-getting selves and get this done?

I see what a daunting task it is...some may say impossible, but what do you know? We might just pull this off....
You know what? It would be the most revolutionary thing done by Ndigbo in recent years, and the most awesome by far
Surely there is a way this feat could be possible?
And trust me, all the gazillion amounts they mention when awarding contracts on these roads are mere inflated sums
We all know this of course
If we can fix these roads....we will get Biafra right when it comes

Of course I agree with you it should not be so, but it is, ayi ga e ji mgbagbu ghalu ogu, eh nnaa?

I sincerely hope this is not pride but realism talking here for me
However, I feel it is worth a shot, I will either try with the planting greenery...or delegate someone close to do the whole job for me
It is a really doable and nice proposal

I wouldn't blame most of what igbos are going through on GEJ. GEJ may not have favoured igbos the way he could, but we fared better under his Administration unlike past administrations of yoruba and Hausa presidency. And that's why igbos voted for him.

Again, why must igbos build federal roads while other regions enjoy federal govt built roads. I like the idea of special fund and collective development but not taking up federal government responsibility. So as long we remain part of nigeria, we should enjoy the same rights as other Nigerians.

We should not always follow Nigeria's monistic system in everything!. Nigeria only believe in one way traffic in everything & we adopted same or worse in Igboland!.What stops Enugu or Anambra State from opening other roads linking Enugu & Anambra is beyond believe!.Must we rely on Enugu/Onitsha express road alone!.We need to open at least 6 connecting roads in between us even without the useless Federal express road!. This will open up Anambra/ Enugu States economy!.

Why not build rail lines instead of road. The 2 states can invite investors to do that and it will not cost them anything just the right of way.
