President of the NFF, Pinnick Amaju said that Manu Garba and Amuneke have a relationship that would be beneficial to Nigerian football. ‘’Amuneke will assist Garba in the U-20 and still retain his position as the gaffer of the U-17. Thanks. You are the Boss Sir. Am beginning to like the NFF President, if he continues this way. It will be a nice idea to have Coaches like Sunday Oliseh, Samson Siasia, Manu Garba, Emmanuel Amunike, paddle the Ship of our football. Am waiting to hear that, the NFF is planning to have some of them learn under Arsen Wenger, Jose Mourinho, Pelegrini, and some other good German Coaches like Guardiola, e.t.c and not just Coach Sunday Oliseh alone learning from some of the good Coaches. Am also beginning to suspect some able personalities on this thread. CC: Sir Icon4, TheSuperNerd, Joseph1013, TheGoodJoe, Adeyemi......, Bascovanveli, Safarigirl, Forgiveness, Mikron, Lexyman, e.t.c., It looks like some persons here are NFF............. BlackAlbino6: Pinnick should allow the Stellar Group offer. These men have a reputation of giving their players long careers. These guys are in it for the long run and they actually want their players to do well. Unlike Agents who would ship their players to rubbish clubs, Stellar will get the very best clubs that would suit the players. I hope the NFF Bosses allow the deal to go through. The players will still be our asset and asset to Stellar group. 1 Like |

TheGoodJoe: Yeah, interestingly both coaches seem to have contrasting styles of play. While Coach Manu is d ticky-tacker kind of coach with plenty of ball possession; Coach Amuneke believes in counter attacks & direct play without much ball possession. If u study the 2013 Eaglets well u will discover they played a blend of both. The 2015 Flying Eagles were not as pacey and as direct as they were at 2013 U17. There were several cases where they passed the ball too many times even in danger areas and got punished on some of such occasions. Let's see how these 2 coaches combine again with the 2017 U20. That team would be a force to be reckoned with. |

Icon4s: I don't think their philosophies are much different, i just think their players were different. The 2013 set had more technically gifted individuals especially in the midfield while the set were just as deadly if not more deadly in front of a goal. They both scored alot of goals out of counter attack. |

BascoVanVeli: Their philosophies are similar, just like Guardiola and Enrique. There is a slight contrast in their choices of players. Guardiola prefers players keeping things simple and relying mostly on their passes to unlock the game. While Enrique prefers technically gifted with the ball and not just with passes. That is why you see slight difference in the play of Busquets. Now we are seeing Busquets holding the ball and showing his dribbling ability. |

Emmanuel Amuneke Turns Down Golden Eaglets, Flying Eagles Jobs Former Barcelona winger Emmanuel Amuneke has rejected an offer from NFF President Amaju Pinnick to continue coaching the Golden Eaglets and work as an assistant to Manu Garba in the Flying Eagles. Amuneke has stressed that Pinnick didn’t thrash out terms with him before he made an announcement on his reappointment last week. “No doubt coaching the national team is something I consider a huge privilege and when you even get to win honors with the national team, I think there are very few experiences that can beat that, ” said Amuneke to footballive.ng. “However, I don’t subscribe to certain situations and certainly I don’t think announcing the appointment of a coach on air without a meeting with the party involved or a written contract is not how I’ll choose to work.” Emmanuel Amuneke was in the dugout when the Golden Eaglets won the Fifa Under 17 World Cup last month. http://www.allnigeriasoccer.com/read_news.php?nid=17188 1 Like |

Aged 18, Usman initially arrived in Israel three months ago and tried his luck at Maccabi Tel Aviv, Hapoel Acre, Hapoel Rishon LeZion and Maccabi Ironi Kiryat Ata but those teams passed up the opportunity to acquire him due to work permit issues. “I signed for just a season for the youth team so next season I am moving to the senior side. Siasia: Unpaid Bonuses Won’t Stop U-23 Eagles From AFCON Title By James Agberebi: Nigeria U-23 coach Samson Siasia has stated that after qualifying for next year's Olympics, their next target is to win the CAF U-23 Cup of Nations. The U-23 Eagles will face Algeria in Saturday's final inside the Leopald Sedar Senghor Stadium, Dakar. This will be the second time both teams will be meeting after their first clash ended goalless. Speaking ahead of the final, Siasia said his team know what to expect against Algeria following their first meeting. "We're very happy to be in the final. It has been a long journey with some ups and downs but it feels good to be in the final," Siasia told CAF's official website. "We know our opponents (Algeria) very well after playing them (at the group phase) and seeing their matches. "The objective was to qualify for the Olympics which we achieved against Senegal. Now, we've set another objective, which is to win because we want to win the tournament for our people back home in Nigeria." It has emerged that the players have not been paid their bonuses but Siasia insists they will not be distracted. "The players worked hard to get to Rio de Janeiro because they want to make the country proud. It doesn't matter whether they have received match bonuses or not, what is important is to play and win for Nigeria," Siasia said. He also hinted that Victor Osimhen should feature in the final against Algeria. "Victor Osimhen had a good outing against Senegal which is giving me problems ahead of the final. I think he will play but I cannot confirm if he will start." www.completesportsnigeria.com/siasia-unpaid-bonuses-stop-u-23-eagles-afcon-title/ 1 Like |

Algeria Coach: We’ll Take Our Chances In U-23 AFCON Final By James Agberebi: Algeria U-23 coach Pierre-Andre Schurman has said that they will approach the final of the U-23 Cup of Nations against Nigeria differently. Schurman told CAF official website that the final will be a different ball game entirely. "The final will never be the same (like the meeting at the group phase)," he said. "It is a different game and we will have a different philosophy because it is an important game for the two coaches. "We will focus on our strategy. Every coach would like to go offensive but the basic is defence. When you are building a house, you need a strong foundation to support it. "The differences will be the goals scored and once you have an opportunity, you have to score." He stated that their number one objective was to qualify for the Olympics after a 35-year wait. "Our mission was to qualify for the Olympic Games and it is done. I congratulate my players and staff on that. "Our qualification is historic in the sense that it has been 35 years since Algeria last qualified for the Olympic Games. It was worth it and for a coach from a country like Switzerland, it is quiet weird," Schurman said. www.completesportsnigeria.com/algeria-coach-chances-u-23-afcon-final/ |

Umar hits debut goal for Roma Sadiq Umar scored his first goal in Serie A for AS Roma in their 2-0 win over Genoa on Sunday. The 18-year-old was thrown into the fray as an 82nd minute substitute in place of Egyptian winger Mohammed Salah by club trainer Rudi Garcia. Umar took his chance as he netted in the 89th minute in predatory fashion to seal maximum points for the Giallorossi. He crept in behind the Genoa defence, outsmarting five players in the process as he headed past Mattia Peron following a great cross from William Vainqueur. Umar, currently on loan from Serie B (second division) club Spezia, had only played twice previously for Roma in Serie A -- racking up just 30 minutes of action under his belt. http://www.supersport.com/football/nigeria/news/151220/Umar_hits_debut_goal_for_Roma 1 Like |

11 facts you need to know about Sadiq Umar 18-year-old Sadiq Umar scored his first ever goal for Roma just seven minutes after coming on as a second-half substitute against Genoa. Here’s 11 facts you need to know about the young striker… 1. Sadiq was born in Kaduna, the the state capital of Kaduna State in north-western Nigeria. 2. Despite being only 18 years old, Sadiq is 6 foot, four inches tall (1.92m). 3. The youngster grew up playing on the streets of Kaduna before joining the Future of Africa Academy and the Football College Abuja, where he was spotted by AC Spezia. 4. He got his love of football from his father. “I started playing football when I was very little on the streets of Kaduna,” he revealed in an interview in February. “My interest in the game increased as I grew up. My father Umar Abubakar, known as ‘Mega’ ,was a footballer. He was a striker for Ranchers Bees back then. He was a major influence in making me choose football as a career.” 5. The Nigerian was an instant hit during his first season at AC Spezia – scoring 14 goals in his first 18 Primavera outings. 6. Swapping Nigeria for Italy wasn’t easy, he admits. “It was tough because it was my first time in Europe,” he says of the move. “It wasn't easy as I had to adapt to a lot of things that I wasn't used to, both in terms of the playing part and the life in general, but gradually I started getting used to it and things improved as time went by. It wasn't easy but I really thank God that I can now say I’ve settled in nicely.” 7. He joined Roma on loan during the summer and made his Serie A debut for the first team on 21 November 2015 against Bologna, replacing Juan Iturbe after 88 minutes in the 2-2 away draw. 8. At Roma, he’s already scored 14 Primavera goals this season – eight in the league, four in the UEFA Youth League and two in Coppa Italia. 9. He believes he’s become a better player since moving to Italy. “I can say that my game has improved both physically and technically. I can say I'm more aware of my role now as a striker more than ever and you are aware that Italian football is very tactical. Defensively they are tight which makes it difficult for any striker. I'm very grateful to Almighty Allah for giving me the opportunity to start my career in Italy.” 10. His hero growing up was Nigeria international Nwankwo Kanu – a footballer some pundits in Africa have compared his player style to. “I feel honoured to be compared to such a legend and a great African football ambassador who also at one time in his career played in Italy," Sadiq told Supersport before joining Roma. “I hope and pray to work hard and achieve as much as he did. I loved watching him play when I was a kid and every day I work hard on my game to be the best. He is my role model. I’ll work hard and make sure I achieve my goals of being the best. With God, everything is possible.” 11. He dreams of representing his country at senior level one day in the future. “Every serious footballer will always have the ambition of representing his country and I’m no exception. I will keep working hard on my game and keep improving.” http://www.asroma.com/en/news/2015/12/11-facts-you-need-to-know-about-sadiq-umar 1 Like 1 Share |
