Good evening mamas. So I went for antenatal and did my scan today. Everything is fine but I no understand my scan at all. First, when the scan man couldn't see anything at first and had to ask me to drink enough water and come back when I feel pressed. Did anyone experience this? So i drank water and came back 30 mins later, by then I was super pressed,was just holding the urine. Then he checked and checked before we could see some things I don't really understand. Doesn't look like embryo stuff. Was told to do a repeat scan in 2weeks time and to see the dr. I went and was told to come back in 2wks,dat the uterus is bulky which means there's something there and dat there's a cyst in the right ovary. Asked if I am bleeding or in pain, No to all that. I am almost 10 weeks and now I'm worried o. Thought I'll see the foetus, no matter how small. I snapped the result and attached it to this post. Please, doctors and nurses in the house and all the sabi mamas, can you explain better abeg? Thanks.

Didnt even see any fetal pole. Only the bulky uterus. I waited to see two more people do their scan and theirs was very clear. I will definitely do the scan again.

Sorry dear. D fibroid plus ur growing uterus s wot s causing d discomfort. because of d fibroid, ur tummy ll definitely look bigger dan it shld b. U ll just hv to wait something's out. Take lots of water, rest well. Eat a little at a time so dat ur stomach doesn't get too full. Hang in there, this too shall pass!

Congratulations. Laughing at this your EDD oo. E b like you go ask Oct mums to create small space for you to register there incase this your September no work Anyways repeat the scan between 11-13weeks sha if you get d same EDD.

Do I still go on with my routine drugs (iron, folic acid, vit c, calcium, bcomplex) even while on malaria drugs? Heard vit c and iron render malaria drugs ineffective. . Do I take them at separate hours?

I took mine alongside with pregnacare plus.

Cheerychy did you tell them you wanted pelvin scan or obstetrics ? Anyways, repeat the scan in 2 weeks and see what they say

So today is my EDD after seriously hoping i'd be teamJan, my LO is still chilling like he doesn't know it's time to meet mum

I'm still in my first trimester, mine was given cos i was diagnosed of malaria. .

However, nurse kaffy said preg women are given routine antimalaria drugs to prevent malaria. .think you should ask your doctor.

As they augmented me, my contractions become painful but still nt painful enough, I was even telling my neighbour who was screaming her lungs out due to labour pain sorry,...infact d nurses come dey use dey gv example to other women in labour, they were like "see that woman over there, u won't believe she is 6cm and u re just 3cm na him we no go hear word" (nurses and thier mouth sha)...while all these was going on I never knew d Dr. was secretly observing me from his desk, I heard him whisper to the head nurse in charge...are you sure this "big baby" is really contracting cos her baby's head is low and given the time she came she should have been 10cm by now....the nurse came, oya open ur leg let us check...Ah u re barely 7cm, ...Dr come ooo is like u re ryt she is nt contracting...Dat was when the Dr. told the nurse to bring "that thing" and inject me...if only I hv noticed the mischievous wink d Dr and d nurse exchanged I should have guessed what that thing was.
They first gv me one dose of that thing...whew the pain kinda doubled....i just bone..i no wan shout...for my mind I dey form James Bond....after I exhausted that one they checked and gave me a 2nd dosage of "that thing" that was it finally dawned on me that was notin else but "oxytocin"....na him dem, dem dey pump inside me like purewater...omo within 5mins (that's even an exaggeration)...I began to dance different dance styles...from makossa, to suo, to alanta, to alingo, azonto, even skelewu and shoki all I dance am there...I dance even my village dance for dem sef....I was just shouting Nnem ooo, Nnem oooo! like one local village girl....all d nurses were just smiling (bad belle ppl )...d contract. were coming every 1 min...before I knew it I felt as if someone opened the tank where they store all the poo in my body...all of a sudden I began to shout..."I wan sh!t ooo! I wan sh!t ooo"...one of d nurses screamed at me "my friend will u lie down don't u know is ur baby that is coming"....another nurse came to check then exclaimed "ah the baby's head is here ooo"...she turned her back to bring scissors for tearing...before she could turn to face me, I don born my pikin....but they still gave me a small cut...guess it's the hospital policy to give all ftm a cut...she weighed 3kg (soh soh )...we were discharged d next day

As for Malaria, some don't believe in prophylactic care of malaria, it isn't negligence, they just don't follow that guideline...

As per cleaning can you call the niece yourself? That's depending on your current rapport. Or else ask around for random cleaners to come n clean once a week.

Please don't be pressured into stressing yourself and then you are unnecessarily tired and so on.

Finally packed my bags around few minutes to 7pm. Got to the hospital and I was checked, all the doctors were surprised I was 4cm gone already as I told them I wasn't feeling any pains. Sharp sharp they gave me bed. So here I am at the hospital chilling like I ain't even here for delivery. I just finished a delicious rice meal and assorted meat bought by DH. I asked him to get more.. Lol.

@presva, don't take antimalarials(lonart, artesunate etc) with vit C. Vit C reduces their potency. Wait till when you finish your malaria drugs before continuing with it. If it's fansidar don't take folic acid that day. You can take ur other drugs along side the antimalarial.

@ olubankemi, sorry dear. Some dhs don't understand the many complaints during pregnancy. When I complain my dh will say take things easy but na there e end. Dirty plate go dey wait me, dirty clothes o, preparing children for sch o just name it.
Hope he saw you crying. Preg, work and house chores coupled with dh wey no dey pet can be overwhelming. If u r a FTM,meaning no children to care for, abeg relax shebi na only una 2 dey house or u can outrightly tell him to help out in some chores. It's well dear
