Oh dear. Think about how your children would feel if you killed yourself.

I agree with you that the world can be cruel. But depression makes the world seem even worse than it is. A lot of people are suffering, but there are moments they are able to enjoy the pleasures of life. Think of your children.

You say you are no longer able to fend for your family as before. It is understandable that this would make you feel bad. But please do not make the mistake of believing your children would feel better if you were gone. My father used to constantly complain and get down about how business was bad, meanwhile I wished he just let go of his pride a little and see that we appreciated him as our father, regardless of how much money he made. You need to remember that. You are not your job, your worth is not determined by your income or your education or how many friends you have. Even if you were lying under a bridge with no clothes on your back (which is not the case for you!), you will still be a worthy human being. Even if you had to move to a bad neighborhood and lose your car because money was tight, you would still be a worthwhile person. God has created every person with worthiness that cannot be taken away. Remember that you are worthy, regardless of how much money you have, where you live, what school your children attend, etc etc.

Is there one person you can talk to? Surely you are not completely alone. You don't need to have multiple friends - even just a spouse, a coworker, somebody at a place of worship, your neighbor. Don't let your depression magnify the bad things in your life, so you don't see the good. Take heart.

i am posting this on behalf of a friend, she has been on nairaland for years but she's the shy type she hardly post a comment, so i told her i was gonna post this on her behalf and she agreed.

This pretty young and endowed lady is a very good friend of mine, she's a graduate of agriculture from one the Nigerian universities. She's from Ghana but was born and brought up in Nigeria.

To cut the long story short this lady was diagnosed with fibroid a malign type that affected her ovaries. She had previously had an operation to remove the fibroid but doctors could only scrap it off and not remove it totally because it was on her ovaries three years later the fibroid grew back aggressively causing some other infections and was almost turning cancerous, doctors had to do another surgery early this year to remove it, but this time around they removed it completely together with her ovaries and uterus. Now it's clear that she can never concieve

She's really depressed sometimes thinking about taking her life, she's this kind of girl that's big about the "marriage thing", she's worried that no man will wanna marry a woman that can't give birth. I have tried convincing her that der are men out der who don't really want children probably because they have already from past marriages and the likes (if you that kinda guy and you are interested pm me).

I have ran out of ideas to console her with, i need advice or suitors for her.

All your desires may not be fulfilled, but your positive acceptance of your role reveals benefit and hidden blessings


Accept people : Lesson your expectations and accept them as they are. Your positive vibes will be returned manifold.

Accept yourself : You are the gravitational center of your world. Never compare yourself with others but do not compare with your own past performance. check your SWOT (( strength, weaknesses opportunity and threats)) regularly. You"ll find that you can be content and happy with yourself when you "see" the talent that you possess.

.Have faith in God is the ultimate. Be strong and willing.

Nne, the Lord is your strength. Find a good church where the Word of God is preached and practiced, and involve yourself in the work of God.

Beware of dogs. There are many dogs and vultures especially here on Nairaland looking for someone they can take advantage of. Look before you leap. Do NOT bring a stranger into your life .... it's extremely dangerous. You will get through this and may God grant you wisdom.

Thank you very much for this. I had encounter with one of them from nairaland early this year. He duped me of 4k.
But on the bright side, I was also able to buy Xmas clothes for my kids last year through someone on nairaland. That's life.

At a time I stopped picking unknown calls. It's frustration that made me do this.
