truth is aba urban is actually a planned area but unconcerned military governors and incompetent governors affected that city from 1984 to date..if you reconstruct the roads and dualize the ones that need to with high quality works and the drainage of the city done effectively(this to me is aba's biggest issue because of the terrain) this will become obvious.. its outskirts still have lots of land that can be planned for development

If you have nothing tangible to say, is it not better you keep quiet? Do you know how many times I personally had tried cautioning Chino on the Imo and this Enugu thread? If Chino is Igala then I put it to you that you are Idoma, you are not Igbo until you give me a proof of your Igboness.
The the unity in Anambra state is your problem, please go hug a wet transformer and Ndianambra wouldn't even bother, your quest for disunity between the Igbos and Igalas of Anambra won't and cannot work. Just like a German from Germany telling a German speaking Swiss to hate other Swiss, are you not promoting hate?
So much for Igbo unity based on hate for others
.
The analogy you just used to respond to me has proven how foolish you are and how foolish you'll be. I cannot be cajoled not to speak the truth in order to please some slow poke. You should be ashamed of yourself for using the Swiss example to quantify the Igbo unity argument, because it doesn't hold water.
We have non-Igbo tribes in several SE states and yet they don't foolishly jump to do the nonsense those ones in Anambra are fond of doing. In Enugu and Abia for instance, we have Igala/Idoma elements and as well as Annangs but you hardly see these ones carry states on their head to the detriment of Igbo unity. You hardly see them hide under Enugu state tag to fight fellow Igbos. If an Idoma Enugu indigene speaks thrash about fellow Igbo states an Enugu man with shut him down and won't tolerate another ethnicity disunite his own ethnic group, the same applies to Abians too. The Enugu thread has been going on for years and I have never seen such nonsense happen, except for the madness many of you idiots from Igalaland forming Igbo bring here. The Igbo nation has passed through hell in this country, where every tribe inclusive of the Igala's are always hoping for our downfall. For this reason we don't give a Bleep about others, even if they have some age long Eri link nor some age long Arochukwu link, we look out for ourselves only. We don't look out for other anti-Igbo tribes playing the fifth columnist amongst us, who don't want our progress. Whose larger ethnic group joined our enemies to exterminate us during the civil war. If the Igalaman amongst us is a proponent of Igbo unity then we will welcome him, but if he is against our unity and progress then we will castigate and throw him off board. And if this message doesn't pass through your ears then you along with your fellow idiots should go drown in the Omanbala river.

Bros you have tried a lot just that this superiority complex in Igbo DNA won't allow such summit to hold.
Looking at SE map in Nigeria map, Igbo land is the smallest compare to other regions yet we have too many divisions already within.

I've noticed there's this penchant among our political elite in the SE to closely guard their spheres of influence on a state level, hence they're reluctant to delegate or relinquish any powers to say a centrally-focused and pan-Igbo development agency.

When you hear of this their so called SE governors meeting, it's just to play to the gallery as it were....basically, just to fulfill all righteousness. Nothing tangible ever comes out of these useless meetings!

I don't even take this SE governors forum serious because the problems we have here in Nairaland(online) is also being played in real life.
Everyone is just about his little state without having a bigger pictures to carry all other Igbo-land along.

Achi4u and Xander85, you guys have the grasp of what our elite are. They are mere local champions with no true respect after their palatial fence.

If igboland will develop, we need to break the artificial boundaries and become one body to marshal a bigger developmental plan. The more we scream on top of our voice about the development the more they cover their ears with filth.

It is very possible to have a world class eastern region but can we sit down and say "let's do this?".

It is not going to be easy but we will see drastic changes if we do it right.

Igbos love these words:

We are dominating commerce in Abuja, Lagos, Jos and Kano.

We are dominating transport all over Africa.

We are dominating hotels and clubs.

We are dominating in WAEC and JAMB scores grin grin

We are the most educated in Nigeria ( Oh my God grin)

Now to the present realities, even if we have substantial amount of people doing these stuff all over the country, we have not dominated our own tuff. Why? We seem to love feeding from other people.

Passing WAEC and JAMB are the worst achievement we can give ourselves because as we all know, our students know next to nothing with those achievement. Since the primary and secondary education is controlled by the state (to an extent), why can't redesign our educational template to favour skills acquisition and mental development? Do we still need to call on God for that?

We keep churning job seekers in the name of graduates, lol. Funny people.

and you think Igbos don't dominate artisanship in Nigeria. Who control Aba industrial clusters that churn out most foot wears, handbags and traditional attires adorn in Nigeria.

Anambra too have opened her footwear industrial cluster that is still dominated by Igbos.

I concur with this post, however Chino must tone down Igbo bu ofu. His hate for any SE state outside Anambra is disturbing, notice he does not do same if its SW or Northerners insulting Anambra, that's why many question his Ethnicity.

That said Igbo's are their own problem see all the hate ofodirinwa was spitting towards most economical SE cities that put Igboland on the map, and to think that he even got likes and some cheered him on is even more worrisome.

I am yet to see anything wrong with what Ofodirinwa posted.
He didn't post out of hatred.
The worst that Igala fool will do is post pictures of people and spam the thread( which will get all his monikers banned by the way) but that can't hide the truth.
Why didn't Aba folks come here to say rubbish?
Uwani, coal camp, Asata are some of the most planned settlements on earth, not even the fact many of the buildings are old is enough to disprove that fact.
And do well to ignore that yeske whatever.
No other state thread can get to this level. Stop begging people to tone down, if they don't want, it's their headache.

The SE governors should bid for the Enugu airport instead. Then, they can "sub-concession" to a technical partner who would be responsible for the day to day professional management of the airport. But funding the annual maintenance/construction projects at the airport will be split 50-50 or (40-60) between the SE states combined, and the technical partner(s).

I'm just happy that the FG has begun moves to concession its major international airports. The FG has no business running an airport at all.

Re: Enugu, The Pride Of The East. by BeijinDossier: 7:20am On Apr 17, 2018
The hate in the region runs deep and wide. They want Igbo unity but some states in the region have elevated their hate and bitterness to governmental level. Look below and see what so called Igbo did to a fellow Igbo meanwhile we are here everyday yapping economic integration.

In the 7th senate, it was Ayogu Eze that stood on the way in confirming Anambra an oil state in the Senate which the state has been investing and developing. Now it is sen Utazi. Tomorrow someone will come and yap Igbo economic integration and you think its gonna fly. It's all man for himself. Let the region scatter because it is not useful. Let all states stand on its own and fight for itself.

If you claim you have oil, why not develop it like Anambra is doing than being a clog in the wheel each time this matter is raised in the Senate? I can even excuse the guy from NC but what of our so called fellow Igbo who knows clearly that this oil belongs to Anambra. We are watching but you guys will never succeed.

See the highlighted in red, has the 2 other pretending States done anything like that? The answer is NO.

The Senate on Thursday mandated its committee on Petroleum (Upstream) to investigate the contention over the oil producing status of Kogi and Anambra states.

The resolution came after three senators from Kogi, Anambra and Enugu states traded of words on the issue.

First was Chukwuka Utazi (Enugu) who told his colleagues that an appointee of Anambra State, Mike Emuh, announced in a national daily that the state is an oil-producing state.

In a report by Vanguard newspaper, Mr Emuh, the National Chairman of Host Communities Producing Oil and Gas, HOSCON, told traditional rulers in the state that the federal government has approved 10 modular refineries in the 11 oil producing states in the country, one of which refineries would be cited in Anambra.

Mr Emuh further said the federal government also approved the employment of 10,000 youth from oil producing states, of which 1,000 are to be employed in Anambra State.

He added that he was in the state to ask the traditional rulers to nominate a particular place the modular refinery would be cited in the state and to prepare for the selection of the youth to be employed.

Mr Utazi condemned the announcement, saying the status of Anambra as oil producing state is still being looked into.

“On the 9th of April, 2018, the Vanguard newspaper among other things said that federal government confirms Anambra State’s status as oil producing state and it was copiously reported. I want to take the senate on a history lane.

“The government of President Jonathan Goodluck on 30th of August 2012 recognized erroneously Anambra as an oil producing state. As a result of that, it sparked a lot of violent protests in Kogi and Enugu states who were part owners of this oil, OPL 915, 916 and 917.

“As a result of the violent protests in these states, the government of Jonathan, as it then was called for a meeting on the 31st of October 2012 to resolve this issue and invited into the Villa, the (then) governor of Anambra state, Peter Obi; (then Governor Idris) Wada of Kogi and the deputy of Governor of Enugu State then for a meeting.

“After looking at the issue that concerns these ownership on this oil filed, they decided to withdraw the declaration already made and ordered the National Boundary Commission to wade into this issue and find out actually who owns what, and since then the NBC has been handling this matter.

“It is on record that I brought a motion to this effect when we were handling this issue but because of the nature of that motion, Mr. President decided to stand down that motion I brought and said we should allow the National Boundary Commission to look into that issue and come up with a final resolutions that the matter would be settled amicably.”

He prayed the Senate to look into the matter and caution the state appointee from making such announcement.

“Who owns OPL 915, 916 and 917? It is contentious. The Igala speaking people in Uzuwani are laying claims, Enchenwa of Abaji local government area of Kogi are laying claims, Anambra East Local Government are laying claims,” he concluded.

Reacting, a senator from Anambra State, Andy Uba, said Mr Utazi’s submission was a lie, claiming his state has attained the status of oil-producing state.

He said, “If you recall in 2013, those that were here in the 7th Senate, I moved the motion for Anambra to be included in the oil producing state and then the issue was that every state that wants to be included must produce 120,000 barrels of oil before they would be included and Anambra has attained that. So what my colleague is saying is not true. He is lying. He is just saying his own view.”

Defending his state, Dino Melaye from Kogi said the two other senators were lying as the contentious oil well belongs to Kogi.

“So that we don’t live with an impression that is wrong. You had earlier ruled that the chairman upstream look into the issue of the conflict as regards the oil discovery but I want to say that as a senator representing Kogi, that our electric brother and friend, Senator Utazi is totally wrong and my soft-spoken senator from Anambra State is totally wrong. The oil is from Ibaji Local Government in Kogi State. It is only owned by Kogi State and I want the chairman upstream to investigate it.”

The senate referred the matter to its committee on Petroleum (Upstream).
