iseoluwa89: Good morning all,
Please i just received my form I20 yesterday but the challenge is the school registration according to them ends November 1st 2018,which is just like 2-3wks frm now. Now my question is, can i still go ahead with application for visa interview considering the time. If yes, please how do I go about it to get a closer date because have been reading and hearing pple say no date till next yr or thereabout.
Secondly, if am to defer the admission till next intake pls how do i go about it so i dnt lose the offer.
Awaiting your suggestions. Thanks. If you're a first-timer, there is an 'emergency booking' option which you could leverage on. But if you've interviewed within the last 6 months, your best bet is to defer your admission to Spring. |

Spotlighte: I guess I'll never understand why people try to beat down their age. Isn't it just so much stress, seeing that you have to now falsify every other documents you have? Lies breed more lies, and it gets complicated as you go on. At some point, it just turns back and bites you so hard.
If you only just gave the agent the result for your application, I strongly advise to take it from him and do the needful: get the waec result that bears your real age.
Is that the same age on your international passport and your other documents or do they contrast? I didn't respond to that post because he isn't telling all the story. Scaling down his age isn't all there is to it. And to think that he brings such illegal action here to elicit our legal backing is comical. |

Greedy bastards, as your son in-law should be Governor after you have ruled for 8yrz He can't have his way all the time. PDP already sacrificed Shekarau and that's a big one already. Why would he want to install a son-in-law again. Allowing this would gravely decimate PDP's chances at the Kano guber pools. |

In their stead, what we do here is to offer credible suggestions based on experiences. If you are a genuine student and truly applied to Ashland Uni for your studies, then your business is to go to the embassy and make a very good case for yourself. You should be approved. However, there is another life after studies. And this is where a good choice of school matters. Whilst some schools will assist you on the journey to the top albeit with a price, some others will also take you to the top but you'll grind it out. Chidon360: MY PROPOSED TRANSCRIPT will be going for interview soon. Please the gurus in the house , read and correct my flaws.
Me--- Good morning sir/ma Vo. Good morning pass me ur passport & I-20 Me ...I did
Vo.....I can see you have been here before, why were u denied? Me.... I don't know because the visa officer didn't tell me specifically why he denied me but told me to reapply. .............................. VO..So Where are you going? Me...Am going to Prairie View A&M university to do my Msc degree in General Engr. with concentration in *Construction management* ......................... Vo..why construction management? Me.... having worked with a construction firm for some years now, where I am involved in planning, cost estimating, coordinating , organising & supervision of construction works, I discovered that Building failure & project abandonment is one of the major challenges facing the construction sector of Nigeria, and me going for this degree will definitely give me more knowledge & skills to be a good project manager upon my return to Nigeria to promote safety & efficiency in the construction industry here in Nigeria. ................................... Vo.....how many schools did u apply & how many admits? Me.... 3 schools namely-: PVAMU, ETSU & Oregon state University and got admitted in PVAMU and OSU.
Make sure you indeed applied to these schools. It is not difficult to find out if it is the other way round.
Vo... So why did u choose PVAMU? Me....I chose PVAMU because the department currently houses the center for research in structural & environment sustainablity and this aligns with the area of my research interest, and 2ndly the tuition fees is quite affordable compared to other schools i applied & meets my Dad's budget for my education.
Your last point about tuition doesn't carry much weight. Speak more on program-specific reasons. .............................. Vo....what's ur high school degree & when did u graduate?
Me... I have a Bsc in quantity surveying at IMO state University and graduated in 2013 but the degree was awarded in 2014 due to ASUU strike which lasted upto a year.
You graduated in 2014. You may spare yourself the extraneous information regarding ASUU annual ritual. You may also mention the month of graduation. .................................. Vo...what have u been doing since then?
Me...After my compulsory 1 year national service in 2015, I was retained in the construction company where I served for my place of primary assignment as the assistant cost estimator & construction manager. .…............................. Vo...Did u write any exam? Me...yes, I wrote GRE. VO...Let me see the result sheet Me....I brought out the result and pass to her, then I will tell her that my scoring low (282) in the exam was because i didn't prepare well for the exam due to my work schedule as i go to work even on Saturdays & return very late, though having met with the requirements of the schls, I was offered admission.
Was your graduate studies an afterthought or were you coerced into it? If NO is your answer, then you have no reason to mention how work distracted you. In the corporate working environment, your interviewer will dismiss you as lacking in multitasking skills. No project should suffer significantly by reason of the other, except you care less about either of the projects. .............................. Vo...what's your degree plan like?
Me...the course is scheduled to last for 21 months, (approximately two years)and I have to complete a total of 33 unit credit hours and maintain a minimum of 3.0GpA prio to graduation in the following courses÷ 1.cost management of the construction process- 3Chr 2. Innovation in construction - 3Chr 3. Sustainability facility system -3Chr 4. Sustainability infrastructural system- 3Chr and etc.
................................... Vo..so who is ur sponsor and what does he/do? Me...My father, and he's works in XYZ company And also owns a Large Bookshop in Munshi , where he did supplies to top private schools in mushi & Ikeja area of Lagos.
Vo...your Visa has been approved. Me...Amen ooo
Pls read , critisise and point out my flaws. Looking foward to hearing from everybody* Let me conclude by advising you to always endeavour to keep your answers brief and direct. Best wishes! |

Positivity101: I don't agree with you. I used a statement printed in February for my interview in August. I think you are just trying to analyze his/her situation but the law is the law. If they say 6 months, they mean 6 months. The important thing is that the document is genuine. I will advice you to go with a current statement. Some of these rules apply in principle, but not in practise. Consular Officers will tell you that you're free to apply to Community Colleges, but in practise how many applicants are granted visa to proceed to such colleges. American rules are laced with languages that make them look less rigid, but they make rigid demands from you. Be smart. |

Though i let them know i had 10 years experience on my current job based on the fact that i have been working and studying together for those 10 years. I hope this will not warrant unnecessary question at the embassy. Please help me house. I need wisdom how to go about it if at any question arises. Thanks. You are required to tell the true story of yourself on your DS form. Don't leave them guessing about your profile. An impatient Consul will promptly deny you if your story doesn't add up. You didn't commit any crime by schooling and working. This is why companies provide for in-service training schemes. But you'll be committing serious blunder if your profile lacks consistency or smacks of a curious attempt to conceal information. |

OpeTestimony: Hello house,
Please, I am trying to book an appointment for another visa interview after I was refused in August, when I select the "Previously refused" option, the earliest available date I am seeing is December 24! Omo this date is far, but when I select the "Regular" Option I see November 26, which is far too, but still better.
So please is there anything I can do to get an early date, or is there a particular time of the day or week that I can check back? And should I pick the date like that and be hoping that I can reschedule for an earlier date?
Please Help! You qualify to book as a Regular if the date of your last interview is earlier than August 10 (representing 2 months after your last interview). Since you have already counted 2 months and 5 days, you will do well to book Regular, pronto. |

fratermathy: I completely understand why you should disagree with my opinion but I stand by it. The party chairmanship can ALWAYS, and without notice, leave the SS in favour of a VP slot. The only buffer zone between the SE and SW is the SS and someone from this region can command some measure of votes and work assiduously with Atiku to garner more support in the South West and South East. Your suggestion in the bolded amounts to "shifting the goal post during play". Why would your SS step down as Party Chair just after this convention for the sole purpose of clinching the VP slot. Na only una waka come? Nigeria has moved past such archaic and anachronistic politicking. You need to move along too. Don't lag behind. Whilst I must admit that SS and SE posses some electoral values, the major interest and task now would be how to make inroads into the North and South West. For equity, SE should be given top priority now. It is on record that Atiku got block vote from SE, I can't say same about your SS. Rivers gave their 100% to Tambuwal. This is not time to go vindicative anyway, as this has been the undoing of the current government. This is time to heal wounds and build bridges. I rest my case. |
Politics › Re: Peter Obi Reacts To Atiku’s Victory by 100kobo(m): 8:15am On Oct 08, 2018 |
fratermathy: Most of the political pundits online seem to tie the fate of the SS and SE together without realising the diversity of political views and ethnic interests in the SS. The SE is one but the SS is a group of more than 30 disparate people. To bring them as one, Atiku needs to give us a rallying point and that rallying point has to be a VP slot.
The swing region is the SS. The SE has no choice but to vote Atiku. The SW may not vote for Atiku regardless of who his VP is but the SS can give Atiku a bloc vote of 8m if he plays his cards right. He has to get a VP from the SS. SE is already certain for him. SW will be difficult for him even with a VP slot but a SS VP slot will consolidate his message of restructuring and true federalism. It will fetch him votes from states that may otherwise be divided and it will also curry him the favour of SEners that may not want a SWner as VP as well as SWners that many not want a SEner as VP. Its a win-win.
All he needs to do is to get someone with widespread influence in the SS. Then he can promise the SW the position of SFG or SP. I disagree with you completely. Your views are not objective and does not reflect the realities on ground. Your SS cannot both be Party Chairman and VP. You need to learn the ropes some more. Granted that SE is entirely biased towards PDP, in the spirit of equity, it is only fair to allot the VP position to them. On the flip side, a south west VP candidacy is very essential to neutralise the Osibanjo effect should PMB pick him as running mate. Seeing that his presence there has only benefitted Jagaban and not the interest of the Y community. Personally, I will favor a decision to pick from the SE. That region has been sidelined in the scheme of things for far too long. This is the best time to heal the wounds. Planning is key here. Congrats to the Adamawa man. All hands must be on deck to unseat tyranny and oligarchy. |

When next you are filling your application, keep it real and honest. Visa success is all about having a genuine application and conversation (interview). While attempting to fill a new DS form, do note that certain information should not easily change within a short time as doing so will raise a red flag. Give it some time, then you can go back. You don't need to feel defeated already. Each interview is considered on it's own merit. Therefore, be prepared to make a solid case anytime you present yourself for interview. |

martAKINOLA: V.o: good morning
Me: I'm good, how was your night
V.o: what's your study plan
Me: I'm going to Lincoln university to pursue my bachelors degree in sonogrpahy
V.o: tell me about this course
Me: sonograpy is and aspect in diagnostic imaging that involves the use of ultrasound, it is used to view internal body structures like the kidney liver, muscles, the heart, feotus in a pregnant woman .
In the aspect of viewing the heart it is used to check the rate of blood flow to the heart and the aspect of pregnant women is to check if the feotus is in the right position and the condition of the feotus the breathing rate and the likes.
V.o what will this course do for you?
Me: with the look of things here in Nigeria, the course is very much alien to us the common one here is radiography, radiographers are still trying to improve their practice to sonography level. So with this course I've an upper hand in taking a sonography job in Gani faweyinmi diagnostic centre in ondo state
V.o: how many schools did you apply to?
Me: 3
V.o: name them
Me: Lincoln university, Cleveland state university and university of lowa
V.o: how many admits
Me: all
V.o: why Lincoln?
Me: I chose Lincoln over all because they have excellent course curriculum and are dedicated in training students the the basic and practical knowledge needed for them to be a professional in this field, and their weather over there is closer to that of Nigeria, it is about 23°c at this time of the year so it will be very easy for me to survive there
V.o: who is your sponsor
Me: my mum
V.o: what does she do
Me: she is a business woman into oil and gas, she is the CEO of Nicon filling station with 3 filling stations. 1 in Ondo town and the remaining two in Akure city
V.o: do you have her statement
Me: yes I do, here they are.
V.o: I'll be holding on your passport take this white paper pick your passport where circled here.
Boom naso I run joyfully go house
please gurus hemme screen the transcript TBH, if I was a VO, I won't approve you based on this script. You'll need to improve your responses on the following questions; 1. What's your study plan 2. About the course 3. Why this school Do keep your answers short and direct. Your job is not to mesmerize the VO, but to prove within minutes that you are a genuine student who has the wherewithal to undertake foreign studies and would promptly return to the country, without posing incumbrances during or after your study. Lastly, the bolded is not a good way to begin a conversation. I won't advice that. |

I also have a few questions.
1. I was told that i can't get admission for masters with my third class degree. Please is this true?
If this is true then how do i go about it. I'm sorry if in anyway you felt slighted by my earlier comment. Now to answer your question, there is a place for you with any class of degree you possess. However, the school may not be top notch. A short answer to your question is NO. To stand a chance to better ranked schools, you need to improve your profile by way of writing and acing your standardized tests, getting an excellent statement of purpose, with nice recommendation letters to complement. If you possess relevant working experience in your preferred study area, that could be an icing. Do these and then do some Google research about schools that suit you and can admit you. There is joy when the work is done, when you know you ran the race, and when the crown of victory is won. Best wishes! |
