Politics / Fayose Says President Is Too Old To Run In 2019 by 10Ebisco: 8:02am On Jun 01, 2018
Ekiti state governor, Ayodele Fayose, has told President Muhammadu Buhari that he's too old to contest in the 2019 presidential election and should leave the stage for younger candidates.

The governor said this in the wake of the president's signing of the "Not Too Young To Run" bill into law at the Presidential Villa on Thursday, May 31, 2018. The law alters Sections 65, 106, 131, and 177 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended) to reduce the age of qualification for the office of the President from 40 to 35 years; House of Representatives from 30 to 25 years; and the House of Assembly from 30 to 25 years.

Taking to his Twitter account (@GovAyoFayose) on Friday, June 1, 2018, the Ekiti governor said the future of the country belongs to the youths that the president has already tagged as lazy.

He noted that Ekiti state is a great champion of including youths in governance and took a dig at the All Progressives' Congress (APC) candidate in the upcoming Ekiti gubernatorial election, Dr Kayode Fayemi, for picking a 74-year-old, Adebisi Egbeyemi, as his running mate.

In a final shot at Buhari, Fayose told him to vacate the Presidential Villa for youths because he's too old to contest.

He posted, "We must have a Nigeria where anyone who is qualified to vote can also be voted for, not this hypocritical signing of "Not Too Young To Run" Bill by the same President who said our youths are lazy and must not run against him in 2019.

"I commend the youths who championed the "Not Too Young To Run" agitation and urge them not to relent because it is not yet uhuru. We must totally return the country to the youths who own the future of Nigeria. Here in Ekiti, if you are above 40 years, you can't be LG councillor.

"The future of Nigeria belongs to the youths and we must hand over the country to them without restrictions. If at 18, you are old enough to choose, you must also be seen as old enough to be chosen.

"Today in Ekiti, the PDP Deputy governorship candidate is 39 year old. He became chairman of Ado LG at 35. On the contrary, the APC deputy governorship candidate is 74 year old. He was chairman of Ado LG 25 years ago.

"Lastly, our President who signed the "Not Too Young To Run" should be reminded that at his very old age, he is also "Too old To Run." He should leave the stage for the younger generation of Nigerians."

75-year-old Buhari has officially declared to contest for re-election in next year's election as many have raised questions over his health and continued suitability to the position.

With his second term as Ekiti governor set to end, Fayose is in the running for the primary ticket of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) to enable him contest in the 2019 presidential election.

Celebrities / Kirk Franklin Slams Preacher Who Says God Wants Him To Buy A 4th Private Jet by 10Ebisco: 7:12am On May 31, 2018
American gospel singer, Kirk Franklin has criticized televangelist Jesse Duplantis who requested his followers to pray so that he can acquire a new private jet despite being in possession of 3 already. The 68-year-old preacher says he was instructed by God to buy a $54million private jet called Dassault Falcon 7X, which is a three-engine plane with a range of 5,950 nautical miles. According to him, with that he “can go anywhere in the world.”

Kirk Franklin shared on Instagram:

”This is Jessie Duplantis. A televangelist who has four planes, and is now telling us that “Jesus” wants us to buy him another one. I’m posting this because now that we see popular culture stand up to the injustices in mainstream society, I believe the church should do the same for its own as well. WE should take the lead when there is an abuse of power that affects our message to the masses; our silence can be as loud as the bigotry and racism we see in the public square. Many of these “ministries” built their wealth on the backs of poor rural minorities that put their trust in the hands of “god’s shepherds” only to see the prosperity benefit those doing the preaching. Again, there are GREAT Christian leaders, and there is NOTHING wrong with having a plane… but if the burden falls on the less fortunate and GREED is the check written by those drowning in socio-economic rivers of systemic disparities, GOD is not flying that plane.”

Politics / Corruption Fight Not Ethnic Or Religious – Lalong by 10Ebisco: 7:07am On May 30, 2018
Plateau State Governor Simon Bako Lalong has defended the present administration’s fight against corruption saying it borders on governance, not ethnic, religious or political leanings.

Lalong said this yesterday in his third year anniversary and democracy day speech titled “Integrity, Accountability and Transparency in Leadership.”

He said though people have the right to hold their opinions, the fight against corruption was solely the mandate of the anti-graft agencies, which have been statutorily empowered by the relevant Acts of the National Assembly to prosecute corrupt practices.

“For the records, by my disposition in life, I do not take any pleasure or gain in witch-hunting anyone as being peddled by those who have chosen, either out of mischief or ignorance, to give an ethnic or political colouration to recent activities of the anti-graft agency in the state,” he said.

Lalong said his administration was pursuing special requests made to the presidency for the dualization of the Abuja-Jos road, synergy and intervention for a major Trauma Services and Centre along the Hawan Kibo area as well as support to the Peace Building Initiatives and Roadmap.

He said that the state would continue to work with the Federal Government to ensure that all Internally Displaced People (IDPs) were resettled in their original places and their security guaranteed.

Politics / Mixed Reactions Over Reps’ Performance by 10Ebisco: 4:19am On May 29, 2018
With one year to the end of the Eighth Assembly, opinions vary as to whether the House of Representatives has lived up to the expectations of strengthening democracy in the country. Those who said the lower chamber has added value to the country’s democracy point to the adoption of dozens of motions and passage of bills in the quest to ensure the wellbeing of the citizenry and good governance within the last three years to justify their assertions.

The timely passage of the 1999 Constitution Amendment Bill in June last year is regarded as one of the landmark achievements of the House in the last three years. The House voted on 33 major bills including the Not-Too-Young-To-Run Bill that reduces the age qualification required for major elective positions in the polity as part of the alteration of the Constitution.

The bill, which aimed at providing an enabling environment for youths to participate in the governance of the country, sought to alter Section 65, 177 of the 1999 constitution as amended to reduce the age qualification for the office of the President from 40 years to 30 years, Governor from 35 to 30, Senate from 35 to 30, House of Representatives from 30 to 25 and House of Assembly from 30 to 25.

Other highlights of the Constitution alteration bills were attempts to grant autonomy to local governments and devolution of powers to the states in line with the clamour for true federalism. The adoption of the Not-Too-Young-To-Run Bill by over 24 State Houses of Assembly of the federation that is yet to be assented to by President Muhammadu Buhari has won accolades for the House of Representatives from rights groups across the country.

The novel idea by the House to engage cabinet ministers, top government functionaries and stakeholders in a series of sectoral debates on the floor of the House provided the enabling environment for the lawmakers to put in place measures aimed at rescuing Nigerians from the clutches of hunger, poverty, disease, social, economic, political and infrastructural decay in the affairs of governance in the polity.

In the aftermath of one of such debates, the House waded into the purported moves by the Ministry of Solid Minerals to concession the multi-billion naira Ajaokuta Steel Complex as no fewer than 301 members of the House jointly sponsored a motion under matters of urgent national importance to achieve the goal. The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, who made an on-the-spot assessment tour of the steel complex believed that the $500 million required to complete the plant can be sourced from either the Sovereign Wealth Fund, the Excess Crude Account or recovered financial crimes loot.

On the role of the lower chamber in budget management and passage, the Chairman of the House Committee on Media and Public Relations, Abdulrazak Namdas said the decision to organise a public hearing on the 2018 Appropriation Bill was aimed at ensuring citizens participation in the decision making process of governance.Issues relating to the implementation of the budget coupled with the question as to who has the ultimate power over the purse of the country had been at the centre of the recurring tussle between the executive and legislative arms of government since the inception of democratic rule in 1999.

Dogara who masterminded the passage of the North East Development Commission Bill into law had been at the forefront propagating the effort of the House to strengthen democracy in the country. While delivering a public lecture in Keffi recently, the Speaker said that under his leadership, the House has strengthened due process and the rule of law in the country. He explained that the Eighth House achieved the goal by providing leadership in the areas of accountability and transparency in government, citizens engagement, constituency representation, collaboration with its counterpart in the Senate and other arms of government to legislate for the common good of the Nigerian people,

He further stated that the House put in place measures aimed at reforming the economy and tackling poverty, unemployment, the scourge of corruption, terrorism, security and environmental challenges in the country and reducing the cost of running government and tackling national revenue leakages.

The speaker disclosed that the House in the course of exercising its oversight function exposed corruption through conducting over 50 investigative hearings on economic crimes in the country over the years. These include investigations into the award of contract for the rehabilitation of Nigerian Railways; Installation of CCTV cameras in Abuja and Lagos, alleged $17 billion stolen from undeclared crude oil and LNG exports to global destinations; investigative hearing on Centenary City Project; pre-shipment investigation, amnesty programme and several anti-corruption probes.

The ongoing probe of the level of compliance with the implementation of the Treasury Single Account (TSA) by Abubakar Nuhu Damburam and Ali Isa JC ad-hoc committees probing allegations of financial malfeasance levelled against authorities of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) is also in line with the House resolve to expose corrupt practices in the polity.

Describing representation as the very heart of constitutional democracy, Dogara said, “It is this democratic theory of representation that gave rise to what is now commonly known as constituency or zonal intervention projects, which is now an entrenched policy deliberately crafted to ensure equitable representation of every constituency in the allocation and distribution of the resources of the nation.

“The rationale is that an elected member of parliament is closer to his people than unelected persons who hold sway in the budgetary processes and policy execution.“The representative role of the legislature includes providing democratic legitimacy for the government. The accessibility of the Legislature to the ordinary citizen helps to engender confidence in the system. Citizens who regard their government as legitimate are more likely to obey laws, support the regime and accommodate diverse points of view. Citizen participation in the legislative process is vital to creating this sense of legitimacy.”

However, the controversy that trailed allegations of budget padding which led to the 180 days suspension of the former chairman of the House Committee on Appropriation, Abdulmumini Jibrin, is a blight on whatever claim the Eighth House would have as an institution that strengthens Nigeria’s democracy in the last three years. Jibrin who has regained his seat after the suspension period elapsed claimed that the budgeting process was being exploited by some of his privileged colleagues to enrich themselves to the detriment of Nigerians.

A recent move by the House to amend the Electoral Act to reorder the sequence of elections further tends to cast doubt on the claim by the House that it is doing enough to entrench democratic rule in the polity. The lawmakers who were subjected to serious pressures appear to have finally caved in as they backtracked on the proposed measure seen as self-serving and viewed in some quarters as a witch-hunting exercise targeted at undermining the electoral fortunes of President Buhari and some governors with whom they are at loggerheads.

The decision of an Abuja High Court last week nullifying the suspension slammed on Jibrin who instituted a fundamental rights suit against the House alleging abuse of his rights to freedom of expression vindicated those who accuse the House of being intolerant of opposing views. A member of the House who pleaded anonymity also claimed he would have been suspended from the House just like Senator Ovie Omo-Agege was suspended in the Senate for voicing his opposition against the election sequence bill.

Asked to comment on the alleged high handedness on the Jibrin issue in spite of the existence of a judicial pronouncement on the Dino Melaye suit in the Sixth Assembly that frowns on such suspension order, Namdas said, “It depends on how you chose to interpret what transpired on the Jibrin case. The legislature is where laws are made. Even if they are not perfect, there is always room for amendment.”

The Head of the Civil Society Legislative Advocacy Centre (CISLAC), Auwalu Musa Rafsanjani, however felt the House deserves to be praised for putting in place measures that have strengthened democracy in the country.

Saying the inability of a high number of lawmakers in the House to retain their seats during the electioneering period has negatively affected the quality of legislations, he maintained that the House is far ahead of the Senate, which he said has been enmeshed in various crises since it was inaugurated in June 2015.

According to him, “I can’t see any action the House took to undermine democracy in the last three years. Rather they have taken steps to consolidate democracy. Even when we talk of the election sequence palaver, it is due to ignorance on the part of some of the lawmakers. This is unlike the Senate where you hear of suspension of members, unnecessary intimidation and pettiness on a daily basis while governance suffers.”

Politics / I Am Contesting Against Governor El-rufai In 2019 – Shehu Sani by 10Ebisco: 3:31pm On May 28, 2018
Senator Shehu Sani representing Kaduna Central Zone has declared his intention to run against Governor El-Rufai in the 2019 gubernatorial elections in Kaduna state. The senator made this known in a recent interview with Guardian where he condemned the outcome of the local government election in Kaduna.

He said:

“It was very clear that the results of the recently-conducted local council elections in Kaduna State did not reflect what happened. Even, there was no ward congress in the state; they just wrote list of names and submitted and this situation has worsened the internal crisis among those who used their money to buy forms. Let it be known to Governor El-Rufai that I am contesting against him in 2019 governorship election in the state. The election will not be conducted by the state electoral commission.”

Speaking further, Shehu Sani warned that the attacks and killings by Boko Haram insurgents and Fulani herdsmen would affect the political fortune of the APC during the presidential and governorship elections in many states.

Politics / Registrar, Oloyede Reveals What Exposed Corruption In JAMB by 10Ebisco: 8:37pm On May 27, 2018
The Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) Prof. Is’haq Oloyede has described the huge difference between the revenue generated by the board in 2017 and that of his predecessors as a reflection of chronic corruption in the system.

He pointed out that since the inception of the admission body over 40 years ago, the total money generated were just N52m (fifty-two million naira) while the board, under his leadership, generated N9bn in 2017 only.

Oloyede made this disclosure in Osogbo, the Osun State capital, while speaking as Lead Speaker during the 3rd Colloquium to celebrate Governor Rauf Aregbesola’s birthday, organised by Raufnomics Transformation of Osun, a socio-political group.

He also explained that the downward review of JAMB cut-off mark is a necessity caused by the need to curb inequality, by giving level playing ground to applicants.

“Nigeria is dominated by thieves at the helms of affairs, I mean certified thieves; let me talk about JAMB for instance, since over forty years that JAMB has been established, the total money generated before we came in is N52m (Fifty two million naira)

“After we finished our examinations for 2017, we generated N9bn, in which I returned the total sum of N7.8m to the Federal Government.

“Members of the National Assembly marveled at this feat, they wondered how I came about the figure.

“For this year also, I have realised over N9bn,” he declared.

Oloyede, who spoke on the theme: “Functional education as a tool for national development and a gateway to freedom” noted that education remains the bedrock of every nation.

He argued that education is essentially the main process through which a society regenerates itself, and hands down norms, cultures, and also generates wealth.

“You don’t need to use bomb to destroy a nation, just lower the quality of education and allow cheating by students in examinations.

“Education, being the art of acquisition and utilisation of knowledge is also an instrument in training individuals purposely to make them socially responsible.

“Functional education must geared towards the liberation of humanity from poverty and misery.

Politics / Oshiomhole: Buhari´s Achievements Will Guarantee Victory For APC by 10Ebisco: 6:39am On May 26, 2018
We’ll win more states and National Assembly seats

By Adibe Emenyonu in Benin City

Immediate past governor of Edo State, and Chairmanship hopeful of the ruling All Progressives Congress, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, yesterday stated that President Muhammadu Buhari’s achievements would propel him to victory in 2019.

Oshiomhole, who declared this while addressing leaders of the APC in Edo State, predicted that despite the effort being made by the opposition to misinform Nigerians about the activities of the APC-led government, the APC would win more states in the governorship election and more National Assembly seats.

He said the campaigns for 2019 general elections would be interesting because his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), would reveal to Nigerians how the alleged looting of the nation’s treasury during the 16 years reign of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), plunged Nigerians into poverty, “which the APC government under President Buhari was making effort to eliminate.”

According to Oshiomhole, who recently received the endorsement of President Buhari and the APC caucus in the Senate and House of Representatives to succeed Chief John Odigie-Oyegun as the National Chairman of the APC, “it is our task as party activist to painstakingly explain to our people in the rural areas who dug the hole that led to what we are experiencing today as a nation and the effort by President Buhari to gradually pull us out of that hole to the surface and begin to push and uplift us upward to that level in which every Nigerian will have to say I am a proud Nigerian.”

He continued: “Poverty is not an act of God; it is the result of our economic history. And when you look at the numbers of how much was stolen under the watch of Jonathan as President and the revelations made, the kind of money that was diverted under the PDP regime under President Jonathan, those monies if distributed by 180 million Nigerians, each of us will have a swollen pocket.

“And we must help our people to appreciate that the challenge of rebuilding a house that was rocked beyond foundation, to build complete new foundation cannot be an overnight work. What is important is that there is a commitment to refix and the President has broken new grounds which may not have been amplified to a level that the rural people can see them. Once upon a time, growing up, we were told that the Army’s finances are beyond probe and that whatever a general has stolen, it was for good, you cannot question.

“But this President has subjected the military to accountability. Some persons who were untouchable before are being touched. So, that fight against corruption, I am happy that even other African heads of states under the umbrella of the AU, have acknowledged President Buhari as one African President that has proved his sincerity to fight corruption. And I think even recently, the Secretary General of the Commonwealth also had very kind word to say about the leadership of our President on the war against corruption.

“We are preparing ourselves in getting the truth ready so we can engage. In Edo State, those who participated under the PDP philosophy of share the money; those who collected money for either their campaign or their personal interest, they are now being called to account for it.

“So, I am very confident that we will win the next general election, have our President re-elected, have more governors elected under our platform, have more of our party members elected in the states and National Assemblies so that come February next year, we will not only form a federal Government, we will have overwhelming majority in the National Assembly, such that the capacity to govern on the part of the executive will not be weakened by a tight margin in the National Assembly.”

Politics / Herdsmen Killings: Tinubu Reveals Who To Blame by 10Ebisco: 6:59pm On May 24, 2018
Oluremi Tinubu, Senator representing Lagos Central, on Thursday blamed colonialists for hatred among Nigerians, as well as insurgency in the country.

The Senator, who is the wife of the national leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Bola Tinubu stated this while contributing to a motion to celebrate the 2018 Children’s Day by her colleague from Adamawa, Binta Garba.

Reacting to the bill, Mrs Tinubu stressed that the killings, rape and kidnappings being witnessed across the country were beyond the government.

She said, “I have worked with children and women all my life but what is going on in this nation is beyond what the government can shoulder. I’m calling on all Nigerians to rise up to be our brother’s keepers.

“After the funeral in Benue, the vice-president was off to the IDPs camps. Mr President (Saraki) has been to various IDPs camps in the past to give food items – every Nigerian should rise up by whatever means to help.

“There is this little story I tell people. Since the white man came and started giving us individual plates at birthday parties to eat rice, Nigerians have become selfish. I remember when I was growing up when I was having party in our community, not SP (Senate President), he is Ajebutter.

“I don’t think SP has ever had birthday parties that they will put the rice in a big tray and put the meat on top. Even if it was handful you take, it was taken in love but it appears that we have forgotten to care for our neighbours.”

Celebrities / Linda Ikeji Finally Replies Kemi Olunloyo, Shows Off Her Naked Baby Bump (photos by 10Ebisco: 2:26pm On May 23, 2018
Newly engaged, pregnant celebrity blogger, Linda Ikeji has finally responded to Kemi Olunloyo’s claims that her pregnancy is fake and just a publicity stunt.

After News broke out last week that celebrity blogger, Linda Ikeji is pregnant, Journalist Kemi Olunloyo opined that the pregnancy is fake and just a prosthetic baby bump.

Responding to the allegations, Linda shared photos of her bare bump minutes ago with this long caption below:

Most of the people who know me will tell you that I have a heart of gold and maybe that’s why God never stops blessing me. This woman (you know who…lol) has been trolling me for years and calling me all sorts of unprintable names which I have never responded to. But when she cried out for help last year, despite the abuses I’ve gotten from her, I sent money to her account. I harbor no hate for anyone, no matter what. And I swear I would have sent more money to her if people around me hadn’t stopped me. I just felt pity for her that she was languishing in prison and no one to help her. And not only did I send money (which I did privately and she made public), I called a few people I know to see what they could do to help bring her out of prison. No matter what, she is a woman, and I am all about women supporting women.

She wrote that I am wearing a prosthetic baby bump…lol. Like I could get away with that in Nigeria? And some folks actually believe it…lol. If I couldn’t have a child, I would proudly adopt. Proudly. I love children so much. But fortunately, God blessed me with a womb to carry my own child.
I was just hiding the baby bump until I got to my second trimester before letting you amazing people know. I could have continued hiding it to be honest but I just couldn’t keep calm…lol. I’ve had the easiest pregnancy with no swelling and no issues and I thank God.

Lastly, here’s something I want to say to everyone. I remember when I bought my house in Banana Island in 2015, many didn’t believe it. In fact one tweet said ‘If you believe that Linda Ikeji owns a home in Banana Island, I seriously doubt your higher institution certificate’. That’s how much they doubted God’s blessings…lol

Celebrities / “you Must Marry Corpse Of Our Daughter”- Family Tells Killer Boyfriend by 10Ebisco: 1:18pm On May 22, 2018
The family of 19-year-old Confidence Nwanma, who was allegedly murdered by her boyfriend, 24-year-old Saliu Ladayo, has declared that the killer boyfriend must marry her corpse in line with the tradition of the family.

Nwanma was allegedly stabbed to death last week by Ladayo in the Oshinle area of Akure, the Ondo State capital, following a disagreement that resulted from Ladayo’s cheating ways.

Ladayo said Nwanma got information that he was asking another girl out, so she placed a curse on him that he will never succeed in life if he sleeps with another girl. He asked her to take back the curse but she refused and he stabbed her.

The deceased’s father has now stated that in order for his daughter to be buried, her killer will have to marry her corpse. This, he says, is the custom of the people of Oru East Local Government Area of Imo State. Mr Nwanma explained that failure to perform the traditional rite would cause calamity to befall the family of Ladayo.

He told Punch Metro:

In our place, it is mandatory that the man must marry the corpse of our daughter. We must observe the custom by taking the corpse to our village where the marriage would take place.

It is mandatory that he pays the dowry in double because he brought our daughter dead for marriage.

He would observe all the dictates of the custom before our family would let him go. Without this, every young person from the family of the man will never get to the age of our daughter. They will die a sudden death just like our daughter.

This is not our making; it is the way our ancestors put it down even before we were born. Our people all over the world are waiting for the court judgment. Whichever way it goes, the boy must perform the marital rite to our daughter’s corpse.

Politics / How Akin Oke, Isiaka Alimi Emerged Chairmen In Oyo APC Parallel Congresses [full by 10Ebisco: 5:39pm On May 20, 2018
The crisis rocking the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), in Oyo State took another dimension on Saturday when the two groups that are battling for the soul of the party held their separate state congresses and elected their new executive members.

The two groups are the one loyal to the state Governor Senator Abiola Ajimobi known as SENACO and the one loyal to a former Governor of the state, Alhaji Lamidi Adesina known as Unity Forum.

They held their parallel congresses simultaneously at two locations within Ibadan the state capital.

While the SENACO held its congress at Lekan Salami Stadium Adamasingba, the Unity Forum held its own congress at Obafemi Awolowo Stadium (formerly Liberty Stadium), Oke Ado.

Our correspondent reports that the Adamasingba congress produced the outgoing Chairman of the party, Chief Akin Oke, a native of Ogbomoso as Chairman.

The Oke Ado’s congress, however, produced the outgoing Deputy Chairman of the party, Alhaji Isiaka Alimi as Chairman and Chief Goke Oyetunji as Deputy Chairman.

Alimi. who hails from Ibadan, the state capital is from Akinyele Local Government Area.

Other members of the exco produced at Adamasingba Stadium include the outgoing Secretary, Mr. Mojeed Olaoya who returned as Secretary and Mr. Lekan Adeyemo who emerged as Deputy Chairman; Dr. Azeez Olatunde (Publicity Secretary) and Mrs. Mabel Williams (Women Leader).

Chairman of the state Congress committee, Alhaji Abdullahi Gwarzo, while addressing delegates at Adamasingba, said that the congress was conducted in line with the directives and guidelines of the party.

Gwarzo said “We did our best. We were able to elect the leadership of Oyo State APC without any rancour. You can see that everybody is happy, including the governor.

“The congress was well-organised and we are not aware of any other congress or faction. APC is one united party.

“Nomination forms were sold to all aspiring members of the party in the state and Lekan Salami Sports Complex is the recognised venue.

Present at Adamasingba congress were Governor Abiola Ajimobi; ex-Governor, Chief Adebayo Alao-Akala, Speaker of the House of Assembly, Hon Olagunju Ojo, a former Senate Majority Leader, Senator Teslim Folarin and Senator Abdulfatai Buhari.

Others include Chief Niyi Akintola (SAN); Mr Sunday Dare; Mr. Zaccheus Adelabu; Hon. Akeem Adeyemi, Hon. Jide Olatunbosun, Hon. Dokun Odebunmi and Hon. Saheed Fijabi.

Ajimobi, while speaking expressed willingness to accommodate all aggrieved party members, adding that the quality of good leaders was determined by their level of tolerance and ability to accommodate opposing views.

He said, “In the spirit of true democracy, aggrieved members would be accommodated but the party won’t tolerate acts of thuggery, brigandage and unnecessary discord”.

The governor, while charging the newly-elected executives to pursue peace and do everything within their means to unite the party, said “politics is about give and take. It is about reconciliation and interest. The most important is to accommodate others”.

Other members of the exco elected at Oke Ado congress include, Hon. Remi Olalekan (Secretary), Alhaji Kayode Adanla (Financial Secretary), Mr. Olawale Sadare (PRO), Babajide Akinola (Youth Leader) and Barrister Azeez Adesope (Legal Adviser).

The Fouad Oki led faction of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State is holding a parallel congress in the state.

Oki, is challenging the other faction of the party led by a former governor of the state, Bola Tinubu.

Oki, who was recently a loyalist of Tinubu, was the campaign director for Governor Akinwunmi Ambode’s 2015 gubernatorial contest.

He also acted in that capacity for both Mr Tinubu and former governor Babatunde Fashola.

Recall that he launched the Broom United Movement, a faction of aggrieved party members in February.

While the faction is holding its parallel congress at the Lagos Airport Hotel, Ikeja, the Tinubu faction is holding its own congress at the party secretariat, Acme Road, Ikeja.

A party stalwart said that officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) were being expected to monitor the exercise.

However, the Tinubu faction had earlier chosen Alhaji Tunde Balogun as the chairman of the party in the state.

He (Balogun) along with other elected executive members will take ove rfrom the Henry Ajomale led excos.
